Hoping to balance the negativity in this thread, my F(x)tec Pro1 running LineageOS does not seem to have any camera issues regarding focus (see the attached sample I took today). Running LineageOS 18.1 (unofficial; 20210105), using a Google Camera version (though I forgot exactly which one).

Yes, I do think so after following this forum for 1½ years. Throughout that time I've never seen a case of someone who didn't either get their phone, or, if so requested, a refund. Fxtec are slow in communication and tend to give overly optimistic estimates, but the one thing they are definitely not is being "dishonest".

I'd say they hit a major, unforseen supply chain disaster in mid January and scrambled to come up with a solution that allows them to move forward giving folks a still fantastic keyboard phone rather than walking away and saying "this is too much" as IGG would have allowed them. I just want to inform you guys, that over two months later I actually updated my OS to LOS 17.1 with Android 10. I was fearing the update since last time I failed miserably and lost all my data. But the fear was unfounded, I didn't have to get confused with A/B slots and it was fast and easy. Now it's my first six hours with the new OS but I haven't had ANY issues so far. The screen has adhesive around the edges. The middle part of the display which originally adhesive was covered I think for easier disassembly. You should apply some heat near the edges of screen but avoid excessive heat. The best is if you have a temperature-controlled heat gun, but use it at the lowest temperature (100 Celsius degree for me) and a bit away to not stress the plastic parts (or even the display, but it is not important now 🙂 ). As @EskeRahn wrote, replacement display is available on Aliexpress. However, you have to separate original display from the frame and glue the new one in. So you may need some tools like "guitar picker", but it seems it usually comes together with these replacement screens. I have changed my screen a few months ago as my original screen started to get spontaneous touch actions. However, yesterday I had to replace my replaced screen again as it has started to has problems which initially seemed to be "solved" by turning the screen off/on again, but yesterday it became completely dead

How sad. If it is the display only. You can get displays that fits for the "Elephone U". e.g. this on AliExpress (just a random pick out of many)

Before accusing someone of malice, you might consider that people make mistakes. That goes for me, as I indeed misread your statement and didn't see the X, and it goes for Fxtec, too. Beside that, you seem to overlook the fact that the SoCs for the Pro1 X were already ordered, payed for and confirmed, and there were never any more Pro1 X devices planned than those who were sold through IndieGogo.

Afterwards, everyone's wiser. Especially external commentators who didn't have to do the original considering in the first place. When Fxtec presented the Pro1, they explained very well why they chose the SD 835, and while some would have liked an even better SoC, it was never an option. Back then, they simply couldn't get a better SoC for the small quantities they were about to produce, let alone for an acceptable price. There were 3 people with LoS 16 in my household who experienced ghosting. So yes, it was most certainly LoS 16. I jumped straight to LoS 18.1, rock steady.

You can get a Blackberry Priv second hand pretty cheap to hold you over until your Pro1 arrives if you ordered one. In my country they are going for about 100eur. Maybe even a Blackberry KeyTwo for a bit more newer android version, but those are more expensive.

...if i will have cracked display with cracked frame and broken flex then yess...i will buy whole unit...because is not another way. But if will be cracked only display then is better to order only display and then fix it ... Elefone display can be purchased for around $50 - maybe less...and yess...it can come defective unit...but defective unit can come from fxtec too.

I have a dremel tool, but my hand's not very steady and the incisions I'm trying to make are very small, so the cuts end up being a little off or messy. That's why I was hoping to find a solution with more precision. I ended up using an xacto knife cause it allows for more precision since a dremel tool is rather bulky, but it's still not as precise as I'd like. Actually you know what. Maybe my mistake is trying to hold the dremel tool and move it around. Instead i should get some kind of mounted dremel tool, and then move the silicone around. Cause the dremel is awkwardly heav

It is something like a double-sided tape kind of glue, I mean not something strong but a somewhat elastic type. If you don't feel enough experience replacing glued display panels, it is still a good idea to bring it to an experienced / trustworthy repair shop as @EskeRahnsuggested. I would not wait for a complete assembly if it will be available after August but my phone has a faulty display.

I might eventually consider that route (and/or get the help of a trustworthy repair person as @EskeRahn suggested). I have replaced screens on some old phones before, and I far prefer to just replace the whole assembly rather than trying to just replace the glued-in AMOLED panel itself. But waiting until Aug 2021 for a $250 kit from FxTec seems a bit much...

But you might be able to find a local trustworthy repair shop, where you could bring the device and screen, and have them replace it. I do not know if FxTec got hem in stock, but try contacting them at [email protected], I would wish spare parts were more available, too, I personally would like to have a few things in store for the years to come.

Right... thanks, My biggest concern is that I am quite happy to deal with connector ribbons and screws, but I haven't fared well dealing with adhesives in phones...

So... is the "tech bundle" on Indiegogo the only realistic option for getting a spare screen? (short of getting a defective Pro1 for parts, assuming the screen is ok). I dropped my phone yesterday (common theme here!) and while the screen did not crack, it stopped working (i.e., screen will not turn on) even though the phone still works (notification LED lights up, I feel the fingerprint sensor buzzer going). I opened the screen assembly and discovered that the ribbon connector for the AMOLED panel itself just broke off (it didn't just get dislodged, the ribbon itself tore - see photo). S

Is anyone here in Berlin, DE? I have a pro1 that I'm not using. The condition is basically mint - except for the Sim tray, that thing can go straight to hell. There might also be an issue with the FP sensor, I never quite got it to work, but might be my fingers.. I don't want anything for it, so giving it away for free - the thing is I don't want to deal with shipping or anything, so you'd have to come pick it up. It would be nice if the person uses it instead of profitting off it on ebay but that's mostly a pinky promise.. Edit: it's given away now.

Do you think Fxtect would listen us, who support them. Dishonesty is key
