I reported this a long time ago. https://github.com/tdm/android_device_fxtec_pro1/issues/45 so this is a known issue.3 points

AFAIK it is still "alpha" or "work in progress". Do not expect the current community port to be an official one - the probability for that is very-very low. If you need Android applications then run Android (or LineageOS). If you like Linux and are ready to live with some limitations, then try SailfishOS - maybe it suits your use case. And don't forget to give something back to the SailfishOS community - at least bug reports are welcome 😄2 points

I am pleased to announce that the Pro1 has received official support in LineageOS 16.0. You can find the builds and installation instructions on the official LineageOS Downloads page. Please note that LineageOS does not include the proprietary Google apps (aka. "gapps", Play Store, etc.), nor a "su" binary. These are "extras" or "add-ons". You may use any appropriate gapps package for Android Pie. I personally recommend MindTheGapps which can be found here. LineageOS maintains an official su add-on and a couple other extras here. Note the Pro1 is arm64 and be sure1 point

Hi, I'm making this thread to store some of the tricks I've found when using the Pro1. I'll edit the first post with additions and corrections as they come up. To force Portrait when keyboard is stored and Landscape when keyboard is deployed In "Slider Settings" make sure that "Landscape Orientation Lock" is on. Install "Lock Screen Rotation": <https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.ale32thebest.lockscreenrotation> and select "Landscape Mode". Contrary to what you may expect, this works! Apps are now forcibly confined to portrait/landscape mode depend1 point

There is a kernel patch that automatically hides the "su" binary when it is not in use. So, as long as you disable root for apps in developer settings before launching your freedom-limiting app, it will not be able to detect it. But. As mentioned, there are many other ways to detect a rooted/modified device.1 point

They have promised to ship the order by the end of each week for 2 months now. Previously, they promised by the end of each month. And I don't know how many more excuses there would be. But, this time, with the money back, they worked quickly. Thanks for that. Maybe in the future, if they set up production and logistics, I will buy this phone.1 point

Since the begining, I installed AddonSu (I need this for some apps) and yesterday, I don't know why, I tried to install banking apps despite the fact that I don't hide the rooted status. And guess what, it worked! Using these apps on the Fairphone2 with LineageOS 16.0 is impossible without hiding root (I do this with iSu), you immediately get a kick in the face. So LineageOS installed on this device is a great blessing!1 point

Pro1 does not have search key so you are not able to use those shortcuts. I think that FinQwerty does not include it either. Would be nice to know how to remap it to stock. Chen was wondering to add search key but the community did not like the idea. See more from below.1 point

And out of the blue, it started working. That might have something to do with me enabling the "Mobile Data" slider, which is odd, but still...1 point

I asked the developer this question as well: He suggested to go in "total launcher" options: then "Launcher options" > "Key & gestures". Reset the key with the order "Open menu". In my case this was the key "menu". I set it to no action. It seems it solved the bug. (you probably also need to install edge null; without it it is difficult to open the keyboard without touching any part of the screen and launching actions!)1 point

Basically as said: I input all the values as described by the APN document (name, APN etc.), hit the three dots, hit "save"... and then nothing. I've done as suggested and fill out a single field, then saving, and going back if that works. I've come to the conclusion that changing the MCC value from 204 to 202 bugs it. I've been able to fill out the values before but am not able to connect to the internet with just those...1 point

Okay, so it has been about a week with my Pro1. Software I decided to go with LineageOS, because it seems that it will be updated more frequently. LineageOS on the Pro1 works perfect, no unexpected shutdowns or crashes. Using keyboard shortcuts and arrow keys to scroll (especially with the modifier to scroll to top/bottom or ctrl-tab to switch tabs) in Chrome just feels so right. I am waiting for the Vimium Firefox extension to be compatible with Android to enjoy browsing with vim mapping. I use most applications in the Terminal (Termux), for example vim for coding or aerc to e1 point

Just a quick tip for anyone in future. If you go to Settings -> About Phone and tap "Device Name" it allows you to edit that text so you could tag the serial No. onto the end of the device name.1 point

I feel like its random. Somtimes the phone is idle for an hour, doesnt work. Next time after an hour idle it works. Same with 2-5 minutes idle. Doesnt matter if i lock the phone with power key or i let it lock it self by not touching it. Different results...1 point

I've noticed that too, but not sure when exactly that happens.1 point

I have also this with fingerprint, feels like its random. Any solutions? Have my Pro¹ as daily driver for couple of days now, coming from Symbian, Maemo, Meego, Sailfish. So lot to learn with this Android/Lineage. Gonna donate to @tdm for his awesome work1 point

Here's my list of essential apps: X-plore File Manager (a desktop-like file explorer with two panes, root, versatile file viewer and archiver, ... the app is so good, I donated a few bucks ), Automate by LlamaLab (the better Tasker with graphical flowchart editor), all of the Simple Mobile Tools, AFWall+, MAT or My Android Tools (to analyse and deactivate other app's activities, receivers, services and file providers), XPrivacyLua Pro (working well with Riru Core and Riru EdXposed), aCalender+ (awesome calendar widget), Nova Launcher (Folders on the desktop and the drawer are synchronised1 point

I recently swapped the screen assembly of two broken Pro1s to get one working. To access the screws at the back of the display you need to remove those stickers covering them. Now I was wondering if replacing those stickers with slightly thicker rubber pads would help with rattling when the phone is closed. Then I found those guys that could produce something usable for that application: https://www.rhnuttall.co.uk/pads/rubber-pads/ Looks like they could produce 0.8mm thick neoprene rubber pads for this application. Just have to give them the proper diameter. Some one men1 point

The scroll-bar slider in e.g. the Apps-list is 20 pixel wide, with the display&font size I am using, so if you are extremely lucky, you might get it to work with 19, but 10 is more realistic, and well that is about the size they already have disabled...1 point

You can always adjust the settings like you said and find optimal adjustments for disabling the edges. Also, there is an experimental "Detect Edge Swipes" which allows you to still use edges for swipes. To me it is working pretty well. Of course, security aspect is one thing to keep in mind. Best option would be a new feature by F(x)tec. PS. I think that we should have sticky thread for the tips so that people can find these. Some examples... Would it be possible to remap a key (the FxTec key perhaps) as a SEARCH key that would work with the existing Android global shortcuts mechanism?1 point
