Both, for nearly two years LineageOS, it's super Perish the thought

I vaguely recall reading some discussion about that when I was having a similar problem some time ago. Toggling speakerphone on and off seemed to resolve it, then I think the issue just went away, maybe with an update or the switch to LineageOS. A couple of links:

Oh, I can see how that could be a major pain in the bum if you bootup somewhere without a trustable useable wifi signal. I always carry mine in the belt case with the glass side towards me. I figure I'm generally better padded than most of the things I could bump into, especially around the waist.

The old Psion case has begun to look a little tatty, so I thought I'd treat myself to a new belt case for my little Prawn, so I went on the hunt. @claude0001 Thanks for that, I vaguely recalled discussion about needing to boot the OS (or at least the kernel) in the background to begin charging, but I couldn't find the thread, so in the end I thought my recollection was wrong, or I'd dreamt it. So with offline charging enabled (if you can, I can't get it to work on my PrawnX), maybe there's just enough juice left in your battery to boot just the kernel but not the full OS? But the hardware can't dumb charge the battery on its own without the kernel, so regardless anything else, if the battery is depleted to totally flat then

In my experience, generally red is +ve and black is -ve. I'd check the polarity with a voltmeter before connecting them.

@hlingSorry to hear about your problem, I hope you get a quick local fix @EskeRahnDoesn't the 'fastboot oem off-mode-charge enable' or 'fastboot oem off-mode-charge 1' discussed in this thread: alleviate the flat battery problem, (at least on stock android at the moment), or can you still end up in a chicken and egg situation where you can't charge to turn the phone on, and you can't turn the phone on to charge. @hlingUnfortunately of course you can't turn the phone on to change this setting if your PrawnX turned up flat. Or you could try giving it a kick up the bum wit

@guss don't think LineageOS affects your persist partition, and you only need to back it up if you are going away from an Android based OS, such as Sailfish or Ubuntu Touch, and intend to return to Android one day. There is some guidance and associated links for backup in the 'Various ROMs available' thread, but I've never used them, so I can't comment on how easy or effective the methods are. Just out of curiosity, why are you leaving LineageOS?
