  1. Lineage is definitely not alpha. As of the official version, I wouldn't even call it beta. It is a full and stable alternate version of Android tuned to the Pro1. It will now get security updates as they are published and tweaks will happen as new things are discovered. And, no, dual boot is not possible on the Pro1

  2. Yes, you would run from the adb root shell. You stop services exactly as I said, with "stop". It is assumed that you would be running Android (which is the only place where you have both an adb shell and unencrypted data). I haven't really tried this, so if your data is important, it may be wise to boot into recovery and save off a "dd" copy of the userdata partition just in case it doesn't work. That is a challenge in itself, though, because there isn't any place on the device to put that amount of data. You need to have a large enough sdcard to hold the data or stream it to y

  3. The rub of it is that for me, this is still BS. I understand disputes happen, that's life. I even am willing to suspend my disbelief and say sure, this is why it was delayed. But that's pure bull that FX "apologizes for the inconvenience.". No. Apologize for being elusive and not upfront with your customers. We all know problems like that happen, it's okay! What's not okay is keeping us in the dark and then sweeping it under the rug, and when we finally do get answers they don't address the actual reason anyone is mad: the lack of communication. I'm upset the phone's shipment was d

  4. My banking apps work fine on lineage os (official nightly) not setup google pay on it so don't know on that. Sailfish I seriously doubt you will find any banking apps (they probably haven't created one) and safety net doesn't exist its an android thing.

  6. Lineage is based on Android, and if you come from Android phones there is no need to learn any much new things (if "things" working here means android apps also that's your best bet). Sailfish is a whole different world that exists without roots in Android, it's more like linux on a desktop computer in architecture. I believe both work excellent on Pro1 :). Best really is subjective here, I don't really like Android that much including lineage but it's still what I use because of what apps are available...

  7. The SMS/MMS issue is most likely an issue with your operator/carrier. But even if it is the phone, all of the radio code is closed source and copied exactly from stock. So I almost surely could not fix it. Unfortunately, Qualcomm devices do not have an RTC. So the date/time needs to be set at each boot. Normally, the date/time can be set via either a broadcast from your operator/carrier or via NTP with a WiFi connection. But when neither are available, the date/time is indeterminate. Qualcomm does make some attempt to save the current date/time at shutdown, but this code is c

  8. Hello. I am a total noob when it comes to alternative OS's. But am looking to install one of them. Anyone here have an opinion on which one of Lineage or Sailfish is the best alternative? And why?

  9. That sounds great. Am having some bluetooth issues as well as experiencing the phone being sluggish overall. So was thinking other OS's might adress these issues. As well as being better options in the long run, with a bit more dedicated developers? Anyhow, looks like it'll be Lineage OS for me. Thanks a lot.

  10. SailfishOS can be seen as a Linux distribution (Android uses Linux kernel too). Only thing where it relies on Android are Android drivers through libhybris. Certain Android Apps can be run in SailfishOS using an emulator and it is possible and officially supported only on certain Sony Xperia models - so no go on Pro1. The overall state of SailfishOS on Pro1 is a community port in alpha stage. Many thanks to those making it possible (the same goes to LineageOS porters)! Could SailfishOS on Pro1 be used as a daily phone? Well - it depends. Give it a try but don't hope you can fin

  11. I looked at the fingerprint briefly, and noticed that one of my fingerprints keep getting it's md5sum changed. I assume it's one, I have 3 fingerprints saved and each one is in the directory plus a .bak file. Deleting them and re-adding them still gives the same result though. I've tried setting the modify time back, and copying over the old files, but the apps still detect a fingerprint change. I'm not sure if the md5sum should ever change or not, I really don't see why it would. I'll look into this some more.

  13. Please don't. Or at least clearly separate the product review from the support communication review. We all want fxtec to get on their feet and produce more phones in the future.

  14. I am pleased to announce that the Pro1 has received official support in LineageOS 16.0. You can find the builds and installation instructions on the official LineageOS Downloads page. Please note that LineageOS does not include the proprietary Google apps (aka. "gapps", Play Store, etc.), nor a "su" binary. These are "extras" or "add-ons". You may use any appropriate gapps package for Android Pie. I personally recommend MindTheGapps which can be found here. LineageOS maintains an official su add-on and a couple other extras here. Note the Pro1 is arm64 and be sure

  15. Thanks for your reply. I will check apn's config more in depth. I'm surprised, no RTC in Qualcomm's device, that look strange for me. My HP48 is practically on schedule since 1993.

  16. I don't use anything that requires safetynet on Lineage, which apparently includes my banking app. I am rooted and I don't bother hiding it.

  17. Google pay won't be available on it I think. Other things that want Safetynet could at least in the past be tricked with Magisk, but I don't know if that's still the case. I don't use any apps that require Safetynet, I think they are evil, but I seen from John Wu's twitter there might be trouble in paradise.

  18. I would really wish for some more user friendly flexible solutions. So you could easily use fast charging when you need it, and avoid it in daily usage. Sure you can just use different chargers, but the average user is not going to mess with that. It would be better if you only had one fast charger, and when connecting we would get a pop up with some objective message like "Fast charging shortens the overall battery life. Do you need the charging to be fast this time Yes/No" And perhaps with some estimates helping people to decide related to the actual situation.

  19. There's not a whole lot of information out there on BaseUs. Here is one review that seems legitimate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmHqG-uKGHs In my experience with a MotoZ Play and our Pro1, fast charging is quite detrimential to batteries due to the waste heat being generated. A QI charger will make things worse, when it is in close vicinity to the battery it is charging. I also suspect that cheap, or cheapish, third party solutions use low switching frequencies and less efficient voltage converters. Both, the QI sender and receiver, will produce a lot of waste heat, which adds to th

  20. Well we are in the guessing game here. It might just as well be the delivery of parts to the assembling factory that have delayed things, and if so we can hardly blame the assembling factory.

  21. Feels like they are really getting screwed by their manufacturer. At least it sounds like the factory blocked the delivery of more phones, because they took so long to produce them, that the original contract expired.

  23. That's actually incorrect. You were thinking of CDMA a technology that ended with 3G and that was used by Verizon and I think Sprint. 4G doesn't have this issue. Actually 4G is interesting, because unlike previous technologies 4G is data only. VoLTE (Voice over LTE) is technology that encodes voice and sends it as data. Because everything is data in LTE that limitation no longer applies.

  27. Now I have taken time and installed the new screen. It works but I noticed that the digitizer doesn't register edge touches. The outer 5 mm on each side doesn't register presses, but the digitizer works in that area if I start swiping from the middle and go out to the edge. Wonder if it is changed in some firmware for the digitizer...
