  1. This is just weird. I tested it just before I posted before I a swear it was working. But closer examination seems to show a highly varied response of different apps in terms of a) whether they autocapitalize, b) whether they follow the soft keyboarsd setting and c) whether they offer a control of their own for Autocapitalization. This is all in terms of what the hardware keyboard does in the case of having the AOSP soft keyboard with the Autocapitalization setting. Aquamail, based on K-9 , ignores the setting and always Autocapitalizes, as does Google messages. The Browser Fulguris ignor
  2. Again, as far as I can tell, this is controlled by the the soft keyboard. AOSP keyboard has sticky shift (but no setting for it) but it does have an autocapitilization toggle. If you turn it off in the soft keyboard, the hardware keyboard no longer does it.
  3. Sadly, this is the problem with jerry-rigged solutions and putting the Pro1 on Verizon is jerry-rigging (the mule SIM which fools the network into thinking the Pro1 is a different phone). Jerry-rigged solutions break. I had my Pro1 working on Verizon on stock for three months and it broke. Later, on LOS 18.1 I got it working again, but I didn't like the anxiety of knowing it could (and probably would) break again. This led me to a solution most people don't like but I have come to love. I have a (relatively) cheap Moto G8 Power as my phone, car phone (Android Auto) and out in the world com
  4. I think we are saying the same thing. Maybe I wasn't clear-- I do not always have the terminology right. All I was saying is that, if recovery is showing you are on partition a: and you adb sideload the update, it still shows partition a: You then have to reboot to recovery and it shows you are now on partition b: Wnat actually accomplishes the change in partition is magic to a noob like me. 😄 And yes, reboot to recovery is not needed after Magisk and Gapps.
  5. I obviously don't build LOS, but I've never had a problem with Gapps showing up when sideloading LOS via ADB. I have always used @tdm instructions, as mentioned by @EskeRahn. I adb sideload the latest LOS nightly, then reboot to recovery, which changes you from the a/b partition you were on to the other a/b partion where the update was installed. Then I adb sideload Magisk and Gapps (in that order, if it makes a difference-- I don't think it does).
  6. Sticky shift (and super-sticky-shift) work fine here on 18.1, using AOSP as soft keyboard as @claude0001 indicated.
  7. I switched my keyboard to US International and it seems to work for me.
  8. Using English(US) layout, it does (except with software that takes over the keyboard like Softmaker Office).
  9. I hope you are half pulling our leg about the swelled battery for years and the external cooling fan. Lol I'm not sure how Verizon will handle you if you are grandfathered in on an old plan. The Pro1 will work on Verizon following the instructions in this thread. https://community.fxtec.com/topic/2133-fxtec-on-verizon/page/5/?tab=comments#comment-41839 But this method requires that you have a Verizon SIM that has been activated in an approved phone with VoLTE. If you have that, you should be fine. But there is no way to know for sure in advance. I chose to have a sepa
  10. Again, if it makes a difference, I never have used Trebuchet. I use Nova sometimes and Launch Time sometimes (can't make up my mind which I like better because, since I rarely use my Pro1 in portrait, it really doesn't make much difference)
  11. For what it's worth, I never have auto-rotate turned on. That allows me to occasionally use rotate lock (the little weird icon that mysteriously pops up in the nav bar-- though it may pop up without the nav bar) to get specific rotation effects. I use it to lock Kindle in portrait while I have keyboard out as a handle for easier holding while reading... Kindle in landscape sucks! 😉 I never have trouble with apps not going into landscape when keyboard is out unless the app just doesn't do landscape at all and the auto rotate doesn't help. I've always kept autorotate off on all my phone
  12. I'm not quite sure I understand the first one. When I open the task switcher in landscape, cards for apps able to do landscape are in landscape and apps that don't do landscape are in sideways portrait-- because they can't do landscape. In eiher case the cards slide to the right or left and the icons are at the top. <shrug> The second one, I dunno, since I use a nav bar and not gestures. 😉
  13. This thread may help. I haven't done any of this because I don't care about this stuff, but from comments I've seen there is stuff in this thread that works. I think @Rob. S. has messed with all this most recently and will probably be more helpful than me.
  14. I use MindTheGapps from last April. http://downloads.codefi.re/jdcteam/javelinanddart/gapps Others hve used OpenGapps, nano or pico. I believe, but don't remember source, troubles come with the bigger packages.
  15. I will mention that Manjaro Linux on my Thinkpad X230 has no problems with either fastboot or ADB with what is installed by default with the OS. I use the yollow-tongued USB port(no SS designation), not the blue tongued one (designated SS). 😉
  16. I also have doubts they would be planning on flashing the phones in the UK. Maybe they did that with the 10 Xmas phones, but I don't believe they have the people or set-up to do anything on a mass scale. I think everything will be shipped from HK, as the Pro1s were.

    Weird VoLTE problem

Okay... never mind. I switched VoLTE back on just now and it works fine. Bloody gremlins. 😄
  18. I'm glad I don't depend on my Pro1 to be a phone. I am still using my deconvergence strategy: https://community.fxtec.com/topic/3132-the-best-pda-ever/?tab=comments#comment-52248 However, I do have a T-Mobile sim in the phone, though it is only there to provide data. I never give out the number. So when I got a call out of the blue today, I figured it was spam (it was) but it went to voice mail. So I decided to check my voice mail. When I made the call, an "HD" symbol appeared and all I heard was electronic chirping instead of the voicemail greeting. I tried calling from my moto
  19. Yes, when doing a full new install, including Boot Image, you need to factory reset, though I would think factory resetting before installing the boot image (on stock) ought to have been good enough since that would have wiped user data. That is the main thing, you are right. You need to wipe user data for a fresh install.
  20. First boot takes maybe an extra minute or two, but I don't know if that is Magisk or the Lineage first boot (as whenever I have flashed Magisk I have also sideloaded a new nightly of Lineage). I usually plan to get a fresh coffee whenever I boot after updating via ADB. When I come back everything is up and working. 😄
  21. I sideload Magisk 23.0, but I only use it for SU, I don't use any modules. I don't even open the manager. To do this, I use the depreciated method of renaming the apk to zip and doing adb sideload. That's it. I don't have to do anything else and Lineage boots fine. The SU function also survives OTA updates.
  22. In Lineage 18.1, just pressing the left Alt key seems to work, unless (this is just a theory) the app takes over the keyboard assignments. So, for example, Google Messages (sms), Aquamail, Facebork Messenger (don't judge me, Mrs. Hook insists on using it) and a text editor,Markor, will all give me an emoji pallatte when I press left Alt. However, Softmaker Textmaker, which hasit's own key assignment shortcuts, does not. It may depend on what soft keyboard you are using. I use the AOSP keyboard and it has an actual setting to have emoji appear when using the physical keyboard.
  23. One other possibility-- I've seen people here talking about charging from being fairly low battery. I never drop below 40% and am usually above 50% (what can I say-- I'm retired and I don't go anywhere 😄 ). It could be the struggle is recovering from very low battery.
  24. I am updating weekly and not seeing this problem. I just updated to the 16 August nightly, although there isn't much in this latest update.
