As you will find out, it is really hard to operate the PRO1 while it is in a pocket of some pants.... so a pocket is an alternative to a sleeve, not a case. And on the coffee thing, just eat the beans and drink the water, much simpler 😜

You should consider some of the Huawei/Honor alternatives also, as the camera holes on the back matches better.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm primarily looking at feasibility. As they dismissed the hard case as a hopeless project, I want to see how good we can get it with standard components. I mean I'm not going to use say £2-300 on a custom designed leather case, that then proves to be so useless in real usage, that it ends in the bottom of a drawer. But if we can get something good DIY, then we know for sure a professional custom made could be good too. The first attempt works reasonable, but until I get some tape or the like not on the fingerprint.

One thing that people in here tend to forget is that many individual components, are not just something you send an email, and have the good two days later. So if they estimated too low, they can not just say, "oh well lets make the next batch ten times larger" (And not even mentioning the economics in that)

Would be nice. Until they do, feel free to ask, and I will try to measure. But as things are curved/smoothed it can be hard to reduce to a few relevant measurements.

Let us hope that it will be such a huge success, that it makes room for variants, and not one model only.... Different people, different usage patterns, different needs/wishes.

It should be remembered that they usually also claim that a newer generation is more energy efficient doing the same task. So it could have given a better stamina.

It would be nice in the notification drop down, with some 'mark as read', especially on various 'Reactions'. It seems a bit silly to have to open it to clear it. On the other hand it make a lot of sense for "Quoted" or "Mentioned" to see what it is.

Well you are assuming that no one think the Pro1 is already expensive, oh wait there are.... So your assumption does not hold, invalidating the logic... For some an additional price would be outweighed by a newer chipset, for others it would put the device out of their reach. If the total numbers sold would be higher by one variant or the other is really hard to say anything reasonably on, it will be just guessing either way.

...Once we found the phone case(s) that gives the best fit, we should be looking for flip cases for these phones that opens in the OTHER direction, that is at right edge, like e.g. a Japanese book, as these would be more likely to be usable (as mentioned earlier), and preferably with a flip of a soft material with a hard support inside, we can 'brake' to add new fold(s). I ordered a number of different cases for various other phones with similar size as the keyboard part. The first has arrived for the Note7, and though it snaps right on, without deteriorating the slide functionality substantially, there are a few issues. It is easy to cut holes for the camera, stereo jack and USB with a pair of scissors, but a little more complex for the fingerprint scanner. The problem here is that the Note 7 has a flat back, but the Pro1 has the last 1cm or so of the sides curving to give it the nice pebble like feel. So the case fits nicely when held in place

...odd as it may seem, if this shows to NOT be a success, I'm likely to buy a couple for spares. But if it is a huge success, I'm likely to settle for two, and then hope for a Pro2/3/4....

This much depends on how the Pro1 is received in a market. If it is seen at an odd thing for the few, you are right, but if they manage to wheel in a substantial number of touch users, it might be a revival of the form factor. We will all now in half a year or so...

I do not recall the exact comment, but at some point they said that an important factor in choosing the factory they did, was its ability to quickly change scale. So could be that there are a lot more people doing batch two than batch one. I mean they are highly unlikely to have had any machines particularly created for the Pro1, so if a company with a lot of programmable machines are in play, they can quickly scale up, after F(x)tec have seen with batch one that they can produce the product to the required specs and quality demands, they can do a large batch 2.

I hope they will have enough success to make a successor every 2-3 years. Those that would like the device to be active for 4-5 years, would simple skip the next - as easy as that.
