  1. Thanks for providing the details. My guess is that you have a single stream. I believe that the KeyOne is limited to a single stream due to only having a single antenna. My guess is also that the upload speed from the KeyOne to the router would be slowed down if other devices are transmitting at the same time on that channel, since you need 2 antennas with MU-MIMO to participate in it. That wouldn't affect downloading to the phone though, only uploading. The theoretical max for a single stream of 802.11ac, with 80MHz of bandwidth, is 433 Mbps. You are doing very well to get cl
  2. How does it hold onto the front part? For that matter, how does the bottom part hold on? Do you tape them in place?

  4. Yeah, there are a lot of those reasons that aren't phone related. But without the phone services paying for that infrastructure, those other things would take longer to pay for it. We're subsidizing some of that through our phone bills (which is a whole other emotional topic! LOL).
  5. I looked online and could only find a 32 GB version. I also found some wireless SSD drives, but they were much more expensive. Cool gadgets.
  6. Hey, now that's an interesting concept. Does it use its own protocols/apps to connect? Does it use wifi-direct or is it talking to the Pro1 through your wifi network? Can you transfer files between it and the Pro1 over wifi?
  7. Yes, that is certainly part of the benefit of newer protocols over older. They will cannibalize the older frequencies to make room for the newer, so you'll need the newer to get the same coverage you had with the older. If we are talking strictly bandwidth of 5G, here are some of the benefits: Fixed wireless broadband. This is not related to having it on our phones, but rather having the network in place so that wireless routers can be used to provide internet service to homes and businesses. But, similarly, a phone can serve as a wifi hotspot, as well, as you mentioned earlier.
  8. I'm not sure if you are asking about a new phone or a change to the Pro1. It would require a whole new chipset. At a minimum, it would require a 765 chipset in the 7xx line or an 855 in the 8xx line, assuming off-the-shelf chips from Qualcomm. For those who don't care about 5G, it isn't just a matter of true 5G connections. The 4G connections will often be faster too, as long as the vendors have taken advantage of the added 4G capabilities of the 5G modems. It will also mean the possibility of more 4G bands being supported.
  9. Yes, what will we all do when March comes and all the pre-orders are filled? Will we keep this around for discussing regular orders? :-)
  10. To be clear on this filesystem limitation... I would like to be able to format for exFAT so that I have maximum portability, not just for the rare case where I'll take the card out and put it in an SD card reader on my PC (because I won't do that often at all), but more for the case where something goes wrong and I need to use specialized recovery software to get the data off the card. Some of those tools require booting into their own OS, and the farther you get from standard Windows filesystems, the greater chance there is that they won't read the card (some may, some may not). The ot
  11. It may not be difficult, but it is just an extra pain to have to keep track of which files need to be concatenated and use specialized software. And it depends on the user. Some users aren't going to mess around with such things. Yes, that's an alternative option for people, as stated previously. I guess that's your choice. LOL :-)

  13. Yes, the key there is that you are using LineageOS. I don't know of a way to do it with stock android. Someone would need to compile a custom kernel for us, I believe.
  14. That is because the lower level APIs won't support files larger than 4GB. When google fixes this (in Android 11), if the applications support the fix, then they'll need to be smart about filesystem limitations, which will still be present on any phones that don't support filesystems that allow for larger than 4GB files and present on any phones where the user has elected to use FAT32 for their card. What method do you propose to allow Pro1 phones on the stock android to use EXT3/4 for the external SD and get around the mounting and permission issues of those filesystems? My under

Which is unfortunate, because we can add scratch protection to the screen. We can't easily add drop protection. *cough*pro2 hint*cough*flat, bezel screen*cough*
  16. Oddly enough, I believe fxtec is looking for people to share pictures taken *with* their phones, not pictures of the phone. I presume this is to highlight the camera quality.
  17. You could try a different file allocation size for exFAT. My guess is that fxtec didn't pay Microsoft for exFAT, so we won't be able to use it. That's too bad. You can try ext4, but even if it works, you'll have permission issues of apps accessing files they didn't create. I guess we are stuck with FAT32 for Android, unless someone creates a custom kernel to get around some of these issues. The problem is that we'll be limited to 4GB files for 4K video, which will limit us to about 12 minutes per clip. However, and I just learned this, Android's video APIs don't support files
  18. Do you mean that you couldn't format it with Android to exFAT, or do you mean you formatted it outside of Android and Android wouldn't read it? If you don't have a Windows machine to do the formatting, you can try an app like AParted to do it in Android. This is what I used for creating the dual partitions on my SD card in my current phone. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sylkat.AParted&hl=en_US It does require root. If you don't have your Pro1 rooted, but you have access to another rooted android phone, you can root it in one phone and move it to another.
  19. Adding some anecdotal data here. As I mentioned, I've been running apps off my SD card on my Relay 4G for years. It turns out I've been doing that on this particular SD card for just over 4 years. I found my Amazon order from December of 2015. I was doing it on a smaller card before that. My card is a 64 GB SanDisk Extreme 64GB microSDXC UHS-I. I have a 16 GB partition for applications, formatted as ext3. The rest is FAT32. I use the Link2SD app to create the links from the internal storage to the ext3 partition's files and folders, so the system thinks it is accessing the inte
  20. This is the exact reason why I will be formatting my card for exFAT, most likely. If I do want to take the card out and put it in my Windows computer, then I want to be able to read it. I might need to do this to recover data in the case of something going wrong. The number of recovery tools available goes down as you get further away from the most commonly used file systems. I'm not saying people shouldn't use other file systems if they want. I'm just saying that is my main reason for using exFAT. I know there are tools that allow other file systems to be read in Windows, but I just
  21. I'm pretty sure I've read that SanDisk does it on all their products now. There might be different algorithms and different types of NAND used in the high endurance/industrial versions vs the consumer versions though. For instance, like @Rob. S. was talking about, when using an SD card in a very demanding write application (Raspberry Pi operating system), even if a card has wear leveling, it might still fail faster than another card with different hardware and different wear leveling algorithms. A quick google seems to show that SanDisk, Toshiba, Kingston, Transcend and Samsung do wea
  22. Thanks. Any noticeable benefits of this over any others you have tried?
  23. Same here. I used ES File Explorer for years and then they went crazy with ads and bloat and I had to start freezing it in between uses. Glad to have a good replacement option. Thanks for posting it.
  24. So is this one that worked fine better or worse than other options (other brands)? And how does a person ensure they are getting the right one? Or is that not possible when buying from ebay for this brand? Have we found *any* Gen12 (swivel) cables where the tip that stays in the Pro1 doesn't touch the surface when the Pro1 is lying flat?
