Rant: Why the F**** does F(x)tec not fix simple bugs?!
Slion replied to daniel.schaaaf's topic in Support
My guess is that software updates are basically on hold until they can actually resume shipping in volumes and there is no sign of this happening yet. -

It is annoying at first but I got used to it. I just hold the phone speaker further away from my ear I guess. -
Then I'm afraid I should remain on stock only until I get myself a second Pro1. Except that I got that botched OTA... does not compute.. ho crap. I'm guessing that for financial reasons OTAs are on pause until they get hardware manufacturing sorted out and significant volume in the hands of their customers.

Is that an option?

Glad you like Fulguris. It could be a while until I get to publish it on F-Droid. Until then it's good old downloads I'm afraid.
-
I thought they were supposed to provide another OTA that's fixing it. I can't be bothered doing a reset.
-
They have withdrawn the broken OTA, so yes. Unfortunately if you got that broken OTA then you are still stuck with it for now.

[Poll] Have You had any hardware issues with Your Pro1?

That bad? Stuck pixel would be a tough blow for me too. When did you get yours? -

Few things: Volume up button was sometimes not working. It seems to have fixed itself overtime though. The lower edge of the landscape screen is supposed to rest on two rubber pads once opened. In my case it only connects to one suggesting the assembly is not perfect. I'm guessing this is also causing some minor rattling when tapping certain parts of the screen both while closed or opened. When tightly closed with the screen unlocked, typically in your jeans, it keeps sending the letter 'C' as input. That's both hardware and software defect. None of those are show stopper -
It's the same issue with Chrome. Fulguris is just using Chrome through Android WebView. Nothing I can do I'm afraid. Though it could be that the sound issues are specific to Pro1. You could ask the web app developer for better Chrome support.

Nothing against Google services. It's possibly fairly easy to implement using that Speech Recognizer API. Thanks for the feedback. This one should definitely be implemented at some point but probably not so soon. I'll focus on consolidating the existing feature set before expanding.

Just published release v0.7.7. If you have home screen shortcuts to Fulguris you will need to recreate them. Hopefully it's fixing a nasty issue preventing to login to Google services. You may need to set back your user agent to default if you had changed it trying to workaround that issue.

Most impressive! That one is going to be hard to beat. I'm at 24 days right now.

The issue that v0.7.2 was supposed to fix isn't. Most visible on bbc.com and bbc.com/news front pages. I'll try to sort it out shortly. It was introduced in v0.7.1. However most properly designed web sites won't be affected.

Guess what, I just published release v0.7.1.

I'm afraid not much is going on on the software side. They even botched an update promising to fix it quick weeks ago and they still have not fixed it yet. F(x)tec relies on their manufacturing partner for the software too. However the quality of the initial software is such that not getting much update for a while is acceptable TBH. My guess is that if they can't produce significant hardware volume it does not make sense for them to keep investing in software. Luckily for us Lineage OS or other alternative should be available long term even if F(x)tec and partners do not survive the econ

That would be nice. I just opened an issue for that one. Though that won't be happening before the Play Store release.
-
Indeed but that seems to be work well enough regardless. The address bar is mostly hidden anyway in landscape, with the default settings that is.
-
Normally I would totally agree but Ctrl+Shift is still a two fingers shortcut on Pro1.

Even though Ctrl+Shift is very easy and natural to achieve with your left thumb?
