First of all I would like to say I've been on quite the quest for a handheld device like the Pro1. I'm a Linux sysadmin and Linux enthusiast. I have Linux on both my home and laptop computers. I have a customised desktop environment containing my workflow made up of scripts and programs I created over time to make me more productive. It is a factory restore tool, not reset. It can be used to write stock data to flash. If it works, then your phone should work again. If your flash is faulty, then it can not write this data.

Okey dokey. Here's an update on my shenanigans. After digging about I found this in Windows after plugging the phone in via USB. But can't do nothing with it except check the "Properties" .

Getting a standard Linux install running on SailfishOS is pretty easy, thanks to containers. Hardware acceleration isn't available for those containers, as far as I know, so it might not be the best solution to play games.

Apps are using different ways to detect if the phone has been modified. Some apps check root and others bootloader or SafetyNet status. See my post earlier for more information. If you root your phone with Magisk and use Magisk Hide module you can make many apps to work. I'd say LOS is probably your best bet, things are nicer without google services simply - no demanding your google account, no questions about how you liked the supermarket you just passed by, etc. Also it's probably more polished and stable than the stock rom at this point. Also keep in mind as long as you can use a computer, it isn't to hard to switch if you don't like the choice ordered and the only real difference ends up being the engraving :).

The main drawback of LOS over Android is that some apps may not work. Disney+ for instance or some app doing extra security checks, like banking app or Microsoft Authenticator maybe?

When you press the power button for maybe around 15 seconds, it should restart the phone. I mean restart by hardware, so even if the software stuck somewhere. What happened with your phone before you found the issue? So have you used it? What charge should it have by that time? I have not heard of similar issues but when my friend's phone produced a similar issue, I could switch off that phone by holding power button and it turned on, but it only appeared as a USB device after around 15 minutes. Hello there, I've been using my Pro1 now for approximately four months and the input issues (ghost input) seems to get worse and worse. For some time I've been documenting the ghost input and it definitely shows a pattern (list below). I've had a good read, but I don't think any of the first two methods would be of help, as I don't want to dismantle the phone at this stage, due to the warranty. The last method needs the phone to actually turn on and display the Fx logo. I'm not getting that even with both volume buttons held and the power button pressed.

I really thoughht mine had a physical fault too as it too used to insert numbers into words or move the cursor around the screen-- it was often unusable. I thought one key was influencing another electronically but now on LOS 17 I would say it is 99.9% fixed with respect to the keyboard. Android is completely new to me and even I managed to do a non-destructive update to my Pro1 and keep all my data! What are the major differences between OS choices? Which would you recommend for a non-tech savvy user? I don't think Ubuntu has any use for me, so I'm deciding between Lineage and Android. I don't really care too much about the privacy differences. I do care about which is better supported and less buggy. I also care A LOT about any differences in ease of use, especially regarding handling keyboard inputs. For example, does one OS allow you to tap shift and capitalize the next letter pressed rather than having to hold shift? Stuff like that, which will hopefully make it feel more like my

I'm on Lineage and sticky shift works more on an app by app basis. WhatsApp, Messenger, Firefox, Discord... they all work fine with sticky shift. But then I write a mail in GMail and suddenly I have to hold down shift again to get the next keypress to be upper case.

How long did it take for them to replace it? As much as I understand many people haven't even received their phone yet so I don't expect them to hurry for replacement phones. I'd feel much more comfortable just opening it myself and maybe change some parts. Also it's strange that it mostly happens when the phone is under load, shouldn't it be a software issue then?

Grasping for straws here, but does the caps-lock button affect the caps-lock LED?

I had the same behavior with the stock camera app, clearing data/cache for it in settings->apps fixed that (it seems permanently). My best guess is that an updated version of the app can't cope with the data from the original version that comes on the phone. Also my friends never complained of video quality, but they're used to me using a potato cam so I'm not sure that means anything xD.

I would try a usb-Volt-meter, and see if any current are drawn. If I recall right someone had a device where the connector between the small usb-pcb and the main pcb had gotten loose, with a little luck it is similar. But all is rather strange if it was as high as (roughly) 75%, as this should last very long with the device/display off.

The LED is switched on by software, so for charging indication, some part(s) of the software should boot up. My friend's phone which had flash (UFS) problem also did not have charging indicator, but it was charging anyway.

Pressing the power button does nothing. I've held the button in for over 5 minutes. The battery had around 75% charge at the time of it shutting down. When the charger is plugged in there's no LED. It should at least light up red to indicate the phone is charging, even while it's turned off. The last thing I did with the phone was to check the time of the bus over mobile data. I had made 2 calls and received 1 prior to that as well as checked emails. Now it's deader than a dead thing.

Sounds like an electrical issue with your keyboard. I had something similar. They replaced my phone.

Yeah, I've seen seen between 9 - 13 days standby times reported by Kaspersky Battery Monitor. Worth a try to leave it for a week or two.

actually, this happens to me a lot on my nokia 6.1 ,,, the trick is you have to let it completely die .. don't charge it for few days and then connect the charger... but the standby time on the fxtec is like a good 10 days lol.... but maybe try this method? don't charge it for a few days and then connect the charger... even from different sources and cables?

If you have access to the battery I'd check the voltage of it. But I don't expect him to dismantle his phone while being in warranty.

The strange thing is, I had just used it on mobile data to check for bus times, boarded the bus then opened the case and there was nothing there. Kept trying to restart it then swapped the sim out into my Jolla 1. I then used mobile data on the Jolla, to check delivery of an Ebay purchase, then the Jolla died, but that restarted again and is still working fine.

Tried the PC first, then plugged it into the wall. Been plugged in for about an hour now. 🤔

Yup. Using both Pro1 charger and original cable. PC doesn't even pick it up when I connect it. Fired off an email to support, see what happens.

Are you using the charger it came with? If the battery got very low, it may not respond well to other chargers. How long did you leave it plugged in. Id leave it a few hours and see what happens.

Otherwise just sell it to me, I have realized that the QWERTZ keyboard is better for Swedish. And, I also realized that one device isn't enough for doing all the software evaluation I want to do.

I ordered mine on January 28 2020; still waiting.
