  1. What Happens If the US Does Absolutely Nothing To Combat COVID-19? The Imperial College then ran the numbers for what would happen if countries assumed a "mitigation" strategy and "suppression" strategy. You can read the full summarized breakdown of what happens in each scenario below, but basically the mitigation strategy flattens the curve with an actual death toll at around two million deaths while the suppression strategy has the death rate in the U.S. peaking at 3 weeks with only a few thousand deaths.

  2. I'm running the suspended update and I did not notice any improvement. Anything above minimal volume is unusable.

  3. I am not sure If I am going to replace my screen right away. Currently, everything is working normally and the crack is only a visual issue (for now). I can live with it. However, since the screen is damaged it can break to non-functional more easily anytime. So I need a spare part for backup. I will take pictures of the components when I am going to change the screen. I just don't know when that will happen.

  4. Basically, I would like to flash the other phone which is not working and I think when it enters to EDL mode then it should work, so basically either the phone is faulty (it's flash) or there is some differences between phones which may result this tool to time out. I don't really wanted to enter EDL mode using my phone (I may do it using fastboot or the way you wrote anyways), just to check if the cable which should force the phone to enter EDL mode is working. However, it did not work even with my phone which is working. However, the phone I would like to flash using EDL does nothi

  5. As far as I know, USB CDC-ACM has no baud rate option. So USB Virtual COM port (or ttyACM under Linux) is completely different than USB <--> RS232 converters like FT232, PL2303 and similar devices.

  7. I am also a developer of both hardware and software and I would not say that creating a phone from scratch is easy. You are right about the SoC itself does a lot of things but you should follow several considerations, select appropriate components and routing, so you have to have appropriate skills and experiences. Also, creating a phone from scratch can be relatively easy for an expert who is also familiar with multi-layer PCB design, but creating a good phone needs much more experience not speaking about good mechanical design and EMI / EMC considerations and the price of testing a

  10. I grant you that "making a mistake" is a third option beside "stupid" and "malicious"... But it never did in the first place. In judging the case at hand, we have a large bandwidth of possible assessments, with two extremes – one extreme that fears the end of the world, spreads panic and has bought truckloads of toilet paper, and another extreme that doesn't see anything worth noting except that everyone else are fearmongers and panic spreaders. As usual, both extremes are wrong, and, as usual, science and the professionals of the involved fields are the places where the most sensible

  11. @sixaxis , you could add a number 8, see mail posted yesterday by @Raksura above. When they say nothing: people are whining When they say something without a when: people are whining When they try to give a vague estimate stating that it is out of their control. people are whining When they tell that the supply lines are working again and production and shipping is expected to be resumed: People are whining too ?!?!? What do you expect them to do in the current situation?

  13. This issue is fixed in the latest OTA-update. There is also a work around available: - https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.punksta.apps.volumecontrol/ Please, use the search function next time since this is third thread to same issue. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15uE12Yv5nMvIF42U33cY5FQoF6M66QIn00cC876uf7Y/htmlview#gid=0

  14. So this is a bit of a "Huh" moment. @david recommended this clear bumper to me. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07L2SQLRC?ref=ppx_pt2_dt_b_prod_image I just got it today and put it on. He had told me that some mods need to be done to get the buttons to align and the ports to be easy access. I was trying to upload some pics to my PC and pried it off and stuck it on the front. You know what? YOU CAN TYPE THROUGH IT! YOU CAN TOUCH THE SCREEN! You know what? I can flip open the phone - with ease - and the entire screen is protected. Sure there is a cut out for w

  15. Yes, this is what I'm most excited about. Being able to bore out the main swiss-cheese "lens" portion, to be left with only a "surround" of rubbery protection, helps open the device and reduces edge-of-touchscreen accidentals. In theory, anyway. It's lucky that the vol / pwr / etc. buttons are NOT on the top brick (screen), because cutting out the entire screen portion AND extra button holes might make it too weak to rely on. Top-brick: Cut main face, leave sides intact. Bottom-brick: Cut sides for ports, leave main face intact (or small adjustment for camera). Seems legit! I don't mean t

  16. @sequestris, you inspired me to try the clear case on front, and I was curious about @EskeRahn's concern of two cases fighting each other for grip in the gap between screen and keyboard, but at least with this combination of cases they seem to hold snugly while open, while closed, and while actively opening/closing! It's very promising! Also -- at least for me, this DRAMATICALLY improves my ability to casually flip it open, without having to think about it so much.

  17. First testprint made last night. I've split the bottom up in 2 parts to figure out how well the fit is. there is some slight (2mm) missalignment of the buttons and usb-c header and the camera placement is slightly off. I can now properly add the chamfer which is about 1.5mm (eyeballed, stil got to measure that tonight) and correct these errors. I expect the next version to be a perfect tight fit. from thereon I can start designing the mold and order some silicone to give it a try. @EskeRahn I will try to add a slight "edge" to the top of the cover to latch on the phone
