  1. Sorry for a dumb question, but when I sideload an updated LineageOS, should I also always sideload Gapps? So will LineageOS update everything or only if the same file exists?
  2. I have installed and set up LineageOS 18.1 on my daily driver. So far I like it, it is light years faster than my earlier setup and I think it is faster than the original system was initially. Everything seems to work well with the help of Magisk, so far I like it. One thing what I miss is the ability of setting different ringtones for incoming calls on different SIM cards. I would like to distinguish if the call is coming on my company or private number and I have found some abandoned tickets about this problem but I haven't found a solution in system settings although I think i
  3. Usually this ghosting problem appears relatively often and there is an unsensitive part of the screen. After touching / moving a finger near the bottom part of the display, maybe at a corner, it becomes temporarily better - it is not a fix as it is temporary but an experience. Without attaching the display to the assembly, what happens if you gently move different parts of the ribbon cables (mostly near the bottom part)? Also, is there any difference when you use a wire to connect the screen's conductive part to the assembly's conductive part (shielding / gnd) which the display is
  4. Currently I am happy with my self-replaced screen bought at Aliexpress although it is not 100% perfect. However, it is strange that most people reported better behaviour of ghost effect (including me) after smoothing the bottom part of display. Below that part, there is a ribbon cable which comes from the display and I think its discontinuity (or increased resistance caused by the injured cable) is the source of the problem. The root cause may be an impact, but I think imperfect gluing of that part of the display may also cause it to break. Basically it is better if that part doe
  5. My "original" Pro1 has also came directly from China but originally they wanted to send higher amount of units to UK in bulk, then send them within the EU. (I don't know if people outside of EU had any benefits of it, maybe they wanted to have another quality control.) However, they ran into troubles and had to send smaller amounts then also they sent them directly from China, then Covid has started to cause further problems...
  6. Thank you your help. I met my friend again (had to bring his cat to the vet) and I have looked again at his Pro1. We had to install Magisk using sideload for the puzzle-pience icon to appear where MagiskHide Props Config was selectable, soit passes Safetynet now and I also could gain root access to Termux and superuser privilege for that application can be enabled and also disabled. There was an application which I had to put to the hide root state and everything works perfectly. Also I have tried the very same GCam mod which I currently use and it also worked which I was afra
  7. Hi, I think it is better to contact F(x)tec at their e-mail address about your question, it may happen they have a solution for that - they may not read comments here. However, earlier (for Pro1) they wanted to ship everything to UK in big quantities but finally they sent a lot of phones directly from China - I think it was a fallback option because of customs problem and they may want to optimize fees and they may have contract with customs/appropriate offices now. So I am unsure about their possibility but if they still have appropriate staff in China and they are willing to send
  8. Right, marketing is basically not my favourite part of the world...
  9. Thank you. Currently it seems it only supports "nano" and "pico" variant, so still MindTheGApps seems to be better. Anyway, are the missing services can be installed through Play store or not necessarily? So far it seems additional applications I may use are exists in the store.
  10. Also, what is the most recommended solution for Google Apps? We have installed MindTheGapps yesterday and Play store has exited the first time, then it worked, but Whatsapp needed some additional services. What seems to be the best?
  11. @claude0001 you are right, however, I don't know people at F(x)tec are how deep into this field, also who write marketing materials may not has deep knowledge about it. On the other side, one question is what F(x)tec has about the software (so not only the firm who works for them but themselves) and another question is what they can do legally. So even if they have appropriate sources for some of the hardware, it is not legal to share a 3rd-party closed-source part - and if it is really closed in a way they have no access to it that makes things even harder becoming vulnerable towards o
  12. Do you mean a range of nearly half an hour? We may were impatient but after a hard reboot (pressing power key) then a factory reset, it has booted only maybe in 1 minute I think. Right, we started after a factory reset of stock OS, but did not do a factory reset from boot loader after sideloading LineageOS and that is what I was thinking about lately. 🙂 However, we wanted to sideload Magisk before the first boot, however, after we did a factory reset to see if it works at all, we has started to explore LineageOS forgetting everything else instead of going back to a factory reset
  13. Thank you. I have a feeling what we did wrong is not selecting factory reset prior sideloading Magisk, so user data of stock system may be there which may caused the long (more than 5-10 or maybe 15 minutes) of rolling circle back and forth. (However, stock OS was also in factory reset state when we started "playing" with it.) As if I understand well, sideloading a newer nightly and magisk should not touch user data and we have only installing bootloader then sideloading Lineage + Magisk, not erasing old user data would has been the missing step.
  14. Thanks. For you, how long did it take for the first boot? I don't know what took so long for us yesterday. Anyway, on my phone, I would only use it for su rarely (I may also hoping for a working chroot-ed Linux environment) and for passing Safetynet in case an application does not work what I need. (However, I don't really know how it works, so I don't want to give root access to other applications.) Currently I don't have that phone around me, but I may try Termux + su later on that phone to see what happens. 🙂

    Spare Parts

Or may also this one seems to be good. 🙂 Edit: hmm, which thread it should has? Okay, maybe this one is different (I mean better than the above). 🙂
  16. Sorry, I did not remember well. 🙂 Anyway, he has installed only one banking application yet and that one worked.
  17. Right, but also the effort (and willing) of SoC manufacturer(s) would be needed for easier and better support of their hardware which unfortunately does not exists and that is a shame as they could assemble a working kernel for Android. Right, Pinephone is much farther in the way of having a native Linux support, but they also experience challenges although the hardware is older. They are improved a lot anyway, but Pro1 is a much more powerful device.
  18. Thanks. That may not cause problems for me I think (and hope), but I hope a fix may happen later which does not break compatibility of other devices. Anyway, when you have installed LineageOS and Magisk, how long did the first boot take?
  19. My friend who also has a Pro1 has stopped using it months ago because of the bugs exist in stock Android - he simply bought another phone as a daily driver and he is satisfied with it. So yesterday we installed the latest LineageOS to his device. Basically I see a lot of settings which I missed from stock - ringtone volume can be set as increasing, always on display works, notification LED works (it works on my device but stopped working for him), automatic brightness seems to work (it works on my device but he had problems with it) and basically the phone looks to be much more finished
  20. If it is a serious manufacturer, I think there is at least one USB port which should be usable. 🙂 Edit: I mean which does not have another device(s) attached.
  21. I think USB is basically stable especially on a Linux system... However, a root USB HUB may contain more USB devices, so more USB ports of a PC can be connected to the same root HUB while also internal devices may use the very same root HUB (like internal bluetooth, webcamera, fingerprint sensor, card reader, WLAN device, etc). So if you (or your PC) share the same BUS between several devices, then it also needs time to serve those devices. So it may also add more or less delay to your communication which the device will or will not tolerate. As this protocol seems to be picky
  22. I am not familiar with 3D printing but sometimes some adjustments are also made in the slicer which may also needed to do some compensation between different 3D printers...
  23. I have also forgot it when I have replaced my screen the first time although I was thinking on it the very beginning I tested my new phone... However, I really put a diffuse tape the next time when I had a screen replacement - so, I would say... maybe next time. 😛
  24. Err - it also seems to be better on my phone anyways. 🙂
  25. Right, Pro1 can be very handy to do real things like logging into a server and do what is necessary, which is very frustrating on any touch keyboards. However, the one and only real and well-working Linux phone I used so far which also had a keyboard was N900. Although Pro1-X will also come with Ubports, so some kind of a Linux ecosystem will exist, nowadays one have to have an Android phone because of other services, and as it is a very restricted system, it seems for me the very same well-working environment what N900 had is not working anymore if you don't want to bring another de
