  1. As I said, I never intended to use stock, so I had it for a grand total of 5 minutes before switching to LineageOS. I did not try any phone calls in it. I do not believe that the telephony stack is changed between stock and LineageOS (I think @tdm even confirmed that at some point). So, either I am just lucky with my Pro1, or it is indeed just a matter of usage pattern. Maybe I also simply have too low expectations: with all the AV-conferences we do these days, I have by now made so many bad experiences with audio connections (phones, laptops, microphones, ...) that I've come to the

  3. Hey, I'm thinking about selling my Pro1-X, the pre-christmas perk (SD 835, 6gb ram/128gb rom), in mint conditions-no scratches, like new one, original box, charger, screen protector, pouch, headphones-everything what was supplied with the phone, warranty is still 22month. I was used to portrait keyboard (had BB passport), the landscape keyboard I'm not using too often. I would sell it for +- the price I paid for it, shipping to EU, I'm in Czech Republic. If you would be interested, please email me on [email protected]

  4. Anyone with a bit of experience in the industry could have told you from the start that software was going to be a problem. FxTec knew that too and that is why they made sure open source solutions are available. Projects like the Pro1 where a handful of people can deliver such an advanced device are made possible today because we have hardware platforms that are available with ready to use software platforms. That is very convenient for both small and large smart device manufacturers as they can get started with their project very easily. The keyword here is 'started'. Cause once you boot

  5. Interesting, are you on stock? I have seen others with the same complaints as me. It could be that it is a matter of usage pattern. When I got the first call on my new used phone recently, I was surprised after all I had read that call-in audio was perfectly normal and ok for a smartphone (and the caller, while I didn't ask him about it, at least didn't complain about what he got from me, either). Several days later I got a phone call that was so loud I had to hold the phone away from my ear (on the lowest volume setting). Ah! I thought, so that's what everyone was complaining

  7. Here's a top half for SailfishOS edge swipes. Looser than the Lineage build but still holds onto the screen. The bottom half is getting closer. The holes have now been tapered to allow for successful presses, FP reads. All that's left is to align the USB and the headphone jack. @MaplesteelI have paypal.

  8. I remember all the Facebook ads, showing the Pro1 being used in a business setting, outside at a cafe, with business apps open, etc. This was not marketed for tech enthusiasts. They promised, multiple times, to provide Android 10, and it hasn't happened. I think with the Pro1-X, they are now pivoting to a more tech enthusiast stance. But the original phone was meant to be able to be used with stock, and while the OS is relatively stable, the little issues here and there just make for a somewhat lackluster experience overall. I have half a mind to get rid of it and go back to my Pixel 2 XL, but

  9. I can not agree with you there. I would agree that tech enthusiast can got more out of the device, by switching the OS from stock. But that is not quite the same as it not being useful on Stock. I have been using my retail unit with stock since November 2019. Sure I tried out the other roms on other units, but I'm yet to use them for other than tests. It is driving me nuts, that voice calls only really work in a satisfactory way with a headset, but as I would guess I usually have a few minutes voice calls a week (no matter the device), for me it is a nuisance more than a deal breaker (I mu

  11. After almost a year with my Pro1, all I am left with is utter disappointment and a reluctance to use this "phone". Yes, I am actually thinking about going back to my Moto Z Play. The hardware is alright, and the keyboard is fine. However, the software is lacking, non-existent or buggy at best. F(x)tec has done nothing to address any of the known software issues. Instead, they released a "new" piece of hardware, the Po1-X. If anyone from F(x)tec is reading this: Get your sh*t together and fix the software before anything else! 12. Here's one other thing that, for the time being, stops me from using Fulguris: the Bitwarden password manager app doesn't recognise the page which I have opened, like 'community.fxtec.com', to look up the related login. It always only sees Fulguris' package name, 'net.slions.fulguris.full.playstore' in my case, for which it obviously doesn't find a login. I saw this happen with some other no-so-well-known browsers, too. I'm not sure whether this is something that could be changed from within Fulguris at all. It might be that the Bitwarden app would rather need to be informed that the app

  13. ok @belletrist, when you are confident/feeling relatively finalized in the lineage design, let's sync up over PM or whatever so we can exchange paypals, addresses etc 🙂 *rubs hands together evilly* "goood, goood"

  14. You could use a random slashdot.org article, desktop mode. Enlarging the view far enough that the text width doesn't fit anymore (some pages don't need to be enlarged, but I didn't find one from memory), it's cut off from the view. Opera would then start wrapping the text so that it fits again. The "Text reflow" option doesn't do it, I'm afraid.

  15. Could well be, I have not experimented with it, but it would make sense if it broke the checksum. Most likely it would be a more safe way to have it delivered through an App, the FinQWERTY way.

  16. Also recently I got a few other telephony issues: Impossible to answer or reject a phone call: the dialog with green and red buttons comes up but you can't push the buttons. Once you answer a phone call the screen goes black and you can't do anything until the call has ended. Most annoying if you are online with a bot that expects you to push buttons. Both issues were fixed after a couple of reboots. Yes one on them was still there after the first reboot.

  17. Any chance, perhaps, to get the "text wrap" option into Fulguris that I love so much in Opera (and only one other browser of the huge number I tried, I think it was Yandex)? I.e. forcing text blocks to wrap at the screen's edge instead of flowing outside the screen, having us scroll horizontally for each line.

  20. Could be that it is echo I have not asked for details, nor have I tried to experiment with someone else talking in my phone. I think there is a huge difference in not fixing a bug, or aPple style claiming that it does not exist. As to the WHY it has not been fixed is anyone's guess. Maybe they tried the swap and it did not help, or had other side effects, Maybe it never reached so high on the ToDo list that it was even attempted fixed. I actually had plans (and started the skeleton) for such an app before I even had the preproduction unit in early 2019. I intended it as a PC

  21. Do people complain about an echo? That's the feedback I get when I use the speaker and my Pro1 is lying on a flat surface. A simple fix would be to use the upper speaker, instead of the lower speaker, which sits next to the microphone. Instead, I feel reminded of how Apple treats their customers: You are holding it wrong! 😉

  22. I must say that I never had issues with voice calls. And do not even own a head set so I use only the built-in audio, either holding the phone to my ear or in hands-free speaker mode.

  23. They provided pre-production devices to community devs, specifically to allow them to port their OS's. They do the same with the Pro1-X now. In their latest announcement (see this thread) they write that they actually do Ubuntu development in-house.
    1 point
  24. Yes, that is exactly what I mean. The way how FxTec pushed alternative OS development since the development phase (remember all the early videos showing Sailfish and Ubuntu running on pre-production units) tells me they at least suspected that keeping their official Android software polished and up-to-date would get difficult. Still, they kept up the image of a "standard" high-end consumer device that just-works (tm) out-of the box and receives its OTAs for a few years, without users having to care about these things. Like an iPhone or so. With the Pro1-X, they now honestly (and

  25. I have had mine for more than half a year now and am quite happy with it. I hope you will be too. There is one more modification I made: I figured the "stand" feature is useless with the Pro1, as the keyboard mechanism allows to incline the screen anyways (e.g. for watching movies or having video conferences), so I glued the soft shell to the leather cover over the full area of the back. You may or may not choose to do this, but, for me, it made the case more useful in everyday life.

  26. Afaik you can get exFat support, if you are rooted with magisk, by installing a magisk module for it.

  27. Excellent, thank you! Perhaps then I might even be able to add it to my device without changing the running system... Must have a deeper look into it some day.

  29. I can completely understand your point of view. You bought an expensive phone and expect it to just work out-of-the-box. Essentially, you compare the Pro1 to other top-range phones by major manufacturers. You have every right to do so. Unfortunately, it seems pretty clear to me that FxTec is (and always will be) unable provide a phone that is polished to the level "normal" customers (no offense!) will expect, given its price tag. I think FxTec could have prevented that kind of disappointment by stating more openly that the Pro1 is (at least primarily) intended as a device for tech enthusi

Title: "Main Website" contains links mainly to "Pro¹X" information but "Community" only has a tab for "Pro¹" Description: Navigation of the "Main Website" and the "Community" website is difficult. Currently, most links link to the Pro¹X instead of the Pro¹. If, for example, a user needs specification information about the Pro¹, the user must first access the "Community" link in the header of the "Main Website", then click on the "Pro¹" tab to access its features page. The disjointed websites need to be updated to ensure a quality customer experience. Ca

  31. It could be that they're simply not able to improve the software that much. As far as I know, the mainboard manufacturer is the one providing the stock Android for the device, and Fxtec might be mostly limited to what they can make them do, which doesn't seem to be all too much. Which might just have been why they've contacted the XDA developers community with the plan to get an official LineageOS and an official Ubuntu Touch OS for the phone. My first few weeks with the Pro1 under LineageOS 17.1 (it was a used device with LineageOS already installed) are nothing like your experience. A

  34. Well, I'm happy I ordered a Pro1X. I think the color is growing on me and I will now have one for a daily driver and one for OS related experiments that I'm too timid to try on my daily driver. 😉 Also, never hurts to have a backup. It was agony while I was waiting for repairs. Of course (assuming I do get it), the price paid was much more reasonable than that ebay one (and more memory).

  36. Yeah, I saw that yesterday. On top of the high price, actually I didn't buy it from the campaign on indiegogo solely because I really don't like the blue color. At the moment I'm chasing around a good old pro1 in black color.

  38. Some colleagues also told me on Sunday and yesterday that they cannot hear me well on whatsapp over wifi (slider open or closed). They could hear me fine when I plugged my headphones. On the other hand today the phone is working normal again (slider closed and open). I did a phone shutdown in between... Maybe that helped?!

  39. That may be, but as a customer, I couldn't care less. Sorry for those harsh words, they are not directed at you. It has been a year now, and I hate my Pro1. The only reason I still use it is that "moving" to another phone is a time consuming and cumbersome process. I felt betrayed by Motorola, when they screwed up their mods and dropped the whole thing. I feel even more betrayed by F(x)tec, because I expected them to be closer to the community and care more about us customers. F(x)tec makes me feel naive and stupid for having trusted them. I am glad to hear that you are having a positive
