I don't necesarily need an SD in the Pro1 but wanted to mention this because I don't fully understand this design choice.

Probably a cost and time saving design decision. AFAIK most dual SIM devices are using that 2de SIM or SD scheme so the hardware components are more likely to be readily available and thus cheaper. Keep in mind FxTec is a startup they can't afford to custom design every single components on that first product. That's true for both hardware and software.

I'm fully aware but the design of the sim tray in the Moto is in fact very simple. It's merely a slightly different layout. The Pro1 could probably use 3 cards simultaneously if it had the same tray layout as the Moto. Anyway it is what it is and I don't really mind.

It can use all three cards simultaneously - it is working for me using an extender for SIM2...

- System updater tries to connect to 0.0.0.0 when checking for OTA updates. This is obviously not going to work. Also couldn't find system updates here yet. I won't be messing around with custom roms anymore because I simply don't have the time tbh..

Are you using a DNS based adblocker the likes of pihole?

I'm getting the strong impression that at least some keys need to be pressed rather hard to get registered; the top offenders being the spacebar and the e. Anyone else with similar issues? The spacebar issue is something I remember from the N900 as well because of the way the spacebar is laid out over several key positions underneath, but it's a pity the problem returened here.

You explained the root of it already. On a large keyboard we typically get some mechanism that ensure a parallel movement of the large spacebar to trigger one contact only. Not on such a compact keyboard. IF you press in the middle you will press more than one contact (and hence need more force), but if you press the spacebar closer to it's ends (within a quarter from each end), you will only press one. Try to press and hold one end, and then press the other end to check. Secondly hold a finger lightly over one end, and then see how far in you can press without the other and going down too.

That's exactly what I have running and I had to whitelist the fota5p.adups.com domain to get it to work. Completely forgot to check. Apologies for the confusion.

Unfortunately Signal still indicates it's using a web socket instead of Google play services for its connection. I'm really wondering now if more apps have this issue and simply don't report it. I know Whatsapp can fall back to web socket if Google services aren't available but I can't find out anything about its connection status.

I have some issues also with the proximity sensor. The screen doesn't always turn off when making a call causing unintended touch screen actions.

Interesting. Can you point me to an example please? 🙂 I googled for sim extenders but can't really figure out what you meant by that.

You need to press exactly at center of the button. Side will click but nothing will happen.

Currently I am using this one and I put some rubber near it as spacers so the phone is not sitting directly on this adapter.

NFC is not working on Pro1. (Yes NFC is enabled) NFC tags work fine with BB Keyone.
Has anyone faced this issue or is it only me?

Signal (messenger app by Open Whisper Systems) complains about missing Google Play services and falls back to a web socket connection. It works but this is probably bad for battery life. The app shows a persistent notification about it (which I can hide but I'll leave it there for now). Other apps such as Whatsapp don't complain but they might have the same issue

Signal is working fine for me.

NFC is working for me - I mean the sensor and not payment service (I am not wanted to set it up yet).

It took me a while to find where could be the sensor but it seems it is somewhere close to rear camera lens.

Ohhhh, it works now! We literally need to tap the camera on the NFC tag! I was tapping everywhere else!
So be prepared for some scratches on camera lens? :-)

Unable to get the Trigger App to enable "WiFi Hotspot" as it seems like it requires root access to function. Well, that's another thread! :-)

No, no such notification.

Have you installed all updates and pass safety net?

And did you install signal from the playstore?

The Bluetooth Audio bug seems to not be fully fixed. I'm using Xiaomi Airdots. When there is a call coming in while I'm listening to music with the airdots and I accept the call the call audio will be on the device. When I end the call audio is completely disabled (when I press play to continue listening to music there's no audio, neiter from airdots nor phone) although audio is running. I need to disable bluetooth and reconnect my airdots to gain back functionality.

That's a yes to all questions. I installed all system updates until it said there are no more updates available. And all my apps come from the play store. The problem persists both over wifi and 4G so a connectivity issue is unlikely.

I could send Android logs to the software devs here if that comes in handy.

Sources why I think this is a Google play services issue:

I know it sounds unhelpful, but did you try a factory reset?

Hey, thanx for making the dream of physical keyboards on smartphones once again come true.

I couldn't help but notice, using the google-calendar in landscape is fine, until you create or edit an appointment, the display picture then flips in vertical mode (physical keyboard still deployed).

And it happens either in auto-mode, as well as in manual rotation mode.

(As a small reference the old Droid4 with a Lineage OS, doesn't flip.)

Cheers!

I haven't. To be honest I am not going to after spending quite a bit of time reinstalling and organizing all my apps. It's a brand new phone and it arrived perfectly clean and without any preexisting user data. I'll just wait for a fix.

--> Just removed all data from Google play services and the play store apps. This trick often fixed similar issues but unfortunately it hasn't helped.

Sigh.... This thread that was supposed to be a thread on known bugs, has drifted into a discussion thread with possible bugs and comments on them, making it impossible for new users to easily find if a bug is already known, reported and verified....

I guess we will have to swing the split and merge axe again... 😥

This is why we need an issue tracker in addition to a forum...
