  1. I read some messages in this thread, but not all. Have the pro1X wifi problems been resolved by any of the beta firmware? Based on my very limited testing, it seems like it might have problems with interoperability with some wifi access point hardware/firmware. In my case, I noticed some oddities with a couple 2.4 GHz access points. Thankfully my main one seems to work reasonably well. All my 5.8 GHz access points have horribly weak (unusable) signals at distances that my pro1 worked on fine (and my pro1 is much worse than any other phone I have tested). Oddly enough, the rebooting
  2. That's amazing to me (and I'm sure very frustrating to those waiting for phones) that I've been gone so long, yet all the phones still haven't shipped.
  3. So not all the Pro1X phones have been shipped yet?
  4. I've been away for years. Does this mean we won't get the extra batteries/screens ordered and paid for?
  5. @jakfish - what do you have your Preferred network type set to?
  6. It may be as simple as the tower I was connected to at the restaurant may support LTE for data, but not VoLTE for voice. In other words, it may not be a Pro1X issue at all. In that case, it had to have fallen back to one of the others, but it didn't have any symbols to tell me which one. Once I get the phone all decked out with my various apps, I should be able to use some of the cell diagnostics apps to see what it is using when on a call. I thought about doing what you did, since the phones don't support 5G, but I left it at the full list.
  7. A few more tests to share... On a drive to a restaurant, I called my voicemail. It connected fine, but it could only understand 1 or 2 digits of my 4 digit code. I tried repeatedly. I finally hung up. Once at the restaurant, I tried several calls to my voicemail. It did connect every time and it did understand all digits of my code. However, it took several seconds to connect each time. I noticed that it would be on LTE before I'd call, but when I would call, it would try LTE for a while and then give up and try some other protocol and work. Oh, and I tried speed tests bo
  8. For anyone else reading this, I did need to have USB debugging enabled for my device to show when issuing the following command at the command-line in Windows: C:\Users\david>adb devices List of devices attached <serial number removed> device I was then able to issue this command as well: C:\Users\david>adb reboot bootloader After it booted into FastBoot mode, I was then able to issue: C:\Users\david>fastboot oem off-mode-charge 1 OKAY [ 0.008s] Finished. Total time: 0.020s Thanks @E
  9. I unboxed my Pro1X, put in my T-Mobile SIM from my Pro1, and did the initial set-up. I disabled wifi and placed a call to my voicemail (it worked until the cell signal got too weak, which is normal at my house). I then sent a text message and it was received. Obviously, this is a very small test, but it does show that my Pro1X does work on at least one tower/band here. I'm in Minnesota, NE of the Twin Cities. My phone was at about 50% battery when I took it out of the box. I have it plugged in. I'll have to look around for how to enable charging when powered off, how to root it,
  10. I just unboxed my Pro1X. The first thing I did, even before turning it on, was to type on the keyboard. I immediately noticed that they changed the keyboard layout from the Pro1!!! Why in the world did they do this? I have a QWERTY English model for both phone versions. Why would they change the layout that existing customers already got used to touch typing on? Anyone know? Oh, and this isn't just rare keys being moved around. The alphabetic keys have been shifted to the left, and symbols that were to the left of the alphabetic keys on the Pro1 have been moved to the right si
  11. My regular Pro1 has always had issues when driving when on a call. It doesn't like to switch between towers/cells. I've never tried to figure out if that was due to band switching or just the cell switch. It often drops calls when driving. But it does allow calling back after the drop. I guess I'll open my pro1X and see what it can do. I read something about some not working if the battery drained when in the box. Is this due to that default setting, like on the pro1, where it won't charge when off (craziest setting I've ever heard of)?
  12. Do we think it is a case of which frequency bands are used on the towers near you vs near him? And a matter of the phone not supporting certain bands? I've had that issue with my original Pro1 phone. I don't remember the exact details, but I think it was that text messages would not be sent reliably if I was connected to a certain band. It wasn't that the phone didn't support the band. It was that the phone supported the band, but it just didn't work. I don't remember if phone calls could be placed when connected to that band. I also don't remember if an error was received when the
  13. Hello @EskeRahn! Hope all is well over on your side of the world. That's unfortunate, but I appreciate the information. I guess that may leave me with no way to have a workable phone. If the new Pro1X doesn't work with T-Mobile and if the USB port/PCB combo on the Pro1X can't be moved from the new phone to the old phone, then I'm stuck. The only things I can think of are to: A) Resolder/replace the USB port on the PCB (I did that with limited success on my original USB port PCB board). B) Try to wire up a new PCB (find something online) and port and hope it somehow works
  14. Darn. I tried emailing them and they said they don't have any parts available now. I have a pro1x in the box, that has never been opened, but I just read on another thread that they don't work with T-Mobile. So I'm stuck if I can't get the USB port working on my current device. I don't suppose anyone knows if the USB port is the same between the two devices?
  15. I have a Pro1X, but haven't taken it out of the box yet. I've been using the regular Pro1 for a few years. Does the above mean that the Pro1X doesn't work on T-Mobile?
  16. My Pro1 USB port failed after a year or two of use. I received a replacement from fxtec. The replacement worked great for quite a while. The replacement has been failing for quite a while now too, and is almost to the point that I can't charge the phone. What is the proper way to communicate with fxtec in order to get replacement parts? I've been off the forums for a very long time, so I'm out of the loop on everything regarding the phones. Thanks, david
  17. I haven't been on here for a loooong time. That's amazing that they would use different batteries for the two phones. Are we still reliant on getting them from fxtec, or has someone found another source for the batteries (for either phone)? Regarding other parts... My usb port isn't working properly (again). They sent me a new port when my first one failed. Does anyone know of a source, other than fxtec, to get that part?

The only thing I'll add to the discussion of the USB port is that it is possible that heat from high speed charging could cause a problem with how the usb port makes connections to the separate PCB it is on. It could cause enough heat to soften the solder. The port sits on top of 24 *tiny* connections. They aren't the type that connect out the back of the port. I'm not saying this is definitely true, but just a possibility. It does get very hot when charging at full speed. Oh, and if the usb port does break, and you can't get one from fxtec, in theory, a new port can be soldered onto

It had been 5 weeks since I had last heard from support. They said they were waiting for a shipment, but expected to send my replacement USB port that week. I thought it had been a long time in transit, so I emailed them to ask them for the tracking number. They told me they never sent the USB port, as promised, and were short on parts. Paraphrasing, they said they would send it when they get more parts. Obviously, not very happy about them not sending it, nor the fact they didn't tell me they weren't sending it.
  20. No screws loose that I could find here. I also can't really see how pressing things together is allowing the speaker to work. I didn't spend a long time looking at the design, though. I mean, there are contacts that probably power the speaker, but I'm not sure what would cause them to not make contact. Maybe the way the plastic pieces fit together can shift and stick in a shifted position and when we are pressing them together, the contacts can again make contact.
  21. I'm sure most people have not had this issue. But there are a number of us who have had the issue. So it isn't a rare thing either. If/When I replace the screen, I will be looking at how things are connected for the earpiece.

On a related note, I asked support for technical specs on the screws that hold the Pro1 together, so I can try to source those somewhere. Does anyone know what size they are and have a source for getting them?

Support emailed me today. They will be sending me a replacement USB port.
  24. Same here. VERY annoying, especially when you find out it isn't working when someone calls you and you answer. At least when you place a call, if you can't hear it ringing, then you know it is messed up. For me, it works best for me to open the screen and then pinch along the earpiece side of the screen in several places. My comment isn't directed only at Fxtec, but phone makers need to remember that they are selling a "phone." It should work well as a phone first and as a computer second. In the case of the Pro1, the following issues really detract from using it as a phone:
  25. Mine does have a burned in area of the screen at the bottom (when in landscape). That's because I use WhatsApp a lot and it has a solid bar of green at the bottom where you type your messages. It has been like that for months. So even though the poster seems to be talking about something that changes on the location of the screen when the phone is rotated, the Pro1 (at least mine) does have a risk for burn in.
