  3. The keyboard software that comes with the Pro1 is unfortunately very limited at the moment. They have poured all their efforts into getitng the hardware delivered and expectedly soon in generally available. Quick keyboard-layout switch is build into Android. And is done by Ctrl-Space cycling through the keyboard layouts you have selected. The software FinQWERTY is an open source program that tackles the most imports caveats of the stock keyboard-software. And I'm sure more layouts will follow as F(x)tec and/or the users create them. The print on the keys will obviously not

  8. Keyboard layout can be easily modified under Android and FinQwerty does help a lot by adding 3rd-party layouts to Android without the need of rooting. So if I understand well, if these layouts will be done by somebody and included in stock firmware or even they appear in FinQwery for example, then it is a solution for that. As the source code of FinQwerty is available on GitHub, the most simple way of adding my own layout was to build a version for myself which has my layout included. I have also put a layout file in the specific thread here which is a standard layout so it worth t

  9. Well the calculus is slightly wrong, If the new is six times bigger than the previous, and the total will reach 70%, then the previous was 70% * 1/(1+6) = 10%, and the new 60%. Hence the total is ten times bigger than what has already been sent. I do not know if all previous sent from factory has been delivered to the end users though, or some is still on their way. So what number we should multiply with 10 is not that clear.

  10. My PC reads ext4 very well anyway (as it runs Linux). If it was the only reason, they may put an option to set it in developer options. Also, if someone is able to format the card to a specific filesystem and put it in the phone, the system _should_ not threat it as a corrupt card and _should_ not force the user to format it... that would be a minimum from a correct operating system. Anyway, the reason is the same (shame) that Android basically does not allow root access (which would be essential for your _own_ hardware) and Windows 10 forces its updates even if user working in som

  13. Hi everyone, Mostly good news today, as always gathered personally. The logistics team is currently drafting the shipping lists for the big batch that will ship in a few days. This batch is 6x bigger than the previous batches combined. Most of you will be left very happy, and those in the list will receive a stock assignment notice either this weekend or early next week. There is nothing left to prioritise on the Indiegogo side, as that will be fully covered by this coming batch. Those with Indiegogo deals can start getting excited as they are the first known customers that will

  16. Yes - I have recorded a relatively long video with my Moto G6 last year. It can not record in 4k but somewhere around 2k - using OpenCamera. I was surprised to see it clipped the video at 4 GB despite the exFAT which supports larger files, but now I know its reason (I didn't know also video API has such a limitation in Android). Fortunately, it could fit in two files but I was not really happy when I saw that. I don't remember what program I used to join them but I think ffmpeg solved the problem and video looked good. ...but the same video would maybe have 4 or 5 pieces which sho

  17. Yes, what will we all do when March comes and all the pre-orders are filled? Will we keep this around for discussing regular orders? :-)

  18. Indeed; it's just a matter of installing it (and buying it; it is $19.95): https://www.paragon-software.com/home/linuxfs-windows/#overview โ€“ supports ext2/3/4 with read/write access and btrfs and xfs with read access.

  20. As BlackBerry's future engagement on the device market is highly doubtful, my current device will probably have reached end of life by the end of this year. While I am still almost perfectly happy with it I am already looking out for a possible successor. And while an all-touch device might even be a possible choice, the Pro1 has attracted my attention. Having also backed (and then immediately sold) the Unihertz Titan I have started understanding that a physical keyboard alone is by far not enough to be productive and happy with one's device. The software is as important. And since there

  21. I think the assumption is slightly wrong. @Erik said "70% of all preorders," which in my reading, all preorders includes those already fulfilled, so I'd say this will probably put fulfillment at 90-95% of all preorders. Unfortunately, it means that I won't likely get mine for another month or so, as I didn't pay until nearly the end of November. Oh well. Droid 4 still working. Posting with it, as usual. :) I'm glad Verizonk chickened out on pulling the plug at the end of the year though, because then I'd have had to switch to the potty.....er, PRIV. ;)

  26. Thank you for your reply. That won't be necessary. For cyrillic layouts there are two standards: the national layouts that don't have much to do with 'qwerty' (that's what is usually used for on-screen keyboards), and the so-called 'phonetic' layouts where the cyrillic characters are matched to a 'qwerty' layout as good as is possible. That's the most natural choice when you have a hardware keyboard with latin character set. For Russian and Ukrainian this is usually called 'yasherty' (ััˆะตั€ั‚ั‹ / ััˆะตั€ั‚ะธ), and you'll have 'a' on 'a', 'ั' on 's', 'ะด' on 'd' and so forth. When I got m

  27. Adding some anecdotal data here. As I mentioned, I've been running apps off my SD card on my Relay 4G for years. It turns out I've been doing that on this particular SD card for just over 4 years. I found my Amazon order from December of 2015. I was doing it on a smaller card before that. My card is a 64 GB SanDisk Extreme 64GB microSDXC UHS-I. I have a 16 GB partition for applications, formatted as ext3. The rest is FAT32. I use the Link2SD app to create the links from the internal storage to the ext3 partition's files and folders, so the system thinks it is accessing the inte

  32. I got the Sugru I ordered today, and started experimenting with a car key, where the rubber has vanished over the last twenty years. For some years I have used it wrapped in fibre-tape, and tied up with a strip - I will spare you the image of that.... Removing that and here is the key next to one that is still pristine: (To please @abielins and to get the Sugru to stick better I tried to clean it with some spirits, but some paper fibres stuck, please forgive...) I then took a small package of the Sugru And tried to shape a new key-head. It is much like clay to work with. I

  34. Running a ftp server on phone is easy cuz all PCs support it, you can add it as a favorite/bookmark to file manager in windows or linux or anything else, without installing anything on the PC end. I use this one, super easy to configure, even has an option to auto-connect when you're on home wifi, so basically whenever you're at home your phone is available in your PC file manager. https://f-droid.org/en/packages/be.ppareit.swiftp_free/ (fyi, fdroid version is same as full version from playstore, even tho it says free.)

  36. Yes, the key there is that you are using LineageOS. I don't know of a way to do it with stock android. Someone would need to compile a custom kernel for us, I believe.
