  1. It wasn't my intention to be insulting, sorry if it came off as such. Weird that it would be too short, we use the P20 Pro cases on the rear fine. What differs between this design and the standard rear case that could reduce the height so much?
  2. ...It'd be nice if we could get sticky modifier keys as an option, haven't used the keyboard enough yet to decide if I prefer the 'traditional' method of actually holding a key while using it, or the sw keyboard sticky key style. Giving people the option of either mode would mean they could just choose.
  3. Of course the holes don't like up, we buy the P20 Pro case purely because its dimensions are close enough to the rear of the Pro1 that it fits over it. And its going to be too short, its made for a standard design phone, not the double decker one we have. ...What I'm more interested in is if the front half of that will sit over the screen of the Pro1 in a usable manner. I actually ordered one of these the other day because I couldn't find a version of this for the Elephone U (which would be the front half most likely to fit the screen of the Pro1).
  4. They have to be small enough to fit in the SIM slots. Nowadays most phones use nano sim or even smaller, the older 'standard' size SIMs are too big. You can use smaller, but you need an adapter.
  5. ...I keep coming across these 'universal' bumper cases that are basically rubber strips with extra padding in the corners. Think they could be modified to possibly fit both halves of the Pro1? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32868048401.html
  6. ...Sadly it doesn't look like they make that model of phone case for the Elephone U... ☹️ ...I did however come across a few 'universal' bumper covers. Any chance they could be modified to encase the screen (or even the rear) portion? ...Then again, if the P20 Pro rear case fits over the front of the Pro1, maybe the front half of those P20 cases would also fit?
  7. I have seen these cases for the P20, I am currently looking for a version for the Elephone U, since that is the screen that mostly matches the Pro1. I may end up having a P20 Pro case on the back of the phone an an Elephone U cover on the front. 😜
  8. I also noticed this 'wire' on mine, not sure what it is.
  9. Just took a look at mine and yeah, it has a SIM cutout in a similar manner to the S7 pic above. You have to insert it from the back, and have the phone facing down to insert it as you said.
  10. I've only tried using a microSD card so far, but AFAIK you usually need a nano SIM for the second slot, and you orient it in the same direction as your main SIM, using one edge of the micro SD slot to hold it. ...also, if you are interested in also using a SD card as well as your SIMs, there is a possible hardware mod you can do to your second SIM so that you can stick it on top of a SD card. https://www.mobilefun.co.uk/blog/2016/03/how-to-enjoy-dual-sim-and-micro-sd-simultaneously-on-the-galaxy-s7/
  11. The picture is likely a 'stock' image of one of the dozen or so other models they also sell in their listing. Also, the listing you linked is for the 'reversed' single latch design, that one might come in handy for people who might find the standard clip-over-the-front style latch gets in the way. The style EskeRahn apparently uses (and I'm considering) has a split latch design where half is on each side of the flip case, making it 'smaller' and less obtrusive.
  12. ...And I just found the case type I was looking for on AliExpress, for $4.07 (cheaper than eBay, as usual). https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000114115816.htm ...If only they made this version with a fold out card section like the earlier case, then removing it to add depth for the Pro1 would be a lot easier/neater.
  13. Thanks, that certainly looks like it. All the ones I've seen up until now have had embossed designs or a metal badge in the corner. Tempted to try that triple layer removable one I found, if not for the fact the outer case is huge compared to the P20 Pro holder. Also wondering how well the purse could be cut out from that other one I found, but then again its another magnet case which probably has a weak magnet...
  14. While searching AliExpress for the 'double half latch' P20 Pro case @EskeRahn is using I came across some more unusual case designs... A half flap version with ornate designs on it (no thanks). A case that opens from the top, so those who prefer the case upside down and those who prefer it the right way up can be equally annoyed (and will also fall apart when you cut access holes in the bottom hinge). A case with the flap on the front half instead of the rear half (might help with it falling over the screen). A version of that magnetic case that someone else posted (might hav
  15. Just followed the guide on page 2, had the 201912 firmware so used the 201912 boot.img. ...To anyone wanting to perform it, the things that tripped me up were: The boot.img files were gzipped (boot.img.gz) and I didn't have an unzip app on the phone so had to use 7zip on the PC to extract it. The android tools didn't see my phone on my Win7 PC but worked fine on my Win10 notebook. You need to allow the ADB connection on the phone when you connect it, otherwise 'adb devices' shows it a unauthorised and you can't do anything. 'magisk_patched.img' ends up in your phon
  16. How would heat/hot air go with removing those internal holders? Would it just melt them?
  17. All the local felt tape is super thick stuff made for furniture. This 0.5mm tape might be what I'm after to soften my clacking...
  18. ...Just took a look at mine and noticed that mine differs from yours - the pad in the photo is missing! It only had the left hand side pad. I guess thats one place I'll have to start with adding padding. I wonder if I can get spare pads from FxTec...
  19. Finally got my Pro1, and so far it seems to be everything I wanted. One thing though, it certainly does clack. When opening using just your thumbs it can be so loud you can hear it in another room. A bit TOO clacky... Apart from using your hands to physically slow it down (defeating the purpose of using it handheld) can anyone suggest a way to quieten the opening clack? Perhaps felt or foam stuck in certain locations?
  20. Chinese/Lunar New Year will be a big delay in production (AFAIK most chinese don't get back to work until sometime in Feb). It also wouldn't surprise me if the coronavirus also causes additional delays.
  21. ...Is needing to unroot in order to run OTAs a thing? Never had an Android phone new enough to get new OTAs so unsure how this all works...
  22. Yes, it would seem to me the Pro1 would have been better off hinging opposite to what it does, no mashing buttons when trying to open it. Then again I also think having a curved screen further reducing the area you can push on without triggering stuff also wasn't the best move... ...Has anyone tried a 'windowed' case for the P20 Pro yet? Not sure if all the advertised cases have the weird side only opening or if some actually display the whole screen. Might consider buying one myself, but not sure how well the design of the (indented) window would go depth wise with the Pro1...
  23. ...Speaking of virtual keyboard has anyone tried "Hacker's Keyboard" on the Pro1 yet? I've used it on all my Android devices for as long as I can remember, it has extra keys such as the arrow keys, and IIRC it has a deactivate on physical keyboard option. Anyone know if it works fine on the Pro1?
  24. Your link doesn't work, but it looks like the same protectors I bought and tried to install, but ended up with a screen full of bubbles. How did you get it looking so professional?
