Hello! It’s Chen here, been a long time since we last talked or met in person. First of all I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy, regardless where you are. It might be a difficult and challenging time, but we will all fight through it together. I would also like to say thank you to our community again! Thank you for your continuous support and encouragement for Pro1 and F(x)tec, especially in this difficult time. I have to admit 2020 has not been an easy journey for us, a lot of things and plans have completely changed and everything has become more and more diff20 points

I don't know but it looks very similar to a Pro1 box and it also has Lineage OS and ubports (I mean Ubuntu Touch) logo printed on its sides. (They have Pro1 support as also Waxberry wrote above anyway.) I have hopes, but we will see it - we may have more information on 27th October I think. ...be it anything, I am looking forward for it. 🙂 Edit: oh well, and Indiegogo was also mentioned - I hope my hope will be true, but we will see it later this month. Edit2: So it is a collaboration with XDA which has ubports and Lineage OS support (these projects are also have suppor6 points

Here is an article about it on XDA-Developers. Also an e-mail arrived from F(x)tec together with a subscribe button.6 points

Hello, again. I also made a bumper case 🙂 It helps me to avoid touching screen edges by accident. I also noticed that I could hold Pro1 securely because FDM printed layer lines work to prevent slipping. You can download the data from here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:46189456 points

I don't know what's under the blue sheet, but take my money and do more amazing stuff.4 points

@Waxberry thanks for sharing and I am curious about this new project. Please update also here if anyone have found any information / announcement with the details. Anyway, I love my Pro1 and I am looking forward also for your new project.4 points

I'll be waiting for 27th October, then... I don't like anticipation ☹️. It clogs my mind... Maybe I'll just put my alarm for the 27th and not come here in the meantime.3 points

As a pre-order customer, we want you to let you guys know first that we are about to announce a new partnership for something special and to also reassure you that your existing Pro1 orders are top of our list. They are still in progress and queued for shipment in the coming months. We recently shipped a batch of Pro1’s and the next is scheduled for the end of October. Indeed. The large gap is my doing, so the camera has a good view of the keyboard backlight. This behaviour is persistent when the phone is in the fully closed position. Ah, no worries then, any suggestions where I could look if I were to develop a solution for myself? You've pretty much summed up my problems, the most annoying one being the display locked in landscape. Backlight remaining on doesn't bother me so much.2 points

Thanks for suggesting that setting, however I just tested it and it doesn't fix the behaviour of my phone. What I would like is a way to override the keyboard sensor and set the keyboard position to open or closed. Definitely a warranty issue, I intend to get it replaced at some point (thank you 2 year warranty), but can't really do without a phone at the moment. Not really keen on sending something from Australia to the UK (I assume) right now either. Hopefully advance replacement is an option? Correct, your app shows keyboard changes when the sensor is working and no changes2 points

I have tried to mention its position based on the image linked. So I was speaking based on the photo. 🙂2 points

Maybe I don't understand you well regarding what you press towards what part and when it works - I think debug option is also works for you only when you apply a pressure. Anyway, there is a small, cube-shaped magnet in the display part and the sensor is in the bottom part which is not moving. You may try to open the keyboard and test the function using a magnet - so the magnet above the display may also be in wrong position. You may find this magnet at top-left corner of the phone here (the silver one), so this gives the position where you may try the magnet at its bottom side. (s2 points

Yes because that means they continue to support Pro1 regardless of what new product they will launch and that means they take their community seriously. Also, Pro1 is still a great product and if they support it for a long time, it can serve us very well for a while. Anyway, I hope if they launch a new product which accepts SIM card, then they will do a product which support two SIMs and a microSD card simultaneously. Also eSIM is an option but unfortunately not every service providers support it - as far as I read well, it isn't really supported here (maybe Telekom supports it but1 point

Linux (bypassing android) has direct controls to manage changing speed and whether to charge at all. The caveat is that, on android phones, that API requires root permissions as such. So whichever program goes to change those options must be running as root. However, no user can have a program running as root AND at the same time, the phone passing the google's attestation for the apps that use it. We already have enough information about McD app & co to know what that means. The only savior for that is if the phone maker (in this case, Fxtec) makes such programs and include them1 point

So I guess what you would need is easy access to: Settings > System > Languages & input > Physical keyboard > Show virtual keyboard. I could possibly add a Quick Settings Tile for it. I could also add an option to turn it on when in portrait and turn it off when in landscape so that you would hardly ever notice your issue anymore. Sounds like a simple enough fix but I can't tell if and when I will get around implementing that feature. It took them 10 weeks to replace mine. I know it is annoying though taking advantage of the warranty before it expires is probably s1 point

Yes, you sideload from recovery. But then you use the advanced menu in Lineage Recovery to Reboot to recovery. That switches to and makes active the slot where the update was installed. The clearest instructions are @tdms. They were written for the test versions, but they work fine for the official nightlys. http://files.nwwn.com/android/pro1/lineage.html1 point

The updater works but is very slow. I can vouch on the slow part. I bailed on my only attempt to do it because it was taking so long even though it was a background process and I could still use it. I prefer the speed and (for me) simplicity of downloading the nightly and doing an adb sideload from my computer.1 point

@Slion Can I request a user override for the physical keyboard position sensor? My phone has a hardware issue where physical keyboard position sensor is malfunctioning. The phone detects that the physical keyboard is open when it's closed. I can get the keyboard sensor to work by putting a bit of pressure onto a cable (or object) inserted into the USB-C port, so there's probably some kind of connection issue. I really don't want to send my phone in for repair....I can live with a manual toggle open/close for the keyboard. BTW, I'm running LOS and can see that the debug option in1 point

Write a message to the team. In my case I gave wrong information with the payment so they could not assign it to the order. Support is fast and helpful.1 point

I will also have replacement screens in my shop including a replacement service soon. Also, if you use a case which covers the screen (I can take some pictures of it), then the screen is perfectly safe. Cracked mine a few times before I got the case, after that, it never happened again.1 point

I've checked the email logs from Sendgrid (our web email service provider), it says your server blocked the message due to Sendgrid's IPs being blacklisted. We use Sendgrid precisely to ensure everyone receives our emails, but that doesn't always happen. I am glad to hear you got your Pro1!1 point

I should note that I never got a tracking number at all. It just arrived.1 point

The majority (2/3) of Pro1 pre-orders were placed in the first few months of us accepting pre-orders. Those were the small percentage of people who are happy to pre-order a product and wait for it. The biggest rush was in the first few days, as that's when everyone was rushing to be amongst the first. Most people who want a Pro1 haven't placed an order because it doesn't ship tomorrow like most people are used to. That is a segment we haven't explored yet as we haven't really launched with readily available stock. In contrast to how much we have shipped, the remaining orders are very few.1 point

The majority of the orders are complete. It's only natural for people to discuss a problem in the community, not the lack of. We barely ever hear from the customers who have received their devices in contrast to those who haven't. It's the cycle of purchasing a Pro1 - order > join the community to see if you're the only one waiting > receive the device a few months later > exit community. Of course, we are lucky to have very supportive Pro1 advocates who discuss the positive experiences with their Pro1, but a complain is typically a lot more of a reason to speak than a posit1 point

Sorry, couldn't resist the thread title. 😉 I posted this in the protective cases thread, but this isn't really about directly protecting the Pro1 but increasing the grip on the back of the Pro 1 which is quite slippery. I don't like putting cases on my phones (a bumper might be nice), but even if you are using a pouch or a case, if you ever use the phone outside the case, this could be relevant. I love how the naked Pro 1 feels in my hands, but I worried about the slickness of the back, especially when drawing it out of my pocket. A number of folks have used different non-case sol1 point

It does indeed charge fast when needed. But I will discourage the use of fast charging on a daily basis, as it heats the battery, and heat during charging shortens the lifespan of the battery significantly. So I advice to use the fast charge when in need, and a simple power source not above 5W (5V not above 1A) for daily usage. e.g. the USB port of a PC, or an old charger you got from an old phone. When charged while we are asleep, there are zero reasons to let it charge quickly. I usually compare fast charging with junk food, nice, convenient and it does not really harm if you eat it occ1 point

I have noticed that the two bottom corners of the Pro1 now have these small "blob" protrusions (see attached). Has anyone encountered these before?0 points

Good morning, I did not by myself. I went in a professional Mobile Care Center. It took 30 Euro and all is done with 2 years warranty. For me this are only phones and things to make my life easier. This is the reason why I sell it after the repair. You can spend hours and hours to get something to work on the Pro1 and come here for discussion. I don't need a new Love to play with, I want a good working product 😉0 points
