  1. @david How's Mr Peaseley doing? He's done a grand job, but it must have been quite an ordeal for the little fella. I hope he is all sewn up and on the mend. Get well soon Mr Peaseley. Xxxx
  2. Oh, I can see how that could be a major pain in the bum if you bootup somewhere without a trustable useable wifi signal. Fascinating, I always presumed mobile phones had either a little lithium battery or a big capacitor holding up the clock while powered down or rebooting or such. @claude0001Some interesting reading in those links on your post, and this behaviour apparently going back some time. @EskeRahnGPS sync is an interesting idea, hadn't thought of that. @LaskaOr could you hotspot off another sim card e
  3. would a workaround be to enable settings -> system -> date & time "set time automatically" ?
  4. Companies House may add a bit of clarity: https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/11602958 or confusion

    Flaky GPS, Pro1

Found these 'internal photos' for the Pro1, on some FCC, (I think), website: Device page: https://fcc.report/FCC-ID/2AUCLQX1000 Photos page https://fcc.report/FCC-ID/2AUCLQX1000/4458316 Unfortunately nothing is labelled on these photos, so probably doesn't tell you anything you don't already know. Edit: These have got a few labels: https://fccid.io/2AUCLQX1000/Internal-Photos/internal-Photos-4458316
  6. I always carry mine in the belt case with the glass side towards me. I figure I'm generally better padded than most of the things I could bump into, especially around the waist.
  7. The old Psion case has begun to look a little tatty, so I thought I'd treat myself to a new belt case for my little Prawn, so I went on the hunt. I came across this one on Ebay: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/225439458956 It doesn't have the Pro1 or Pro1X listed as a supported model, but the seller has lots of good feedback, it's the style I want, it's real leather, and I like the look of the thing, so fairly promising. I took a punt and ordered one, selecting a phone model from the drop down list that I thought was there or there abouts on dimensions, (Xiaomi Poco M3). A bit longe
  8. And if it turned up in time for Xmas you could call it your 'Pro-Ho-Ho-1X'
  9. You could try an email: [email protected] or: https://www.fxtec.com/smartphones/contact-us Or try getting hold of @Casey: https://community.fxtec.com/profile/8723-casey/
  10. @claude0001 Thanks for that, I vaguely recalled discussion about needing to boot the OS (or at least the kernel) in the background to begin charging, but I couldn't find the thread, so in the end I thought my recollection was wrong, or I'd dreamt it. So with offline charging enabled (if you can, I can't get it to work on my PrawnX), maybe there's just enough juice left in your battery to boot just the kernel but not the full OS? But the hardware can't dumb charge the battery on its own without the kernel, so regardless anything else, if the battery is depleted to totally flat then
  11. In my experience, generally red is +ve and black is -ve. I'd check the polarity with a voltmeter before connecting them.
  12. @hlingSorry to hear about your problem, I hope you get a quick local fix @EskeRahnDoesn't the 'fastboot oem off-mode-charge enable' or 'fastboot oem off-mode-charge 1' discussed in this thread: alleviate the flat battery problem, (at least on stock android at the moment), or can you still end up in a chicken and egg situation where you can't charge to turn the phone on, and you can't turn the phone on to charge. @hlingUnfortunately of course you can't turn the phone on to change this setting if your PrawnX turned up flat. Or you could try giving it a kick up the bum wit
  13. I reckon there's 720 on that pallet, any other guesses. p.s. Not implying that's the only pallet, just curious how many Prawns you can fit on a pallet :)
  14. @guss don't think LineageOS affects your persist partition, and you only need to back it up if you are going away from an Android based OS, such as Sailfish or Ubuntu Touch, and intend to return to Android one day. There is some guidance and associated links for backup in the 'Various ROMs available' thread, but I've never used them, so I can't comment on how easy or effective the methods are. Just out of curiosity, why are you leaving LineageOS?
  15. Communication could be better for sure, this seems to be a common theme in crowdfunding, but I thought the final hurdle to the PrawnX was the logistics company holding our phones to ransom in their warehouse while they try to extort some more money from Fx for shipping, and I'm not surprised Fx are trying to maintain a positive spin on the company while they try to attract more investors to diversify their portfolio and create some new revenue streams.
  16. There's a good thread or two on here about ACCA, offline charging and battery health, I'll find it and post a link. Here it is:
  17. I've used ACCA in the past, both as a high temp protection and a low level shutdown, and you're right about it needing root, and it may be wise to enable offline charging if you go down this route. I'm currently running unrooted LineageOS (such a nice OS, thank you Devs) and use Easer https://f-droid.org/en/packages/ryey.easer/ as my safeguard, to generate progressively louder alarms as the battery level decreases.
  18. I seem to keep doing this recently, missing the boat after the question has been answered. Maybe I need to stop multitasking when I should be working.
