    Spare Parts

(I use mine in a flip case, and it does not need to stick out the case)

    Spare Parts

The USB port is on a separate tiny pcb, (attached to the main board via a cable) ....And if they had added them to the spare parts sold through IGG, I too would have bought a bunch, as this on all phones is a weak point with much wear and tear. May I suggest what I have done> Use an magnetic plug. Sticks out a few mm, but spares the port a LOT of stress. (can be bought for trifles, you should decide if you want charge only, or data also - charge only are the cheapest and there are more offers) https://community.fxtec.com/topic/2368-magnetic-cables
  3. What keyboard software are you using? I will recommend SwiftKey that works well with a physical keyboard (as well as the fake one when closed)
  4. (lineage-17.1-20210315-nightly-pro1-signed.zip on March 5 security patch installed smoothly using adb sideload)
  5. I'm almost certain the hard keytops are not loose on the rubber(?) mat, so I doubt detataching and rearranging would be easy.
  6. I feel exactly the same way on the second part. If I knew a way to trouble free move to AICP (or Lineage) as well as back (if I should regret), I too would have made the jump long ago. I do not have enough knowledge on what is going on behind the scene to know the explanation on the why. But no matter the why, the outcome is still annoying for us as users. Personally I have simply stopped expecting an update (and even stopped and disabled the OTA services with adb shell pm disable-user) . Should it arrive anyway, it will be a nice surprise. Luckily (for me) the most severe bugs I have ha
  7. Just a wild guess based on windows. Some programs change their title depending on what is active. Could that be helpful in getting the password manager to distinguish what password goes to what?
  8. We MIGHT be in a situation that it is the same swindlers that developed the pcb that also holds the source for the software to it, and if so we are unlikely to see things corrected on stock, at the least until some court ruling freeing it so someone else can fix stuff.
  9. I'm almost certain that FinQWERTY does not copy in files, it offers them to the system as resources not as 'physical' files, as I understand it. But I could be wrong.
  10. My guess would be that it would give a better result to polish of the black paint (and most likely that would remove the white and the yellow squares too), and then paint all white, and then with a mask for letters and symbols paint all the rest black. On the software side, you should definitely have a look at FinQWERTY, that is open source, and see how he maps things.
  11. Could well be, I have not experimented with it, but it would make sense if it broke the checksum. Most likely it would be a more safe way to have it delivered through an App, the FinQWERTY way.
  12. Could be that it is echo I have not asked for details, nor have I tried to experiment with someone else talking in my phone. I think there is a huge difference in not fixing a bug, or aPple style claiming that it does not exist. As to the WHY it has not been fixed is anyone's guess. Maybe they tried the swap and it did not help, or had other side effects, Maybe it never reached so high on the ToDo list that it was even attempted fixed. I actually had plans (and started the skeleton) for such an app before I even had the preproduction unit in early 2019. I intended it as a PC
  13. Interesting, are you on stock? I have seen others with the same complaints as me. It could be that it is a matter of usage pattern. If I use it in hands-free mode, and talk loud an clear as I would in a meeting it works fine. BUT if I talk in a normal voice I often get complaints from the other end that they can not clearly hear what I'm saying. Also in hand held calls the proximity sensor teases me. (the sensor has to be quite close to be considered in 'near', would have nice if it was say 5cm)
  14. You lost me there. What app are you missing? One to freely customize the keyboard or? There are offers of alternative layouts like FinQWERTY but that is limited to predefined layouts. So a limitted number of languages supported.
  15. Not in my book. My point is that for simple use it works close to perfect, but I do agree that there are issues, so for complex usage people are likely to be better off with e.g. LineageOS. The only real issue that is likely to hit the broad audience is the voice-call quality issue. IF they fixed that I would say that it worked fine for all but the demanding users. I would claim that the majority of those that do few voice-calls (like me) or do it mostly with headset anyway, would be just fine with stock.
  16. I can not agree with you there. I would agree that tech enthusiast can got more out of the device, by switching the OS from stock. But that is not quite the same as it not being useful on Stock. I have been using my retail unit with stock since November 2019. Sure I tried out the other roms on other units, but I'm yet to use them for other than tests. It is driving me nuts, that voice calls only really work in a satisfactory way with a headset, but as I would guess I usually have a few minutes voice calls a week (no matter the device), for me it is a nuisance more than a deal breaker (I mu
  17. That is not bad at all !! Considering that it is not just cheap plastic like mine. And if we want reduced thickness, I bet cutting out the credit-card part along the edges would take about 3-4mm away, removing the multiple layered material Leaving it practically the same at the PUke leather ones ones. I'm not a big fan of the long flap-magnet mechanism though, I think the side type mechanism is better leaving the whole thing slimmer (at the cost of a little width-protrusion) Though obvoiously also easier to do with plastic...
  18. Indeed, It is clearly a different type than the ones we usually see. Looks like real leather for one thing. Looking at the source there is also an attachment ring. (do not be confused on the 30, the listing has multiple models) BUT it could well be that the leather-part is the same, and only the grabbing shell part being different, that might explain the extra space. @claude0001 What are the external dimensions with a Pro1 inside? The primitive fake-'leather' ones I have been using are 156x79x21mm (83mm including the magnetic) ...BTW. Would be nice if some law requi
  19. Let me try to tag @Erik in the hope he can find out what went wrong.
  20. At the least some are still available at amazon, though at a substantially higher price....
  21. Thanks for the warning, I was not aware. so we better go and collect a stock of what is left...
