  1. The back is all metal, so won't do, see rest of the thread
  2. Indeed, that are certainly some of the forces of the Pro1 I should have included on the 'pro' side, along the obvious keyboard. :)
  3. Ah! Of course!! The mass-mail just sent to too many. Should not have been sent to EU customers. (Like the mail they sent to pay for orders that accidentally also went to some of us that had paid (or even cancelled), see this)
  4. It is back at €649, good for those that have not ordered yet - but now I for one am really confused about the mail sent out about an upcoming increased price??? [attachment file=34659]
  5. Or maybe they can find a way to decouple the launch thing so it can run under any launcher, Imagine if any key-combo not assigned could be coupled to whatever you want. Could be quite handy to launch say a calendar while in something else, check something and jump back, without even visiting the home screen...
  6. Everyone have a limit for what the increased productive of a real keyboard is worth in cool cash. And who are any of us to judge others limits?? If a person had considered it at another price, they are clearly in the target audience of the device. In my book target audience is defined be the personal usage patterns weighing of the pros of a real keyboard [EDIT: Plus repairability, open bootloader et cetera] versus the cons of the increased size and lacking features. To some a pen may be a huge benefit, to others not. e.g.
  7. Different launchers handles keyboard input differently. I tried a few. Most seem to ignore it, some do a search. The default launcher is clearly related to "Launcher<3", "Launcher3" and others, but these two has no keyboard shortcut support. Blackberrys Launcher (of course) support keyboard shortcuts, But I doubt it supports landscape more than partly.. I'm sure others will know of some launchers that support keyboard shortcuts and landscape....
  8. Well hard to know their reasons exactly, but COULD be a combination of several things. My guesses would be 1) An investment with a lower initial price to get the whole project off the ground, as most crowd-funded projects do too. 2) The pre-orders accumulate to a larger batch, that gives them a better unit price than when ordering small batches to fulfil later orders, as I doubt they have the capital to invest in a huge stock. 3) Caution for any Brexit-effects. And I bet there are more to the list...
  9. Yup, that seems to be it. A similar question and discussion for the BB Priv can be found here https://forums.androidcentral.com/blackberry-priv/615883-tasker-experts.html
  10. Oh yes indeed, the launcher is a separate app, it just comes pre-installed. Not cramped with fancy integration-stuff you can not get in other launchers. Had the Stock Android launcher handled Landscape decently, I doubt Pro1 would have had a custom one. I do not know what other launchers offers short-cut app launches by the keyboard though. Had it on previous hardware keyboard phones/phablets too, and never used it, except by accidental launches... Come to think of it, have not even tested it on the pre-production Pro1. So for my personal usage I could not care less if the feature is ther
  11. I do not know if there is an event in standard Android Pie on this, that gets triggered. But if not, I think we can take it for granted that Android Q will have an event for fold/unfold, and that could be an obvious candidate to trigger, if no dedicated event exists..
  12. Moved your post in here, see previous in this thread on the end of the initial discount.
  13. The only place I in 'normal' usage missed the sticky is to do Alt+Tab. Currently I just let go the double hand grip with the right hand somewhat for that. But I hope that YellowArrow+Tab is going to be a double for that somehow.
  14. According to this: hhttps://source.android.com/devices/input/key-character-map-files#keyboard-type-declaration it seems to be a matter of the KCM file signalling "FULL" or "ALPHA", so MIGHT be as easy as having it as two 'languages'... The "character picker" mentioned in the example for ALPHA sounds interesting too!!
  15. Well you got Ctrl-YellowArrow next to each other on both sides, it is just pressing a thumb on both with one hand, combined with whatever key with the other thumb in the other side. No need to let go the grip at all :)
  16. Shift is part of "All"... The suggestion with THREE options, was to allow a mode where stickyness was limited to the modifiers only available on one side. Sticky modifiers are used to compensate for the lacking ability to do it directly with multiple fingers. But as there are Shift, Ctrl and YellowArrow in both sides, it would be faster to write say P to use the Left Shift combined with the P by the right thumb. It is not as much a matter of it being complicated (I think), as a matter of it being a nuisance slowing down typing in the common scenario. Sure for the complex multi-modifier
  17. Just a hint to everyone: Please remember that Alt+Tab task-switching is supported by Android too. This is most often much more efficient than screen-splitting on a phablet.
  18. Yes I can confirm that the test-version already does that (for Danish) so just an omission in the descriptive layout. ;)
  19. Well even two handed it is a matter of the grip. The intuitive good grip operation is to hold in in both hands and type with the thumbs. And here it could be awkward to press say Alt+1. At the least it would require to let go the grip of the right hand. But one could even hold it with one hand completely passive and operate it completely by four or five fingers on the free hand - and if so sticky would not be needed, (except for some extreme combos like Shift+Alt+YellowArrow+P So much a matter of how you hold it if it is needed, I prefer the simple two thumb operation, but might chang
  20. (I took the liberty to change the thread title)
  21. I agree that sticky modifiers could be a nice OPTION. BUT remember that with Shift, Ctrl and YellowArrow on BOTH sides, we actually got easy access to FIVE layouts with a single thumb from either side: * (None), * Shift, * Ctrl, * YellowArrow * Ctrl+YellowArrow And I suggest to handle the last one as you would an AltGr in the mapping. I'm not saying that we should not have sticky keys, merely that we might not need them as bad as we thought. It is unclear if Sym is supposed to be used as yet another modifier key, or to launch some symbol library, or something else.... So m
  22. Currently they layouts are made so the two letters immediate to the right of P and L are correct. But the letter two positions right of L (that is Ä in Swedish) is the problem, as this position physically is Enter on the shifted qwerty. So the two most oblivious possibilities are to re-purpose the physical Del key of full height, and move the Del function to the "=" left of Backspace OR to move the Ä to the reduced height "=" even further from it's standard position. We have also been experimenting with a non-shifted US QWERTY layout for the DE QWERTZ physical layout. I would not be surpris
  23. Hmm, why would one exclude the other? It is not aPple, but seems like decent people, so they might well expect some of the users to keep the device for many years, even if one or more new models are offered.
  24. It is not the right forum (nor thread) for discussing that. There is another thread on what apps that benefits from the landscape and keyboard Pro1 here.
