They've been working hard fielding angry requests from grumpy customers. They need a good break so they don't all have a nervous breakdown. I'm sure they'll help you when they return. If it still works in the meantime, you're not totally stuck, right?

I imagine that would indicate either an incompatibility or that those network operators do not support VoLTE. As long as they continue to support traditional methods of voice delivery it's not a big problem.

Your patience has now been rewarded. Hopefully the rest of us will have that experience soon!

Protective Case Suggestions and Ideas
silversolver replied to Waxberry's topic in General Discussion
@EskeRahn put his phone in the case upside down to avoid the desk. 😮 Personally I'd rather have it flip the other way as well, but to each their own. -
Remember @Erik is here unofficially. He likely posted on a vacation day, because he's awesome like that. 🙂

My original Droid on FroYo (which also sounds stupid.....Mr. Baggins?) calls them Applications. Elegant, like everything else about that phone. It was a phone from an era where productivity was King, and consumers of mindless drivel weren't the sole focus of R&D at all the major phone makers. I'm glad F(x)tec is still like Motorola was in 2008, and maybe even better. Productivity is King.

What I'd like to know is what is the priority for selection? Use WiFi whenever available? Use it when it has the stronger signal? Use it only when nothing else is available? Things that make you go hmmmmmm

Yeah, what looney toon decided people should get their productivity programs from a "play store" ? Truly pandering to the mindless consumers of drivel. Call it a market or a playground I don't use it. I never have and never will. I load everything from the APK. My daily driver doesn't have any GcrApps at all. APKs and desktop Web sites! 🙂

I knew you flipped 3, but didn't know there were 4. I don't have that menu yet. 😮

I have and love a Droid 4, and mine IS capable of interacting with the modern Web thanks to LineageOS and Brave, but there are other issues with it that make its days numbered. The biggest problem is that it cannot do VoLTE, which is the direction Verizon (the only carrier to offer Droid 4 AFAIK) is going, so it will become WiFi only eventually. Add to that the fact that it has only 1GB of RAM, 1/8th of which is reserved for things like the video chip, and it labors through modern programs (I refuse to call them apps because it sounds stupid.) It is still usable, and I do, although I'm on a lo

While we're fiddling with things, removing the time-limited editing restriction would make your life easier in a certain thread 😉 I really don't see what purpose it serves anyway. Who's going to change a post to spam long after everyone has forgotten it?

I have a report of VoWiFi working on Verizon. Perhaps that will help you at home?
-
Thank you for sharing this. It's very good to know and I'll add it to the compatibility list. I don't think it's actually on by default though, because part of the process to make it work on Verizon currently is to go to that menu and turn everything on. ;) Also, thank you for calling that embarrassing network by its correct name. :)

I'm interested if VoWiFi is an option for Verizon with this phone to improve signal in your home. I have a report of it working with T-Mobile, so the device apparently supports it, but the report was that T-Mobile had to do something on their end to make it work, so perhaps it won't work on Verizon since they are ignoring us and we're just finding workarounds. It would be interesting to attempt VoWiFi though.

You are the hero with the golden pen who is saving F(x)tec from a mass exodus of disgruntled CRUSTYmers. Thank you for all you do! I trust you had a merry Christmas and will have an amazing new year. Whenever my clack arrives, it will be Christmas! Thank you for encouraging news that it might be soon!

Well written and thorough. You're making the wait harder. 😉

Discussion and testing on features and known&potential issues
silversolver replied to rejujacob's topic in Bug Reports
You may very well have just saved weeks of head scratching trying to identify this issue! Thank you for sharing this! -
Pretty sure that's only on supported devices; the BYOD info I saw said that BYODs can only use T-Mobile. Interestingly the Pro1 speaks all the required languages for all 3, so perhaps it will be supported eventually.

VoLTE is turned off by default on the phone. Try *#*#4636#*#* and flip all the switches and reboot. Please let us know if this makes VoLTE work so others can know. Also, it sounds hairy over there. Stay safe!

Duly noted, will add ASAP. Thank you for the report!

Any updates on desktop OS's?
silversolver replied to QWERTYAndreas's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
Really for a UMPC the Cosmo Communicator is perhaps a better choice, assuming that you don't mind that it's a really weird phone. 😛 -
At least you knew what you had once you lost it. 😉 We'll likely get them in a month or 2 around the same time.
-
Haha, it won't be that long. 🙂

OK, admittedly funny. 🙂

I fail to see the resemblance....
