  1. Give it a few years gents. It seems the keyboardless dark ages we lived in has caused us to forget what makes a good keyboard. We'll have to crunch through a few before we get that perfection again. Pro 1 is close, but not quite there yet.

  2. I guess most of my friends are tech nerds and/or listen to what nerds like me tell them, so they most likely use the displays at a much lower brightness in average than the general average.

  3. Has any one else has problems connecting to bluetooth devices with the Pro1? I have three devices I want to use. My Gear S3 smartwatch, a pair of Anker Smartcore earbuds, and my car's handsfree audio. The watch has worked pretty much without issue from day one, but connection to the earbuds is sporadic at best, and I have made exactly zero successful connections to my car. This is the only major outstanding issue I've had and I've been holding out in hopes of an update sorting it out, but f(x)tec has been quiet to the point of non-existent about what we can expect going forward.

  4. Any news on this topic? I found out today, that the caller volume in Signal is only too loud (and not adjustable) when I call someone. When I receive a Signal call, the caller volume is fine. I don't know yet if the phone app is similar ... Wow, this issue is so annoying, it makes me (almost) hate my Pro1 at times ... 😞

  5. You mean the update that is supposed to merge the two? AFAIK, certification is still pending. If you need saftetynet badly, you can wipe the Pro1 with a full image as described in this post by @Waxberry, and then do OTA.

  6. What is the current situation with the update that is supposed to fix SafetyNet? Is the certification process still going on?

  8. I respectfully disagree. Used my Samsung S7 Edge for years without ever burning it. Then again I'm often using low brightness levels.

  11. Yes, those that got the 20200304 (on Oct. security patch level) has problems, those that got the 20200306 (On Sep.) does not. I hope it wont be long before we get a new update uniting the two, on a newer security level.

  12. My local phone guy wouldn't touch it because he had no idea what it was. Fair. I let it dry, been checking once a week or so, I've accepted it's not coming back to life. I contacted f(x)tec, who responded very promptly given the current state of the world, and offered a very generous discount under their service replacement policy. I was not expecting that at all, as they really have no responsibility for this mishap beyond releasing a phone that they transparently stated had no waterproofing. I asked if trying to service it would void that offer, and they replied as long as I can put it

  13. I would buy a phone from them if Pro1 would not exists and in the future, I would like to have a Pro2 instead of Astro slide. I like the idea of having vertical slider phones available but I find Pro1's solution to be much better.

  14. Doesn't compete for me. It's their usual concept of palmtop computer: a very compact notebook that also happens to be a phone. • it's huge and heavy • you are supposed to put it down somewhere if you want to use the keyboard Mechanism looks interesting but unless they came up with some magical spring-loading, pushing it all the way back will be a burden. The advantage will be that there are no hinges that get flexed every time you open it.

  15. Before you throw it, ship it to me. I can give it a new home.

  16. And some switch back from two to three when they get old... 😂 Would it be pushing it (excuse the pun) seeing a plain keyboard slider as a handicap friendly version of a real keyboard device like the Pro1? 😇😇

  17. Just got the Pro1 today and somehow got it working on Verizon based on the instructions here. Context: I have an existing account with Verizon. I've been swapping my sim to new devices for years. I've been carrying my sim from Droid Turbo, Turbo 2, Moto Z force, Moto Z2 force, Pixel 3 and now to the FXtec Pro1. Steps I took: Insert existing active sim from Pixel 3. Skip initial setup step to setup network Connect to wifi Update to latest update go to dialer enter *#*#4636#*#* Enable all toggles under phone 1 Set network to LTE only

  18. I don't know where I should post this, and I guess I am too lazy to search the forum for similar issues. But my main camera doesn't focus anymore. It tries though and rolls the focusing back and forth, but never gets anything in focus. Seems like auto exposure is also gone with the focus. I am running Lineage and the problem exists both on Lineage stock camera and Open Camera. Focus still works on front camera, so I believe this is more like a hardware issue. I have taken some otherwise great photos during this week, but they all look like this:
