B-B-But then you might keep the phone going for, what, 3 or 4 years instead of buying a new one. 😉

Opened the display up (removed the 5 screws on the back and pried open. Everything looked good as far as I could see. Cable loked new, connections solid, clean as a whistle in there (why are whistles clean? I would think they'd be germy 😉 ) One curious thing. When I went to re-screw, the top left (landscape) screw hole was somehow magnetized. It kept repelling the screw. I got out one of my replacement screws from China thinking it was the screw that had become magnetized, but that screw was repelled to. I did finally fight it in and screwed it down, but I don't remember anything l

I tried flexing and also running my fingers over the sides, but nothing seemed to be affected either way.

Well, it has now become a more or less permanent situation (not touch screen, not black out) Many reboots will sometimes get it back, but it seems to spontaneously go back to no touch in little time. I'll check the screen cable, but if that does nothing, I'll see what FxTec can do for me. If that doesn't work, I'll give my local shop a challenge. 😄

MY Pro1 screen was replaced in Jan 2021 by FxTec and has worked perfectly until about 2 days ago, This is so weird that I have to give a very thorough description, Suddenly out of the blue either the screen will stop responding to any touch—however, keys still work and you can, for instance, select apps with arrow keys—or the screen goes totally black. When the screen goes black, it as if the Pro1 is off (powered off) except the keyboard is backlit When it first occurred a power-button reset would fix it. By power-button reset, I mean holding the power button until the Pro1 spontaneou

The only place official updates will happen is the IGG updates because the store won't have stock to ship before they are shipped to IGG backers. The November update, when it comes, will either say the are ready to begin production and shipping, or it will provide the latest delay. 🙂 -
Unfortunately, I'm not much help here. I simply us Magisk for SU, so I flashed it as a zip and never even open Magisk Manager. I don't care about safetynet for anything I do.

Google Maps does fine with my location, but I had to agree to allow it to use location services or whatever they call it. It was a pop-up that showed up when I hit the locate icon. I'm using Open Gapps, but I wouldn't expect that to make a difference.
 -
Updated to the 10 November weekly via OTA. All went smoothly and root was maintained, November security patch.
 -
We don't know yet. All information anyone has is in the posted Indiegogo updates.
 -
Yes, this always happened in my case. MMS worked. Not SMS.
 -
I believe they said they were addressing the AT&T problem in the IGG comments, but it's so far back, I'm not going hunting for it to see if I remember right. 😉

This is indeed the most common break-down with Verizon on the Pro 1. As you'll find from scrolling through the Verizon thread it happened to me twice. There wasn't n identifiable set of steps that cured it the first time. The second time, I just gave up. My Verizon sim is now in a cheap Moto phone and there is a cheap T-Mobile sim in my Pro1. T-mobile may not be good for you, but if it is, I recommend the change. The only thing I can suggest, if you haven't (and I suspect you have) is to repeat the precise steps in this post and see if it restores things. Sorry, I'm not much h

If you are talking about the pre-order on their web site, yes, from the language there, I assume you can. It should ask you sometime during the order before you pay to select which OS you want it to ship with. I don't know this for sure as I haven't pre-ordered from the web site (I backed it way back when on IGG), but I would expect it to be this way,
 -
You want to order the version with Ubuntu Touch. Android is obviously Android and Lineage is AOSP, which is Android also.
 -
If you are returning a Pro1 for warranty repair, I assume you have been in contact with them by email. They will have provided the correct address in their email instructing you to send the Pro1 in. If you haven't been in contact with them, you shouldn't just send it in.

Updated to the 03 November weekly via OTA. All went smoothly and root was maintained, October security patch.
 -
Just, FYI, I am not getting this. Could an app you have be triggering this?
 -
Updated to the 27 OCT weekly via OTA. All went smoothly and root was maintained, October security patch.
 -
Not in my case. I went back to Lineage for a while to keep up with security updates. But given the version of Android has changed, I think it would be risky. On the other hand, why not try it... the worst that happens is you end up having to wipe after all, but maybe it will work. Just back up your data.

F(x) Tec has now posted a repair guide with links to the above videos (though hard to notice... the active links are in the section titles, not the graphics). There is a note about further information on the FAQ page which isn't there, so I hope that is something being worked on. https://store.fxtec.com/fix-your-broken-smartphone-screen/ EDIT: I just now noticed the date on this repair blog page-- March 4th 2021. I certainly had no idea it was there (so, as the thread title says new to me 😉). I only discovered it when one of the regulars over on Discord found it.

It's exactly 30 days since the previous update. I would expect one by Friday,. -
Worked fine with OTA as well. 🙂

A big problem you would have is that AT&T has also been kicking off Pro1s and I don't expect it to be any different with the Pro1x. AT&T, after for years being willing to accept any phone and let you deal with whether or not it worked, has decided to only allow whitelisted phones that they have approved in their database. This is disappointing. I used AT&T pre-paid for years, starting when they were Cingular Prepaid. I left AT&T before they started pulling this and am on T-Mobile now, but it is disappointing.

Honestly, this is why I happily carry two phones, a Moto G8 Power and my Pro1. My Moto is my phone phone. Phone calls, sms/mms, Android Auto hands free functions, all my stubbornly portrait apps which are mostly bank and commercial apps I mostly use out in the world anyway. My Pro1 I use for writing, editing, notes (including a Bonsai like hierarchical note app that along with Textmaker gives me the basic capability of Scrivener across 3 platforms), browsing, email, ssh, things I would never do on a portrait phone even with a keyboard (I find portrait keyboards frustrating-- just too small
