  1. Tried this on my Moto Z with USB keyboard connected, with Gboard as the input method. Works as it should there. Not running Pie though. If you have an adapter lying around and no BT keyboard, try connecting a USB keyboard to the Pro1 and see what happens.
  2. I have a pretty bad track record applying screen protectors and went without screen protector on the Moto Z for about 2.5 years. Nothing especially bad ever happened to the device and I tend to not drop them either. But hey, that thing still looks good as new. So I'll be living on the edge with my Pro1 as well. The soft edge that is. My phones tend to sit in a sleeve when not use. Scratches from daily use seem to be a non-issue as is and I don't trust a flimsy protection film to stop a real drop from doing its thing. I'm aware that it's still a bit riskier.   3. Emailing this address actually just generates a support ticket. You get an email back with your ticket id. It is true however that they might be ignoring the queue if you have an urgent request and were prompted to email them. I doubt it's of any use if you weren't, though.

  6. The sticker is the only place where you can find the user-readable serial number. The serial stored on the device might be derived from that in some way, but looks entirely different and might as well be random. Is it important? Not quite, but I'd rather keep my number intact once I get mine.
  7. To update my current situation, I had to go to live chat again to suddenly receive an instant reply to my email sent yesterday. ...and they were still not happy. They wanted me to spell out the value because they lack some reading comprehension or something. Explaining how they found the credit card bill to not match the order confirmation they only compared it to the unit price minus IGG coupon, ignoring shipping or just reading the total. Smart.   8. Is VLC set to use hardware acceleration? I think the default is set to automatic so it would probably be using that. Try turning that off. Not as a solution, but to find out the culprit. Though it still seems to be specific to your unit if it works for others.
  9. With FedEx not reacting to the mail until this morning, I decided to go to the live chat, as much as I hate using those things. I wasn't exactly expecting a quality conversation, but the support person really went out of their way to ignore everything my last email and my chat messages said about having the importer corrected to be F(x)tec instead of me. They did insist that I send them the darn credit card bill, so I did it despite everything, to get things finally rolling.   10. The crackling bug is supposed to be fixed in the upcoming OTA update. It only affect certain apps. It might depend on on the API used, in particular we have deducted that OpenSL and AAudio do crackle in an app where you can choose the backend, while AudioTrack and AudioTrack N do not. This may not be the only factor, however. Dunno about doubled sounds though.
  11. Tempted to vote "Other - I didn't get mine yet..." but considering the customs mess will hopefully be sorted out during this week and knowing I can't change my vote... As for what I plan to do is to mess with it at least a few days before I try to use it as a daily driver. Got a bunch of stuff I want to experiment with first, so having an always usable phone on the side still will be important. Apart from that, knowing all the oddities, I'm not aware of what would be stopping me right now. Unless it arrives in a broken state or something.

No response yet and I feel like this could take a while considering they took 4 days to respond to the first. On that one it lists me as the importer and consignee, so well... can't blame them to think I am the one responsible. Hope this can be solved shortly. Thanks!

  16. Update: FedEx finally responded and said they will not accept the invoice provided by F(x)tec Support. Guess I'll send them the real one and explain the situation. Let's see how much they care...
  17. It sends KEYCODE_SYM. "Symbol modifier key. Used to enter alternate symbols." iirc this was meant to bring up the emoji selection too, but Alt already does that (they moved the label then). It's a modifier that can be used for bindings, but no default mapping seems to use it.
  18. If the tracking doesn't show any issues, you'll probably be fine... or notice when it's time to go through the customs. As for me, nothing changed yet. Edit: Another day, another nothing. I've now written to FedEx support, just to see if they're gonna send it back or something. It should be solely up to the customs office in theory, but maybe they're hiding something.
  19. Update: Nothing happened. Status is still as before and FedEx did not react to me sending stuff their way either. Not sure at which point I should panic. I've heard customs being slow often, but I have pretty much no experience on my own there. I did not contact FedEx yet as I assume they'll just tell me it's handled by customs and there's nothing to do right now. Anything happen to anyone who had their stuff held up as well so far?
  20. Thanks, support (or maybe it was you who knows) just came back to me and provided me with an invoice I could use. Do you still want me to email you? I was gonna forward pretty much everything I got from FedEx, assuming you could step in and resolve the situation, but that won't be necessary now it seems. Edit: I did send the stuff to FedEx Germany now for what it's worth. Let's see if that status will change from that.
  21. In my case, FedEx Germany wants some proof of the declared value/invoice stating I paid the exact amount as declared. I cannot simply say the value is correct, but I lack proof of the declared value as well of course. They also want me to allow them to handle customs in my name, no indication of pre-paid customs fees anywhere, though I'm not sure where I'm supposed to look. I only have very shallow knowledge of this, but I think in Germany I really need to have the price I paid declared and won't get away with shenanigans as explaining what Erik told us here.   23. At least I got contacted by FedEx Germany, saying Koeln/Bonn in the footer of the mail. Tracking still said NARITA-SHI JP when I wrote the post... but now it's indeed in ROISSY CHARLES DE GAULLE CEDEX. So that's just me assuming wrong things on that part. So it's in France instead. Doesn't help much as the documents appear to be not 100% correct and I have honestly no clue how to handle this properly on my own. Edit: Now it's Köln. Curious if they're gonna hold it here.
