  1. I'm going to go over Ethan's changes today. My first thought is to remove all the power related changes and just take the cleanup changes until we test more thoroughly. I'll post later after I discuss with him.

  2. Every OEM is supposed to "tune" the panel for proper display colors at the factory. This takes very specialized and expensive equipment. It is a one-time procedure for a given panel, and the results are encoded into the stock software to make the display look better. It is possible (I would say likely, even) that IdeaLTE has not done this. Or perhaps they did it for a previous iteration of the display panel but switched suppliers and didn't do it again for the new one. There isn't really a way to know without having FxTec contact IdeaLTE and ask. This is also likely why the di

  3. Despite the more aggressive power management, to my surprise the Test21 is substantially MORE power-hungry than Test20?!? see below from 3C All-in-one toolbox. (It looks similar on the rooted) - note also the x on the WiFi, Mobile data, the screen dump is taken shortly after unlocking with fingerprint. Roughly at ratio 7:4 or a factor 175% And no, there aren't additional stuff running. I checked with Greenify and Android Assistant and only a few user and system apps I explicitly have white-listed are running

  4. Okay so I got all the code cleaned up reasonably well and all my tests checked out. So Nolen is currently importing everything into Lineage as I write this. It should be done shortly, and then I will add the pro1 to the list of official Lineage 16.0 builds. I'm not sure exactly which day the first official build will roll out. After all of that is done, I should probably create a discussion thread for official Lineage 16.0, and of course I'll be immediately starting work on 17.1. That should hopefully only take a few days, and then I can do a short testing period before switchi

  5. Actually, scratch that. I've got other stuff I need to do today and Nolen just received his Pro1 an hour ago. So I'll let him have a go at this for a while. He's already got several things fixed, including fixing the display density, enabling the camera button by default, and fixing the fingerprint location image in the setup wizard. He should be able to track down the WiFi and power issues also.

  6. If I have understand right the color tone issue on OLED screens is usually caused by a greater variation on panels than the manufacturer initially expected. Then the pixels of different colors on the screen behave little bit differently. Manufacturer need to map how much any color needs to be dimmed so that the brightness of the screen is exactly the same for each color. If this mapping is wrong, we get to a situation where some color is brighter at some brightness level than others which causes color tone issue. OnePlus 8 Pro had the same issue during launch but OnePlus was able to fix (at le

  8. Please take a look at the kernel history on my github. There was no rebase between test20 and test21 so the kernel history is linear and both tags appear in a simple log. The qcacld merge was complete for test20.

  9. Well, at this time we have already learned to be a bit patient. I just wanted to confirm if this was the case with everyone else. Since it is, no need for me to worry something went awry with mine.

  10. On the positive side, when I was told to wait a couple of weeks for my replacement screen, it was sent without me knowing it. I hope the same goes for the assigned phones 😌

  11. I guess I was lucky with my case. It was a freebie off Wish.com, (can't post a link, sorry), took about 2 months to arrive, but the phone fits perfectly and the cover closes completely. Just used a hole punch to make holes where they were needed and "voilà". The shutter button isn't very accessible, I don't use it anyway. There's 2 blisters near the volume buttons, but these are for the Huawei P20 so don't line up with the Pro1 controls, but with a bit of groping about along there the volume buttons do work. I've softened the PU of the magnetic clasp so when the case is open it falls dow

  12. I see a lot of disconnects/reconnects with my WiFi as well. It's even happening while watching a YouTube video. Could this also be aggressive switching between 2.4 and 5GHz? Edit: I'm also getting a message to please disable airplane mode on my first call attempt after waking my phone.

  14. So, I recently received my new screen incl. digitizer from ali(express). It had unfortunately cracked the screen from the speaker and down about 3.5cm to the left edge (from a 20cm drop, but still my fault, so nothing to pun fxtec about) First thing I noticed when I was taking the phone/screen apart, was the the "glue" was rather uneven distributed, and that the screen had cracked between the glued part and the "not so glued part". Perhaps they have to look into that process? Second thing, it seems like this screen is better at displaying colors at lower brightness than the original

  15. I have maybe idea about fix amoled colors/brightness. How about find stock firmware for elephone with same display, unpack/decompile it and find display settings? Maybe have elephone same problem with colors but i mean that on elefone will be all ok. Here must be settings something like : when is brightness set to 50% then colors will be red 70%, green 60%, blue 50 and white 50...approx. good or bad idea? here is: http://www.mediafire.com/file/8hg1rl60o0bef1y/Elephone_U_Pro_20180227_QFIL.zip/file

  17. Test21 seems to be a little TOO aggressive on the power save, When left idle it decouples the WiFi so check for mail and the like is not performed. When unlocking you can see that the WiFi icon is not there, and only appears after a short while. If you immediately after unlock open something that uses the net (say Android Market) it reports "No internet", but clicking retry and it will work once it has reconnected. This aggressive option can be very nice for special use cases, like when the battery is close to depletion, or when you need an extra long stamina for say a trip. But

  18. just for conclusion, I replaced the screen and it's working again now 🙂 Just a hint: don't forget pulling of the plastic sheet at the back of the screen at the speaker/camera, realized it after it was glued in...

  19. Note that your image indicates you placed the magnet a bit away from the sensor, so if if you experience problems, you might want to try to move it a bit. See the image I added here

  20. I am using a PURO 1-in-2 magnet flip case for Huawei P30 Pro with my Pro1. See the pictures below. https://imgur.com/a/a8A7iZT I am not using the separate hard case so the Pro1 is attached to leather flip case with double sided tape. Also, a small magnet is added under the leather where you normally place a credit card so flip case can be used with Fx Service. I think that the end result is pretty neat. Later on, I might try to create a magnet hard case that can by used with my flip case. However, I am not sure if the thickness is enough for separate hard case.

  21. The point is that if it weren't for WhatsAp not supporting Maemo, I'd probably still be working with my N900. So yeah, Maemo would be nice. I found that a very intuitive OS.

  22. And for hardware, I'd hoped for IR and mentioning it for years, only major hardware feature we're missing. I've never had fm transmitter but that'd be a lot easier than bluetooth in many situations. And if it could broadcast hdfm wouldnt even have quality concerns.

  23. Interesting how different usage patterns are. I never used either of these functions (nor have I missed them on the phones that did not offer them). This make me wish for the dead ARA-project. It would make so much sense to have a common base, and then add what each individual preferred. It could serve a lot of different low volume user groups. e.g. we could have had a keyboard slider as a special frame, And used standard components on the screen and back sides.

  25. @CornholioGSM Well, the firmware shouldn´t change by changing the screen, or does it? Your approach with changing the RGB output at given brightnesses is good though. Is that done with the app you linked? My internet is horrible and downloading 3GB would take me an entire day... @Slion While the app is quite good, it doesn´t seem to change color output. Even with the filter active as an overlay, at a certain brightness setting the screen is greenish. Even if the brightness is lower or higher by default. This is the case with around 15-50% system brightness. You can also see th
