I ordered a number of different cases for various other phones with similar size as the keyboard part. The first has arrived for the Note7, and though it snaps right on, without deteriorating the slide functionality substantially, there are a few issues. It is easy to cut holes for the camera, stereo jack and USB with a pair of scissors, but a little more complex for the fingerprint scanner. The problem here is that the Note 7 has a flat back, but the Pro1 has the last 1cm or so of the sides curving to give it the nice pebble like feel. So the case fits nicely when held in place

You mean the N97mini or the huge N97 ? Compared

Good point, all of us with a batch one device, should order a batch 3 device and compare... 😜😇

...odd as it may seem, if this shows to NOT be a success, I'm likely to buy a couple for spares. But if it is a huge success, I'm likely to settle for two, and then hope for a Pro2/3/4....
-
This much depends on how the Pro1 is received in a market. If it is seen at an odd thing for the few, you are right, but if they manage to wheel in a substantial number of touch users, it might be a revival of the form factor. We will all now in half a year or so...

I do not recall the exact comment, but at some point they said that an important factor in choosing the factory they did, was its ability to quickly change scale. So could be that there are a lot more people doing batch two than batch one. I mean they are highly unlikely to have had any machines particularly created for the Pro1, so if a company with a lot of programmable machines are in play, they can quickly scale up, after F(x)tec have seen with batch one that they can produce the product to the required specs and quality demands, they can do a large batch 2.

I hope they will have enough success to make a successor every 2-3 years. Those that would like the device to be active for 4-5 years, would simple skip the next - as easy as that.
-
Good point. I find it highly likely that they will do that.

Some sort of plastic only, yes. But it did the trick, and did not even break.

They have talked about "Fulfilment Warehouses". Not "Fulfilment centres" AFAIK. ADD: Just did a search, both terms have been used, but primarily the first (by them)
-
Guessing here I think the confusion comes in as what previously has been labelled "Fulfilment warehouses", are here labelled "Warehouses", and the "Fulfilment centre (like FedEx)" is part of what was previously just called "shipping" as clearly a shipping partner.

Erhmm NO, e.g.: But the cut outs are very small (less than an eight of square centimetre each), and it's actually a bit awkward holding the device using the keyboard NOT covering those... Also note that some images are older than the cut outs. On the oldest the Smiley print is on Sym not Alt. (e.g. this vs this)

Yes, a good cut of a good foil, would be better than a sleeve for me. Of course no crash protection, but could have taken the majority of the deep scratches the corners got. I would gladly buy a stack of these foils....

That matches what I get within the accuracy of my 20 year old kitchen-weight, (including SIM, sceen-protector, and a few strategically placed stickers - and for the physics nerds: fully charged🤓 )

More often than not its WYSIWYW not WYSIWYG... ("Want" rather than "Get"). I think those kinds of editors are good if -and ONLY if- they also provide a way to easily see all the codes, so you can clear things up WHEN they are messed up...

I would much have preferred "later", and preferred that someone to be someone else. But on the other hand it is good to know that it does not only look and feel like it can take a beating, but can actually survive to tell the story. A direct hit on the corners will kill many devices, e.g. with the screen cracking. So I hope this is just not a 'lucky accident', but a sign that it can take a little more beating than most. In old times usually the back plate and battery flew off on impact, thus taking some of the impulse/energy of a drop. I wonder if the two part mechan

Airfreight indeed. (We have enough of this conspiracy gibberish, without people misreading the information we do get)

I used belt holsters decades ago. Yes daily driver since i got it, and I usually have it on my desk indoors, and in my trousers while moving around. But had it in a (bad) generic car mount, And quickly slipped it into the fleece, leaving the car as I got home, for the few metres walk, forgot to close the zipper properly, and dropped the car key closing the trunk...

Oh but it was the 'good one', not the "Pre Production" unit that lacks a few antennas.😥

I would have loved a case.... I dropped my precious "Final Sample" directly on stones!!! Luckily only cosmetic damages due to the strong build.

Yeah, can be hard to make groups mutually exclusive and yet covering everyone. And with a reasonably limited number of groups.... How do you count a Samsung S8- with a click on keyboard that I did not use all the time... Or what about people using BT keyboards rarely/frequently/always... I called it option 3 -
Well if they reserved number like that that, I could not have (had) two orders 3 numbers apart, and two others 2 apart... They were forcibly cancelled long after they were made
-
Well it does within the groups of IGG-backers and non-IGG backers. As paying mails was sent out in that order, those with the lowest numbers thus had a higher chance to pay early, and thus be in front of each of the queues.
