  1. That is actually the only real innovation that apple brought to the smartphone market (everything else was more or less bought). What they showed the competition is, that variety may be good for customers, but it is much more lucrative to market just ONE device. Media talked about how innovative the device was, it wasn't, the marketing was. It destroyed years of innovation and prevented future innovation. Imagine having just one car for everybody. Driving Long distance? Well nobody needs that anyway. More than 2 seats? Oh that is a niche, we don't care. It is a sportscabrio for everybody. N
  2. Well I was talking about the latest update: https://player.vimeo.com/video/491140062 You can see, that it wedges pretty fast, and an alternation between force on the left and right side is needed to open it in multiple pushes. This could work way more stable, once the rest of the phone is done, but I don't see anything suggesting a mechanism to prevent that.
  3. Well the Video in the newest astro slide update does not show anything promising in to keep the two 'rails' in sync. There may be more to come though
  4. Well I ordered the phone waaaay before the first was out and I was even more uncertain if I get one. But the way I see it is this: I am complaining about the missing HWKB on phones since years. I still miss my N900. Even my wife remembers that phone, because I made a huge drama when it died! So now I got the chance to support my goal. Instead of just whining about it all the time, I decided to take the risk and pledge that 800$. It was way more than I ever paid for a phone and I wasn't sure that I get anything for it. But I didn't want to be like so many people, always asking for stuff an
  5. Well the high demand may have been true a few weeks ago. But consider the fact, that a lot of people have now ordered a pro1x from the IGG campaign. I understand your desire to sell it as high as possible. But you know, selling it for the highest possible price always takes a lot of time. I don't want to buy your phone and don't want to talk you into lowering your price. I am just saying I think if you can get the original price somehow, I would not wait to sell it. But as said, that is a personal opinion, and I might be wrong.
  6. Well we have already been there.... But the situation was a tad different. I sure hope they have learned! If a reseller want some, there may be a possibility for normal pro1s. But again if you want to do business with someone, it may be a good idea to contact them directly and not somewhere public. You know there is a thing on webpages called contact form: https://www.fxtec.com/contact-us But hey, that is only 20 years old or something....
  7. Well you are right. Sorry. Actually I think this discussion has been repeated multiple times. And don't get me wrong. I still think an unshifted layout would have been the better choice. If only because it is easier to sell it. I am just saying it is not as bad as I expected it, could even be better after getting used to it. To answer your question Eske. I would be okay with just deleting this discussion here. No need to document these things over and over.
  8. Well I can't say anything about that, since I use the US-Int Layout to type "äöü" and so on. But why to learn something new? Because it keeps your hand centered on the phone. In the none shifted layout you either have to type more with your left thumb, what slows you down, or hold it unsymmetrical. I needed some time to get used to the none shifted numbers especially. But as said I have to say now. There is the possibility that the pros are bigger than the cons. But it is hard to tell without A and B Testing.
  9. I just can say, that you get used to it. Yeah it is strange at the beginning, but you have to learn a new thumb layout anyway. While I would have opted for a non shifted layout in the beginning, I am not sure if it is better once you are used to it.
  10. Also we should not forget: Phone reviewers had to focus on small hardware changes! There wasn't anything besides that. In this function you will start to get picky about that stuff, and loose the sight for what is important. The SoC isn't really the limiting factor of phones nowadays. For most people it is the small screen or the touchscreen. This phone does improve on both of this factors. But this doesn't anything for you if your job literally is to test new phone stuff. If you are writing code or even E-Mails (Like most people do) this does help!
  11. Hello random people in a forum not even working for the company I would love to test a product that is already on the market for a year. I would also advertise it. I do not think any more information about my advertising range are needed. I also won't state how I plan to do that. Please send me something to sign. Best regards, Username specifically created for that forum, because else it could bear any information at all
  12. yeah that would work. Except of course for the fact that the Ctrl key is at the wrong place. and FN and the left YA should be switched. I know this is purely subjective, but I am right, trust me on this 😄
  13. I have quite the opposite experience with my phone. I got used to the most of the stuff that bugged me. I am quite happy with the phone. Yes if the keyboard isn't a big thing for you, you will not be able to overlook the shortcomings. But after nearly a year, I am quite used to have a keyboard again. I use it all the time as soon as I have to write more than 4 or 5 words. Yes you pay a lot for a phone which is thick heavy, has a shitty fingerprint reader and some bugs! But you get a keyboard phone which is really durable (trust me on that, I have lost it through a car window while it
  14. Indeed, this is not a bad solution. But we now actually have alt as a fn key. The problem is, there are buttons which do different things depending of the use of alt_gr or the fn key. This is of course purely a cosmetic problem. But what we would need (or at least I) is two alt Gr's and 1 fn key.
  15. Well it isn't common, since it wasn't possible for quite a while now. But there are people mapping Ctrl + C and Ctrl + c differently in vim.
  16. In my case definitely two Alt Gr. Because it is in the end an Alt Gr key. Yeah it looks strange because we are not used to it. But that is only a matter of time. And labelling a key FN that you use as Alt Gr makes no sense to me.
  17. That is not to point I am making. Of course it is his/her fault. Of course FXTec needs to be informed. But the initial post suggest that this was not successful until now. I am just stating, that this is a normal thing to happen and should be possible to handle!
  18. True that, but the missing keys could be made accessible with alt
  19. No, Both AltGr are needed, just because FinQWERTY switches them with FN, still means that there are two Alt-Gr keys. One FN is enough
  20. sure, but it is pretty common to get a mail when the delivery leaves, or to get the packet resent to another address.
  21. Well, this may be an option for you, but it is an absolute no go for every person using us-international. In my case ä is quite common, try pressing alt-gr + q without a right modifier...
  22. Well of course, but I wouldn't think of an order i put up months ago during the stress of moving....
  23. Well I am still not on LOS (I am planning to move in a month, when I have a vacation). But I will share my opinion anyway: First of all, thank you for your great work, I am not using it now, but I do appreciate it! The free device is a reward yes. But it is a really shitty pay compared to the hours you guys put in. So it would be totally okay to take donations*. So if your only doubt with taking donations is the fact that you received a free phone, forget it and take donations. But if you just have phone developing and don't need to money... well there is a downside to donations. Dona
