  1. I was, of course, half joking. But, actually, I guess Mrs. Hook and I are just different from a lot of folks. She has her money and I have my money. We share expenses (proportional to differences in income), both contribute to savings, but we each spend our money as we like after that. She has her obsessions and I have mine. 😉
  2. Again, as people have pointed out, this is Android, not the Pro1. If you don't have it on, you can switch to the three button navigation bar in settings, It has been so long since I have had stock android on the phone I don't remember where the setting is in Android 9. In Android 11 it is under settings --> system settings. The square button will allow you to view all open apps and switch apps. Android was designed to manage closing apps itself and, in general, manage it's own memory. It does a pretty good job, so let it. If you really insist on closing an app, hit the square butt
  3. Hi, esme, I'm assuming you have had something seriously go wrong with your Pro1 and, yes, I understand your feeling it is urgent, especially if you don't have a back-up phone. They may not get back to you as quickly as you would like (the queue of emails to the helpdesk is not small), but they will get back to you. In my dealings with them, they have always gotten back to me, but it varies between a couple of days and 2 weeks.
  4. Well, it's way past January 2021 and I have been using my Pro1 on T-mobile just fine, and now, while the Pro1 is being repaired, I am using my Pinephone just fine on T-mobile. This is prepaid-- I can't speak to post-paid. From what I can tell, AT&T is most dead set on it being an approved phone. Verizon is somewhere in-between. As long as a phone has VoLTE and a SIM muled in an approved Verizon device, it can go on the network, but then, for some people, things will stop working, while others seem to have good success. T-Mobile seems only to care if it is VoLTE although, chances

    My Pro1 died?

When I sent my Pro1 in for repair, it took them only one month to get it back to me and this was last January when they were scrambling because they had lost their 835 SOC for the Pro1x. I know others' experience has been different, but this was mine. Even though I now have a long wait for a replacement screen (supplied under warranty) —I think they won't have the screens until they are ready to manufacture (and therefore have all the parts), hopefully January—I have had nothing but great experiences with their CS/Tech support. YMMV, but that's my experience.
  6. November update is here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/pro1-x-smartphone-functionality-choice-control/x/17980121#/updates/all
  7. The update is here, just making November. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/pro1-x-smartphone-functionality-choice-control/x/17980121#/updates/all
  8. There is no mention of 30 days. It can be interpreted as calendar month. They have one more day to meet their obligation. 😉
  9. When I used stock ages ago, I used an app called Edge Null to set the screen margins. Worked pretty nicely, IIRC. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.meatcube.edgenull
  10. Most people never had to. The Pro1 comes with the bootloader unlocked.
  11. It's a little bit apples and oranges, AliExpress is a large distribution expediter that can afford to keep all kinds of parts stocked in large quantities. FxTec doesn't have the capital to keep large volumes of parts on hand and I'm pretty sure they have ordered/are ordering all the parts at once for assembling the Pro1x (including all the spare screen assemblies they need and which have been ordered on IGG) to minimize their costs. I should point out that I don't actually know this is what is going on, but it would be my guess.
  12. I believe any Pro1 has the two year warranty since the change to one year was made somewhere around March 2021 and I don't think any Pro1s were being supplied at that time. In my case (my touchscreen stopped working ), they agreed that, since I took reception of my Pro1 in December 10th, 2019, I was still under warranty. Just be aware that you will have to be patient as while they will likely agree to the screen replacement, you will have to be patient as they have no screens in stock and likely won't until the Pro1x becomes available.
  13. Or just factory reset. Flash LOS 18 when it comes back.
  14. I don't know the answer to what's going on here (maybe a sensor?), but I just wanted to assure you warranty repair does not depend on being on stock. When I sent mine in a year ago it was on AICP. They don't care. 🙂
  15. I emailed support. They are going to send me a new screen assembly under warranty (they honored my two years and accepted my date of reception (Dec 10th, 2019) as the mark on the wall. Of course, it will be a long while before I get it (probably not until the Pro1x is ready would be my guess), but I have to say my experiences with FxTec CS have been excellent!
  16. B-B-But then you might keep the phone going for, what, 3 or 4 years instead of buying a new one. 😉
  17. Opened the display up (removed the 5 screws on the back and pried open. Everything looked good as far as I could see. Cable loked new, connections solid, clean as a whistle in there (why are whistles clean? I would think they'd be germy 😉 ) One curious thing. When I went to re-screw, the top left (landscape) screw hole was somehow magnetized. It kept repelling the screw. I got out one of my replacement screws from China thinking it was the screw that had become magnetized, but that screw was repelled to. I did finally fight it in and screwed it down, but I don't remember anything l
  18. I tried flexing and also running my fingers over the sides, but nothing seemed to be affected either way.
  19. Well, it has now become a more or less permanent situation (not touch screen, not black out) Many reboots will sometimes get it back, but it seems to spontaneously go back to no touch in little time. I'll check the screen cable, but if that does nothing, I'll see what FxTec can do for me. If that doesn't work, I'll give my local shop a challenge. 😄
  20. MY Pro1 screen was replaced in Jan 2021 by FxTec and has worked perfectly until about 2 days ago, This is so weird that I have to give a very thorough description, Suddenly out of the blue either the screen will stop responding to any touch—however, keys still work and you can, for instance, select apps with arrow keys—or the screen goes totally black. When the screen goes black, it as if the Pro1 is off (powered off) except the keyboard is backlit When it first occurred a power-button reset would fix it. By power-button reset, I mean holding the power button until the Pro1 spontaneou
  21. The only place official updates will happen is the IGG updates because the store won't have stock to ship before they are shipped to IGG backers. The November update, when it comes, will either say the are ready to begin production and shipping, or it will provide the latest delay. 🙂
  22. Unfortunately, I'm not much help here. I simply us Magisk for SU, so I flashed it as a zip and never even open Magisk Manager. I don't care about safetynet for anything I do.
  23. Google Maps does fine with my location, but I had to agree to allow it to use location services or whatever they call it. It was a pop-up that showed up when I hit the locate icon. I'm using Open Gapps, but I wouldn't expect that to make a difference.
  24. Updated to the 10 November weekly via OTA. All went smoothly and root was maintained, November security patch.
