  1. Finally got the phone. 😀 From what I understand, the delivery guy actually just flags packages meant to come here as having been attempted and a delivery notice having been given even though he kept the package, and he simply does that part of the delivery on the next day (the website doesn't help, implying that said notice is indicating if and where the package might have been left, and will tell you if further deliveries will be attempted if it wasn't). Might be making his life easier, but getting blatantly incorrect info is not exactly what I'd call a good experience for the recipients wh

  2. Looking at how your update is named "userdebug 9", I think you got a unit with a pre-production flag enabled of some sort, so yours came shipped with an unreleased firmware. Maybe you can help test to see if the extensive list of bugs are fixed...

  3. I've had my Pro 1 for 6 months now. I use it without a case or screen protector, just a black matte skin on the back to give the back a little texture. It has been dropped a few times. It shows no wear and is still as solid as the day I got it. The hinge has loosened a little over time, as I would expect, but everything still feels properly aligned. I think this phone has a long life ahead of it. 👍

  4. I've seen it reported that the Pro1 doesn't come with its own recovery. There is a standard recovery included with the phone's firmware. I think there may have been some confusion due to the way you need to access recovery mode. To access recovery mode, you have to either: A) Hold down the volume up when you boot the phone (before the logo screen comes up) or B) Use "adb reboot recovery" from a connected computer or C) Boot into the bootloader (by holding down the volume down when you boot the phone (before the logo screen comes up) O

  6. I bought a nice magnetic case that seemed very sturdy, but it ended up not being usable, since the phone holder is rigid (and it would need like 1 or 2 extra millimeters). I also had a rather rubbery phone holder for a flip case that was not sturdy enough for my tastes. I tinkered a "best of both worlds" version: I used some strong glue to get the magnet attached, so that it's not just held by tape. Some laundry clips straight out of the garden. By pure coincidence, my mom actually brought prawns for dinner while I was working on the cover, so I

  8. OK that fixed it. That "set up your physical keyboard" is really misleading. Looks like the shortcuts also started working as well.

  9. i just replaced my screen a few days ago - wasn't hard at all, see here. i followed for that TeZdevice's advice here. you can do it in less tan half an hour. my screen & digitizer worked thereafter flawlessly. the reboot also brought back some sound effects such as the glang when charging - which implies that Android isn't as stable as a full-fledged unix box. my linux-based Nokia N900 was rock-stable and robust with uptimes up to a year or so...

  11. So I figured it out. Turns out, somehow for Tasker to work with the sensor, "Landscape orientation lock" must be kept enabled.

  12. My pre-order is #18*** without coupon in Japan and I still have nothing. However, on the same condition, #19*** reported he got one already. I just wondering their management on shipping order.

  14. Indeed, I will strongly recommend FinQwerty over stock layouts. (Note that it is not an active app, it is just presenting the system with pre-made layout files)

  15. Also, it worth a look at Finqwerty itself for other layouts.

  16. I don't know if that still holds, but beside the obvious criteria, most obviously date of purchase, since those corona-caused supply shortages also type of keyboard, specific shippings sometimes were also being grouped by destination region. And whatever it was – although I suppose Fxtec really tried, it became clear quite soon that they couldn't really guarantee that shippings unfailingly follow date of purchase (it never was order number anyway, but in this case it is obvious that there must be many #3xxxx orders still open which were paid before any #48xxx order, too, mine being one of them

  17. @ToniCipriani If you have a qwerty you may want to use Fx Qwerty as an alternative to FinQwerty. If you want smart cover and other quality of life features check out Fx Service. If you want a web browser that works best in landscape try Fulguris. Full disclosure: I'm the developer of those three apps 😁

  18. This really should be stickied inside of a troubleshooting thread, this saved me soo much hassle. Thanks for posting!

  19. Take a look at Finqwerty which installs different kind of keymaps, so not this program does the magic, but it registers the required files to the OS. It really worth a try.

  20. I use my own Pro1 since the very end of last year using stock firmware, I don't find it unstable at all. I also use two SIM cards in it, a private and a corporate one. What happened within that hour? I have heard about a problem causes restart in certain conditions, I also ran into it near a specific part of a motorway (near tunnels), but never at other places. It may happen to live in a place which is affected by this problem but I hope it will be repaired and I heard of other phones maybe with the same chipset which had a similar problem resolved. Also, LineageOS may worth

  22. Yeah, the durability of the Pro1 is uncertain at this point. I have no issues yet (knock on wood!) despite even a few very small drops 😬😬 but I scan the "Pro1 for sale" posts here now and then, maybe I'll buy a back-up one...

  24. I've not seen a thorough discussion on the subject, even on internal lineage slack. With several hundred people making up lineage, there are undoubtedly people who want it and people that don't. The major reason it's been dropped is that the security changes in Q make it even more difficult to support. Since it's not really a core feature it will get done last. And if it turns out to be really difficult or intrusive, it may just get dropped. At least until someone with the motivation and ability comes along.

  25. Indeed, sad but true. It's currently not working in 17. I'm hoping they will figure that out. And if they don't, me or someone else likely will.
