By now I have the issue that if I consciously try to open the device it's difficult and confusing but if I don't think about it it basically opens itself for me 😂 . There's definitely a learning curve for some of us.

I have looked at fixing this in software, last few commits here: https://github.com/netman69/android_kernel_idealte_msm8998/blob/lineage-16.0/drivers/input/keyboard/aw9523b.c A patch was sent the right way already :).

+1 it's never happened to me accidently and I feel like i have fat sausage fingers usually

It's exactly as @Craig states above. I don't have the feeling I am using one thumb more than another but it took some getting used to as i expect intuitively tab/caps/shift to be immediately adjacent to qaz.

For others who may wonder, my experience here is different, must depend on your hands or so... I find the keyboard pretty comfortable in general after about a week of use. It's nicer than n900 to me and i have 0 issues using the number row without touching the screen, i'd have to try to activate them simultaneously. The only time i accidently touch the screen often is while opening the device, it can be tricky, but it seems to get easier with time. It does need more thumb movement than the last keyboard phone i used, a nokia e72, but there are many more keys and the device is more functional.

I guess we need votes from various people somehow to get views more than votes because it seems weird now there are more votes than views xD...

I have stared at it plenty, nothing says "cheap"... It's beatifully made 🙂.

i checked out LOS briefly for the first time on pro1 and it seemed very nice 🙂 stock turns out to be more practical for testing something i'm poking at though, so i'm stuck with that for a while

i do wish in android pie a longpress on recents button would open split screen, like it was in nougat... lineage still does so and im probably gonna move to that eventually

I don't see any glue or so with the screen, it looks pretty nice to me... Not a huge fan of the curved edges yet but I really wouldn't say the device looks cheap in any way.

Also funny the setting is in system instead of accessibility where you'd feel it'd belong... And named "swipe up on home button"?!?

You supposed to rub it left/right/up/down i think, I tried it for a few minutes got angry and googled how to turn it off (which was fairly straightforward because i remember the normal buttons being named "navigation cluster"). Maybe they default disable it for pixel?

If you don't want to root the phone ever, etc, then follow this:

This is the android pie replacement for what was called the navigation cluster, it's very annoying but luckily you can turn it off. Go to settings->system->gestures->"swipe up on home button" and turn the only setting there off, then it will be normal :). I have no clue what they were thinking at google, but they made that and now almost every modern phone is like that by default.

That doesn't seem right at all, there has to be some software issue. Unless the keyboard is open tapping the search bar in firefox gives me virtual keyboard instantly. Have you verified all the firmware updates are installed? And please do check what erik said :).

If we continue at the current pace it can reach 1st place before the end I think, but even 2nd place is good I think :). At least we have to prove pro1 is cooler than a supplement pill dispenser that tries to sell you a subscription :D.
