  1. The bottom part has dimensions really close to a Samsung note 7 (153.5 x 73.9 x 7.9 mm) so I think I will try to find a leather case for that, and see what I can modify... ADD Or "Note FE", same dimensions
  2. Tried with some thick paper (a ½mm thick booklet). And a case can actually grip over the entire ends, so this should be possible keeping the long edges free, so you can open the device by either pushing the front or lifting the back edge after your preferred operation mode. So I think a stiff bottom (e.g. leather) and 5mm black elastic bands on both sides of the keyboard would work.
  3. Actually it COULD grip over the two back corners, some 20x20mm, as long as it is not more than some ½mm thick, worst case it would make the device ever so slightly thicker closed. So that could be a way to do it...
  4. I split the part on magnetic cables into a new thread here
  5. Clearly better. Searching a bit on ebay I see others 8.9mm long, so they will protrude just enough to be 'grabbed' by the cable. But still none black. If someone find some that are black so please let me know...
  6. It stays in. And yes, there might be shorter plugs. This one has an 11mm plug, protrudes 4mm dettached, and there is 2mm between the edge of the cable-plug and the chassis when plugged, so (in theory) it could be 2mm less protruding with the same hold. I will see if I can find a more compact one / have not been able to find one where the protruding part is totally black. At best the plastic parts (like on this one) are black, not the most visible rim....
  7. The small adapter does protrude a bit. It is not much, but some might find it too hideous. There MIGHT be other brands protruding a bit less, and perhaps it can be found BLACK... Will see what ebay can offer... PS ...AVOID the round ones, as these will go below the bottom of the device...
  8. Nice idea. It is a magnesium allow (If I remember right) not iron though. So would require some iron plate/points to be adhesed to the Pro1, all adding to the thickness, but could be possible.
  9. Yeah it has become a mess, but not that easy to filter out, as much of it is related reactions to the delays (and now changed delivered product) I can not see a clear cut on how to divide it. We COULD ask Erik to make a new thread locked for comments with FxTec information only, and then keep this thread as a more discussion like thread with all the derived comments/reactions.
  10. I doubt it will work, There is very little 'edge' to grab in the keyboard half, and it is basically conical... But might work if the materiel (on the inside?) is the 'sticky' silicon used for placing phones on a car dashboard. The top half seems even more hard to do. But let us know if you find a way. I (and I assume many other in here) would be interested in buying that....
  11. I would swap the posh box, the announced sleeve and earphones for wrapping the phone in a T-shirt for shipping protection, and they could send it in a plastic bag...
  12. Ha ha. Well append at least a zero... But seriously I would not sell it without permission, though I have not signed anything, I feel like it have been entrusted to me to use and test. But once it is widely available, I could be willing to sell it if any collector has some special interest in having a rare early unit.
  13. ...Trust me, my heart skipped a few beats when I did... It was certainly not a willingly executed drop test
  14. Many in here are using phones much older than 3-4 years in anticipation of this return of a real keyboard slider.
  15. I have dropped as well the "Preproduction Unit" a few times as the "Final Sample" once, though not from high heights, and luckily not on very hard surfaces, the hardest a vinyl covered concrete floor from about 1m (pocket height) - no visible damages to either
  16. It is metal, not plastic, so hardly likely to crack easiiy
  17. I was curious to see how the case would grip, but optimistically assumed they found a solution for that... If you see the profile it is 'conical' in both directions, with only a really small space left for anything to grip. So I'm by no mean saying that it is straight forward.
  18. Feel much the same way. I do not care for a sleeve, that anyone can make in two minutes with a sewing machine and an old rag... Now we are left with the feeble option of producing and applying a protective film to handle scratches only. No real protection... They have talked of this protective case for very very long. So they have had amble opportunity to adjust the prototypes to secure a decent grip of the case without blocking the mechanism. ADD: At the very least they could offer us the alternative of a couple of pre-cut self adhesive films, we can apply our self. These vil
  19. The camera is NOT protruding on this one, so should not be an issue 🙂
  20. ....And the advertising effect for FxTec of that would be much higher too. I wore the T-shirt the day after the London event during a London sightseeing and got more than one question about it, similar on later occasions. So hopefully that wheeled in a few extra...
  21. Excellent idea! No need to waste money on something many of us would never use. Rather put that as drops into developing a Pro2 for 2021-2022
  22. I think his point was that he used a grouping seen elsewhere, more that the grouping it self. And yes indeed that grouping seems tailored for their purpose. 🙂
  23. The collection is not problematic, and can easily be accumulated. The issue is that the interval sizes are different, so even if the underlying distribution is even, you would see an uneven presentation .
  24. Ooops I was too quick there, but the point is the same, that it is uneven..
  25. Nice, but would be even better if the same cable had magnet coupling in BOTH the end and the side..... An extreme variant (that I just ordered) can be found here
