  1. Small update and answer to @electristan's question: The problem, with Jolla store has vanished over night (without reboot). All apps show up now. Battery life is definitely worse than with android at the moment, but I think, if you don't use it to extensively, it will bring you through the day. Still can't get mobile data to work. No matter if I enter access data manually or if I leave it to the automatic (anyway the same data). The funny behavior of the brightness slider is just there, when the device boots up without the sensors. Which happens not that often as I fea

  2. In case there are others like me, wondering. I contacted support and they've apologised for further delays and say that I'll receive the tracking number for my second-batch phone "anytime before the 20th of December". 🙄

  5. Interesting discussion of Pro1 on EBay and the Seller turning up here. Good entertainment while we still continue to wait for updates for next batch! 🙂

  6. I've already bought this, for reasons which do not pertain to its camera, but I do wonder if the Pro1 will have the ability to shoot ultra-slow-motion video, say 960fps or so, or if I will end up buying a separate device to do that. Does anyone who already has theirs care to enlighten me?

  7. I am having a hard time understanding how one goes from to the one month delay implied by Was there an incident at the factory? Could F(x)tec at the very least inform their customers when delays occur instead of leaving them in the dark until they start asking support individually?

  8. Your device's IMEI is essentially its global identifier, much like the VIN on an automobile. While SIM-based phones have more trouble with this scam than previous devices, it's still possible to steal service this way if you're clever.

  9. Thank you so much. Just removed the photos that contained that.

  11. I'd totally sell the Key2 and keep that Pro1! Btw maybe a good idea to censor the IMEI on the listing ;).

  12. The fact that you got one in the US gives me hope that the customs delays are over. Yay!

  13. If you don't need it now, you can probably make a buck off someone who is less willing to wait for it than you are, and then get another one in due time. At any rate, you should definitely have one in your life once they hit general availability.

  14. Now you're making me think I should keep it! It is beautiful and unique, and I'm a little sad to part with it.

  15. Hi guys--no, this isn't a PR move. I'm the seller. I was lucky enough to be one of the first retail box customers. However I had to replace my old phone, which died, shortly before receiving the Pro1, so I don't need the phone and thought I'd make it available to someone who is still waiting and will actually use it (rather than keeping it as an expensive toy). I'm just a regular - non-techy - person who really loves keyboard phones and had been excited about this.

  16. But they shouldn't be flat out scammers, but they are xD. Too many people buy into this nonsense where it looks like you get a good deal by buying stuff on a loan... If you get a small head-start one time in your life you don't ever need those things and get stuff cheaper.

  18. I feel like a sucker that I have "lent" them my money to be honest... if I knew that they are gonna treat us like some cockroaches who even dare to ask for delivery on (some unprecised) time I would have never sign up for this.

  19. This has been the whole problem with their terrible communication. Delays are understandable but just tell us! The full paragraph I got from support read: "We are currently still shipping our earlier Pro1 pre-orders. We know this was delayed longer than it should have been, and we are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Realistically, your tracking details will be sent to you anytime before the 20th of December, as we plan to have 1-day shipping before Christmas, so we will have all pre-orders complete in time for the Christmas holidays." My own view? Every dat

  20. It was definitely a pre-order, since it has the pouch in the pictures. They mean that this is not one of the pre-release units, such as the one that EskeRahn has (I don't recall if he also got a post-release one).

  21. I may take my chances with the FCC patrols and remove the sticker also. 😏 😂

  23. How is it going with using Sailfish as a daily driver (if you are)? Any update on getting the Jolla store working, or Mobile Data? Those seems fairly keys first step.

  24. It is hard to place a sticker anywhere on this device, where it is easily readable (I think that is a US FCC requirement), and yet not easily readable by others. Actually the support plate is the most easy place for others to read from when you use the device in public - unless you put your fingers there of course. Users outside the US you just remove (and keep) the sticker - I have done that. You can see the IMEIs from the device itself. The serial number you see from the device is an 8 hexdigits number, that does not easily translate.

  27. There is a thin line between scamming an conning.... Here we are talking conning people as you trick them to believe it is a good deal. BUT for some with a very strained economy, that perhaps would have had issues lending the money in say a bank, this way MIGHT be a reasonable soluton.

  28. Congrats! You also appear to be the first US recipient. I'm curious, when did it arrive, and did you get a tracking number emailed to you first, or surprise delivery?

  29. People can report phones as stolen via the IMEI and get it blocked on a particular carrier if they so wish, which isn't great. Don't think it'd happen if you don't have enemies.

  31. I also hadn't noticed the serial number means it's their phone #2! Only learned that from reading this forum. So I guess it's quite an extra special phone. Kind of like one of those artworks that are produced in a limited number, and the lowest numbers are the most prized.

  34. The more we do something, the better we get at it. As someone who lives in the US, I assure you getting stuff across the border can be a trick. I used to work a stone's throw from Canada, and still am not that far, and lots of people who crossed the border regularly said that customs and border patrol routinely gave them a hard time trying to get into the US. A few were Canadian nationals, but most were US citizens, and their own CBP gave them grief getting home. It's not something I find wonderful, but it is a reality. Once they get accustomed to all the logistical requirements, it will go sm

  35. Yeah, that would just be stupid. Also, as I've said before, HAVE YOU LOOKED AT THE UNSUBSIDIZED PRICE OF AN IPHONE LATELY? Really, the Pro1 is a bargain compared to iFruits, being only a little over half the price, and 10 times as useful in my book. :)
    2 points
  36. Best way to make customers happy is to reduce the price for others before their pre-orders are even all shipped out. I don't see how this would even be remotely likely to happen, as much as I'd like this phone to be cheaper.

  37. I think it would have been a first in history if a new phone was released error-free..... Even the big guys Samsung and the fruit company can't do that, and you expected F(x)tec as a small start-up could? Then your confidence in them were even higher than mine.....

  38. Here are more pictures. - the sleeve is a little bit wider and taller as the phone. It's not easy to put the the phone in it and out. Therefore, it definitely doesn't fall out by itself! - the protector fits really good to the screen -> full screen incl. edges (please ignore the bubbles 😂)

  43. Why? Because they clearly bit off more than they could chew. Looking at their communication record and how cloudy & vague it's been, they've scrambled like ants to provide a statement that people may actually want to hear. I'm not knocking them fully; It's hard to start a company. But it's clear that I should've waited until they're more seasoned with shipping. You seen it above; They botched the US customs paperwork... NOT something you should be okay with. That part feels rushed and I, again, feel like they are ants to finally just bust out a shipment. 44. Personally I would never bid on nor buy from an ebay seller with a reputation of just 6 (!) - and even those are as buyer only, and many months old. Your are not even covered by their buyers protection. And the very low serial number 000002 must be a staff item, that seems very odd to go on sale so quickly, so it all has a suspicious smell to it....
