  1. Last week Liangchen Chen posted a video of a Fxtec Pro1 running Ubuntu Touch on Twitter https://twitter.com/chenliangchen/status/1272903474393604100 containing a link to an installable zip-file. I managed to install it and wanted to share the procedure, which is pretty equal to installing Sailfish OS: https://community.fxtec.com/topic/2467-community-build32120updated-jan-20-sailfish-os-for-fxtec-pro1/ . Text below is mostly copypaste from over there ... Most important info first: Installation process requires that you wipe your current OS and user data! Download Ubuntu Touch

  3. https://github.com/ubports-on-fxtec-pro1 is correct. Rootfs currently has manual tweaks for configs, as I didn't plan for the image to be released publicly and it more served as demonstration, but if there are enough interested parties, we could properly integrate the device on UBPorts CI for OTA updates and support in installer.

  4. Would be nice if they can formally open up a semi-public beta program for end-users to test updates, maybe provide OTA packages there. Just don't do it like BlackBerry who pretty much allows anyone who can fill a form in, at least vet the participants for technical background who can actually help with bugs and quality feedback. I'd gladly help, with my former full-time background as Software QA.

  6. When I use a headset calls are just fine. And recording a small video, also records the sound fine, so not hardware issues. I too have the problem, especially as a speaker phone. IF I talk a bit loud and clear (like to a meeting) it works, but if I talk at a normal voice, people have problem hearing. It is described in other threads, and my guess is that it is the noise-cancellation that is a bit too aggressive regarding my normal voice as just background noise. There also seems to be a problem speaking immediately after picking up a call, that somehow seems to (often?) be lost too.

  8. FYI... Apparently my last few builds have included GMS (Google Play Store, etc.) I've removed that and rebuilt. test16 is exactly test15 without GMS.

  9. Latest info from Fxtec was on June 4: That said, another update wouldn't hurt. Nor would sending me my phone ๐Ÿ˜‰

  10. It was off most of the afternoon yesterday. Used that time to customise another a new leather case. Turned it back on in the evening now using that new case as I'm suspecting the other case could be causing static build up. So far so good but let's see how long it holds. Last time it took like 24h for the problem to come back.

  11. Yeah, my droid4 often has UMTS reception where the pro1 is stuck on Edge. LTE is spotty around here and the droid4 does not have LTE. It is not too bad though. What is bad is the audio quality when making calls. A lot of people complain about a lot of static on voice calls. I can hear them fine but they can't make out much of what I'm saying. This happens on GSM calls and I'm on the latest LineageOS version. Anyone else experiencing this or is it a hardware issue with just my phone?

  12. Would be great to have a way for people on Lineageos (or on another 3rd party OS) to track stock OTAs as they might contain firmware updates with security fixes etc. Fairphone does that quite nicely on their code.fairphone.com website. You can just download the latest version and the zip contains all the relevant updates to the firmware partitions (even with a .sh file giving you an idea how to flash them with fastboot). Maybe this would be possible for the Pro1 as well @Waxberry? I think @tdm mentioned somewhere that he wanted to package firmware for updating as well. I would g

  16. I beg to differ ๐Ÿ˜‰ Android wasn't really designed to be rooted by the user, and if it can be in a device, it's by no obvious or openly available means. Means which neither Android itself nor the device's manufacturer openly provided. Some devices are not rootable at all, like the Priv. Properly done, root access would have been implemented like other operating systems do, as temporarily elevated privileges with no need to put the whole device in a permanent state of being unsafe. The fact that it wasn't done like that can only be attributed to Android as the operating system, and its

  18. I'm from Germany with order #36xxx for a QWERTZ device, though mine wasn't in this batch yet. But I got this new message: Hello! We hope you are well and keeping safe. With the factory returning to normal production speeds, we are making steady progress working through remaining orders. The factory has confirmed a small batch of Pro1โ€™s is ready to leave the factory, and those that have been allocated stock should now have received a shipping update. We are currently negotiating shipment releases on a 2-3 week basis with the factory, and will be in touch when the next shipment is ready.

  20. I am now holding my QWERTZ order #33xxx in my hands \0/ If I understand correctly the first thing I should do is flash LineageOS on it, as the stock ROM has many unfixed bugs, right? Serial number is 12xx.
