The slow response time is an interesting question. Currently, I don't have this issue but I used to have it before I did a factory reset as it started to have soft-restart issues after every reboot, then after each charging connection. After factory reset, that problem has disappeared but since then, I have another problem. Instead of slow appearing of incoming call screen I had, incoming call screen does not come up, but if I press power button, lock screen appears together with a message of continue call, and after clicking on it, incoming call screen appears and I can pick it up (s

I have a Seek Thermal CompactPRO thermal camera which needs a Micro USB to Type-C converter and it works together with my Pro1 that way. So yes, it has USB OTG support. However, I don't know if the OS has generic UVC support.

I would be relatively happy with stock OS if - it would has relatively new security updates - soft-restarting issue would not come up About latter, I used to experience with soft reboots of Android on top of Linux kernel when I have restarted the phone, and later even when I have connected the phone to charger. I mean it was restarting, then restarting again and again till a point when it finally started. Linux kernel, so the phone did not restart, but android on top of it basically to prevent malfunction of Android, but it became the malfunction itself. So I had to reset th

Right, I think the same. I think personnel at support don't really distinguish the display and display frame, but display frame and the top part it is attached to. So I think the right question is not about the "upper part" but about "display frame".

Glass Screen Protector for Pro1/Pro1X
VaZso replied to lawliett's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
I have also ordered screen protectors from Aliexpress for Elephone U Pro which worked well for my Pro1. However, these screen protectors are disappearing... ...do you currently see them on Aliexpress? Anyway, they are relatively good - the only problem is they start to peel up at curves which they still good for a while, but getting more and more dirty at that place and there will be a point where dirt goes too much inside and you can easily peel it up occasionally... I have also cut earlier a strong material ordered from the USA which worked for a relatively short while but i -
How many keyboard enthusiasts here have a background in IT?

Don't you think of resistive touch screen? -
Glad you found the problem and if I understood well, you may still initiate a refund against seller. I have a 512 GB Samsung card in my phone anyway.

This is possible even without a blank layout. 🙂 I chose German as initial layout because it was the closest layout to original QWERTY one, but with US layout as main one and I have some keys remapped to accommodate my national layout as second (Alt-Gr) function. That is perfect for me, a blank keyboard would be much worse and also I have backlight which is a good feature.

Basically I think the display of N950 is unavailable. (I am also have a bad feeling of the long-term availability of Pro1 screen anyway, however, I don't know what the manufacturer tells about it). Basically the industry is moving forward and unless you are a big manufacturer, it may not worth to request a custom-made display, so that means you will depend on the manufacturer of the display or a display what another phone manufacturer uses elsewhere... similarly as the SoC. So you have to cook from what is available and there are no wide possibilities.

I don't really know what you are speaking about, but copying another phone would be useless and also prohibited... Additionally, Pro1 itself is good-looking, similar phone like N950 was but most probably it has already more units available. Also, it is not as simple to make an N950 styling but also they should have appropriate parts available (like display, exact size of PCB, antenna system, accommodate to different bands supported, etc). Practically, producing Pro1 is a much better idea 🙂, even if it has to be somewhat redesigned because the problem of available parts... ...but

Another keyboard (for a) phone: the PinePhone
VaZso replied to Rob. S.'s topic in General Discussion
Khm, I have ordered my Pinephone while I was waiting for my Pro1 to arrive. My Pro1 has been arrived by late December in 2019, and if I remember well, Pinephone has arrived in January 2020. Basically, Pro1 worked from the first boot very well. It had some problems like loud in-call volume (still exists) and green tint (still exists). Keyboard handling was improved anyway and had some stability improvement which triggered for me only a few times traveling on a motorway and some other improvements was made. Stock Android for Pro1 still has some problems (maybe optimization-related) a -
Depending on your operating system, you may try F3 or H2testw, they will show you if the card is fake and you may ask a refund and show the result of the test program as proof of being a fake card. I think it will show you most of the data was corrupted which is usual for a fake card.

Have you also copied back the photos and compared against their original versions? ...or at least have you checked if these photos can be displayed at different positions of the card? (So copied first, copied in the middle, copied around the last, etc...) We are not joking, this is a serious problem of a lot of sellers. These cards report fake capacities (like 2 TB), behaves like if it would be true, but when you write data to the card which should go above the address of the last real data, it will overwrite existing data causing them to be lost. I have found a lot of fake cards

Just like how it was at my first experience (but my display came up after several seconds, let's say 10-20). Now it is relatively good as it does not turn the screen on, but I can turn it on by power button, then click on continue call, then accept it... These are two "different systems", so after another factory restore.
-
I think such problem may happen using stock Android. I used to have black screen during the phone ringing while it turned on the screen after several ringings, so I could accept the call. One of my friends had similar problem on his replacement unit. I have also experienced reboot loop after restarting the phone for hours before it booted up properly. Later, I have experienced the same reboot loop upon connecting charger cable. After factory reset, the problem disappeared while I have no applications installed but started again after all the applications restored. After a

Are you sure it has real 2TB capacity? I suggest you to check it using H2testw under Windows or F3 under Linux / MAC. It sounds too good to be true. Basically the tools above write data to the card, then read it back and show if data was corrupted. If you connect the card using USB 3.0 interface, it should work relatively fast. If it is too slow for other reason, then it is most likely a fake card. If it has corrupted readback, then it is a fake card. If you use a fake card, then it initially looks good, but you will loose your data as it will overwrite itself when

Another keyboard (for a) phone: the PinePhone
VaZso replied to Rob. S.'s topic in General Discussion
I did not have too much time playing with it in the meantime. However, I have UBPorts installed on SDCard which initially seemed one of the best alternatives but stopped improving so I have also stopped updating it. I thought to wait for the "official" software and to prepare it close to a working solution... So I wanted to try another OS which may have the latest developments included. Using the version of UBPorts I currently have installed, initiating a call basically works. However, microphone is too loud and speaker is too quiet, but the latter is a design flaw modified -
Another keyboard (for a) phone: the PinePhone
VaZso replied to Rob. S.'s topic in General Discussion
I have a Pinephone from the very first batch. A Linux phone without keyboard is not a good idea anyway... I am also going to order this keyboard attachment, but I still think Pro1 keyboard and the whole solution is much better anyway. Currently I feel a Pinephone plus keyboard attachment will be a very good laptop replacement running Linux. However, I don't know how this keyboard works together with phone functionality - It does not seem to be comfortable to use as a phone. Also, Pro1 has much more comfortable layout. -
Anyway, I did not know when news told about car companies having shortage of electronic components that what kind of components they were speaking about. ...then last time when I have purchased components for one of my own designed boards, I have found that it looks something like a general problem (maybe mostly logistics or manufacturing issue). The PCB assembly company had missing components which I had to skip to solder it by hand later. ...but I had to order components from three different wholesalers as there were component sortage or components which had thousands of ordered

Could you please check if camera also works well? So if there are no focusing problems some members complained about. I don't really know if that was LineageOS related or hardware issue for them. Also, it would be good to know if it is also applies to GCAM mods (if you may use it anyway).

It is something like a double-sided tape kind of glue, I mean not something strong but a somewhat elastic type. If you don't feel enough experience replacing glued display panels, it is still a good idea to bring it to an experienced / trustworthy repair shop as @EskeRahnsuggested. I would not wait for a complete assembly if it will be available after August but my phone has a faulty display.

The screen has adhesive around the edges. The middle part of the display which originally adhesive was covered I think for easier disassembly. You should apply some heat near the edges of screen but avoid excessive heat. The best is if you have a temperature-controlled heat gun, but use it at the lowest temperature (100 Celsius degree for me) and a bit away to not stress the plastic parts (or even the display, but it is not important now 🙂 ). Then try to gently separate the display and frame using a slim guitar picker. Ensure to not stress the frame mechanically, so do not break
