Pro¹ X – state of production and delivery

My guess is that they don't have enough devices to deliver and while they might have materials to build a few more, it won't be enough for everyone.
My hope is that they try to find a solution with different chips or a Pro2 and they try to design the phone meanwhile to not let the FxTec die.
My fear is that they try to prevent legal actions as long as possible to savely gather the remaining money and flee from the scene.

It seems they try to get money from other projects.
Also, as shipping company has started to sell phones may result in the lack of enough phones left to be sent.
Although they told shipping company does not sell client's phones, it may not necessarily completely true - they may not had the actual number of phones sold this way and they may counted with additional stock manufactured (over the necessary amount) will cover this kind of loss but final number of sold Pro1X this way was also continued after they told it does not affect client's phones.

So in their last message, start of shipping was declared as not later than 28th of June.
That was more than two months which may also mean they try to manufacture a few more phones or try to assemble them using already produced parts... depleted batteries may also be one of the problems which need time before shipping restarts...

I hope for a Pro2 but also I am afraid it will not come.

Production does indeed seem to be starting...

Please stop. You made your points, there are people here who invested in this project knowing that, you are doing a disservice to the intent of the project and to those that have supported this f

In a casual conversation in Discord today, while helping someone with a battery problem, Casey provided some information on the shipping situation. Hopefully that means there will be  an update soon,

Someone named fxtec_21 purports to sell 200 brand-new Pro1/X earphones on ebay:

Fxtec In-Ear Earphones - Wired with built-in Microphone - 4 replacement Ear tips

Strange, as those are (and afaik have always been) listed as out-of-stock on their own shop:

https://store.fxtec.com/product/fxtec-pro1/

Not that I'd like to buy them (the shipping cost to continental Europe is 4x the unit price), but out of curiosity: Is this official?

Update : feedback history shows additional information, sorry I initially didn't see it because eBay only shows item-specific feedback by default, and spotting that filter is tricky.

That's suspicious at best...

Those mounting brackets and RPi4 CMs might be official spare parts for the Linxdot miner that is/was marketed by F(x)tec. Still strange these items pop up on Ebay.

I bet those are part of the pre-order bonus we never ever got. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think you are right. If they only produced those 200 pcs listed in eBay then I understand why they did not deliver them since many people here did not even need/want those earphones (including me). However, if there is more units then it is little bit strange. Why not to deliver if they had produced them already? To my understanding the whole point of forgetting earphones was to cut costs.

Well it's more profitable to sell them behind our backs instead of deliver them of course...

Where was this 'pre-order bonus' mentioned? I don't want/need them, but I want to verify these were promised at some point in the campaign.

I remember it being promoted as well but not for Indiegogo. Instead, I think they wanted to send it to their very first 'Preorders' but they changed their mind quite early which was okay for us all. Nobody really wanted these earphones.

I don't know if anybody actually got them since I believe somebody said that their quality was very bad.

This was eons ago, for the original Pro1 when ordering through the site. (so it wasn't backer based on another site like Indiegogo)

Right, it was the preorder of original Pro1 (so when Pro1 was in development stage and not even existed yet).

It's been a month now since their 3/4 claim.

Has anyone got their email for confirming address?

Not I... and this evening my long-suffering Key2 appears finally to have given up the ghost: the keyboard has died!!   I've just ordered a Unihertz Titan Slim from Unihertz's own online shop - I do hope they are reliable (does anybody know??).

My Pro1X (I was a backer) is now just a source of conceptual comedy, though naturally I am quite a large sum of money out of pocket.  If I ever see it (which seems vanishingly unlikely) I'll be putting it straight onto E-bay or the like, as it would be a complete irrelevance...  But I'm sure that is an entirely hypothetical scenario!

Yes, they are reliable for delivery.  Not great on after purchase support like OS updates and such, but they will deliver your phone.

That's what I'd say, too, after a few months with the Titan Slim. Also, for what it is, it worked well enough. If you were happy with the Key2, you might also be good with the SIlm, even though it's much more plasticky than what I've seen from BlackBerry. (In the end, I found both the portrait mode keyboard and the screen too small for my tastes, which made me try the 5+ times more expensive Honor Magic V2 foldable phone, which seems to do it for me, even though I miss the physical keyboard. At least, the virtual keyboard doesn't cover half or more of the screen as soon as it appears.)

By the way, it seems that there's at least an unofficial LineageOS 20 (Android 13) for the Titan Slim while the stock ROM is still Android 11 as far as I know. I never tried that myself, though.

Thanks a lot.  Thus far, while the Slim has its weaknesses (the camera is not great and the keyboard is not as good as the Key 2), I'm getting on reasonably OK with it, and it's certainly better than I feared it might be!

Dear Pro1-X Backer,

We are thrilled to share some good news with you. After a long journey, we are finally in a position to proceed with shipping the remaining devices to our backers.

We have sent an email to 300 backers asking them to confirm their shipping details. If you have not yet received an email, please rest assured that we will be reaching out to the remaining backers shortly. When you do receive the email, please complete the form to ensure delivery.

We want to extend our apologies for the delay in fulfilling your order. We understand the frustration and inconvenience it has caused, and we truly appreciate your patience and support throughout this period.

Please keep an eye on your inbox for our communication, and do not hesitate to reach out to us at info@fxtec.com if you have any questions or need further assistance.

Thank you, Team Fxtec

Ah, so no change for pro 1 upgrade orders.  Status remains chopped liver.  🙃

I still remember something about us being a priority over IGG backers... Don't know whether they said that anymore.

Yep, email on Feb 10, 2021 contained the sentence:

"This change of chipset means that your order will now be automatically upgraded to the Pro1-X, and will be prioritised ahead of our Pro1-X Indiegogo backers."

At this point, who knows what that means.

It is a tough one. It would seem fair to do as they wrote. But the IGG policy clearly says that backers should be served before any other.
Logically the money you paid for the original Pro1 should be seen as some sort of a backing, but as buyers have other legal rights than backers, it most likely is not the case seen from IGG point of view. How FxTec choose to handle the conflicting interests I do not know.

For me it's quite simple: private people have to go through a lot of effort to actually refund their money if they haven't paid by credit card. IGG as a company would be quite successful on the other hand. So they obviously prioritise those who can defend themselves while we have to wait forever.
