Got the parcel today. Delivery guy confirmed that the package was missing the company name on the shipping label yesterday. I checked my emails and the email from FxTec clearly showed the company name. To anyone that is using a company address as delivery address: Contact FxTec to make sure they really include the company name on the shipping label. On the old shipping label, instead of the company name, it had my name a second time. And the 'Straße' part read 'Straaye'.7 points

I have experienced those as well... , when we designed the internal I made USB board separately from main board. It's on a mini PCB so replacing it would be cheap as you don't need to change CPU, memory etc...5 points

I suggested a skin protection to Pro 1 such as Samsung Fold's https://www.slickwraps.com/devices/phones/samsung/galaxy-fold.htmlv https://dbrand.com/shop/galaxy-fold-skins Chen liked the idea. It is cheap to fabricate, to install and it is a nice protection5 points

... Found another app, where the sensors can be tried one by one, There are 50, it is the one called "Motion Accel" Shortly after displaying, it restarts the device. (I have tried a few times, but not enough time for a screen shot) ADD: Note that there are more than one app called "Device info" (Also "MultiShake" at the bottom of the list do the same, if you do not exit within about one second) ADD: This bug was originally seen with CPU-Z, a lot on this have been moved over here4 points

Figured I'd add my own unboxing pictures to this thread, happy for a mod to separate but I've only added unboxing pictures that are a bit different to the above. A few notes/thoughts: (1) Anyone know if it's possible to get snap-in AU power prongs? (2) The F(x) logo on the power adaptor is cool. (3) I couldn't find my LG GW620, or my Sony Ericsson C903 (which was technically a slider, though not quite keyboard). There's still one unused Droid 4, which may now never be used. (6) Those small cutouts are trivial when you see them in person, not worth worrying about at al4 points

Coming from the N900 I would love a Sticky Keys function and a function to make Shift actually usable to enter special characters on the number keys, the yellow arrow button is somewhat unergonomic.4 points

You'd only have to pay customs if the delivery is delayed for 13 more months, and maybe not even in that case. It's a condition of the Withdrawal Agreement that Brexit (if it goes ahead) will initially consist of a 'transition period' lasting until at least the end of December 2020, and that during the 'transition period' the UK will effectively still be in the EU's Customs Union = no customs charges or VAT. After 13 months, who knows?3 points

For those that know what they are doing on Android the key mapping should be straight forward https://source.android.com/devices/input/key-layout-files https://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/KeyEvent https://source.android.com/devices/input/key-character-map-files We already got FinQWERTY handling the nordic layout for both the shifted QWERTY and the unshifted QWERTZ, see http://android.onse.fi/finqwerty/pro1.html I have been in contact with the guy behind FinQWERTY Anssi Hannula, to find out if there was an easy way to upload these in a clean way on a no3 points

Pro1 is under an approval (final stage) from Google to activate security features. Once it's finished we will release an OTA to activate contactless payment. Everything has been submitted and we are awaiting.3 points

Yes I copied the boot.img from the factory restore thread to my SD card, then did the "Patch file" install from Magisk Manager. It created magisk_patched.img. I copied that back to the pc, and ran "fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img". There was no need for TWRP to be installed. It is a shame because I would have liked an unrooted and rooted stock backup for easy restore.2 points

@mcdinner may have just found the reason we are not having any luck, and it's my fault xD. (edit: we were chatting about it in discord, feel free to join us https://discordapp.com/invite/k4NtAGy ) https://forum.xda-developers.com/pro1/development/custom-roms-lineage-t3981821 Specifically the lines "A working TWRP exists, but keep in mind system-as-root limitations." and "System-as-root means that /system is mounted as /, but it also means that recovery is a part of boot image, so flashing it as the whole boot partition won't let you boot the system. There'll be a need for TWRP installer sc2 points

After 13 months we're very likely at a stage where the phones are sold from stock and also have other retailers available. For example, the DragonBox Shop, based in Germany, is already taking additional pre-orders. That would be one option for EU customers to avoid importing if Brexit happens. Nothing to really worry about at this stage indeed.2 points

So I'm essentially stuck now. I reflashed everything to factory (the long list of commands), then I did the first boot. I didn't complete setup. I rebooted to check it did a clean boot and got the initial setup again. Next, I flashed TWRP and rebooted. It immediately asked me for a password to continue. "To start Android, enter your password". What? I did some looking around and other people got this after flashing TWRP and listed some default passwords. "password" and "default_password", neither worked. Someone said to run the command "fastboot format userdata" which I did, and it results2 points

So i gave this a try, and it doesn't seem to work. Here's what happened. I flashed TWRP, this worked fine I then flashed Magisk zip file which worked too Upon booting up I am asked for my pin, but my pin is WRONG every time. I know I am putting the right one, it worked when I turned it on! I go back to TWRP and think ok I will do a factory reset, this fails, and I think it wiped the OS too because I'm stuck on an endless boot I am going to follow the post for returning to factory, then I will do something different: I won't set any pin or fingerprint and see what ha2 points

Well with some extra thickness to get a better protection, we are talking a case/shell, not just a film. I don't think that we can get more than scratch-protection from a film.2 points

It is a setting somewhere. Double tap to wake works fine on my retail unit...2 points

You can disable lock screen and use the phone without pin or pattern code. Then you are able to "unlock" with just pressing the power button. If you want to use lock screen you should be able to unlock with fingerprint sensor only. No need to press buttons. Some Android phones have double tap to unlock feature but it seems that it is missing from Pro1? Maybe it can be implemented with custom kernel? Edit: This feature is also supported on Pro1 🙂 If you can do little bit coding maybe it is possible to compile Android port. It used to work couple years ago. https://www.2 points

There is a "tap to wake" setting, under Display, that is Off by default. It works fine if you turn it on here.... 😉 How you set it to wake the camera I do not know.2 points

Well I would not say that I recommended it, That was the cheap one I tried as a proof of concept... I guess about any shell or case for the Note 7 would do just as fine. And the modifications needed really are minor not "heavily" 1) Open up near the Fingerprint 2) Extend existing holes for the 3.5,mm and USB plugs 3) Make a cut in the back for the camera/blitz (and secondary microphone) 4) For the flipcase I cut away the credit card part, to reduce the thickness. Note that some flip cases MIGHT have saved on the material under this - I felt with a finger first before cutting, a2 points

To be more precise it is a film that can curve, it it is not shaped curved like some plastic protectors are. This one is flat when you unpack it. I did not apply it, but from what I can see it will cover the full display.2 points

Now that the phone started to reach the first pre-order clients, I think it's ok to necro-bump this thread. What are the current case options? Is there any work happening in this area? It would be a crying shame to get this great phone and damage it during the frist week of use because of lack of decent protection options. Myself, I'm a fan of premium leather flip-cases, but they all have a design flaw. Whenever they try to accomodate space for credit-card sized items, these tend to scratch the screen on prolonged use. Something that would be easily fixed by leaving the surface that touch2 points

On my device, OpenSL ES (Android’s low-level sound API) seems to have issues. I’ve tried using SunVox (paid app, sorry, but it’s worth it if you’re interested in making music) and get all sorts of pops and crackling, even when disabling visualizations (logo on the top left, Preferences, Modules, disable “Show oscilloscope” and “Show level meter”) or increasing sample buffer (in Preferences, Audio, set Buffer to a high value). Sounds to me as if the audio samples don’t get to the DAC fast enough or there’s too little buffer somewhere else down the line. Caustic (free demo) works when using the2 points

I never really understood that either. So just made a series of single images, so people can browse quickly over in seconds and only investigate whatever they want to see,2 points

I am not in UK but in EU. If the Brexit comes and Pro1 arrives after the Brexit, will I have to pay customs? BTW If Finland were to leave EU, it would be called Fixit.2 points

the very day i bought Note 8 after just half an hour it slipped out of my hand and dropped to floor. Note 8 is so big and very slippery. lucky no damage was done. so i bought a get case which is much better to grip1 point

After using the leather slip case with my Priv for the last 3 years it does suite my use case and the phone still looks brand new. However I appreciate that this doesn't suit everyone. I have purchased a flip case for the Galaxy Note 7 which @EskeRahn recommended. I appreciate that this will need to be heavily modified to work with the Pro1 but one of the modifictaions I would make would be to glue some kind of soft felt material on to the side that makes contact with screen.1 point

I also have been puzzled by this. But today i am damn well excited to see them, for the first time :D.1 point

Do we have an update on second and third batches? Last post I heard from Chen they we're supposed to leave the factory early this week but I don't think anyone got a stock assignment email from the second batch Glad people got delivery but my phone may still be at least a month away1 point

Isn't this an accurate definition of a term "startup"? 😉 Please, be patient. I'm waiting for QWERTY slider for more than 2.5 years (I'm in a first hundred of IGG backers), I'm live in not rich country (so Pro1's price is not something cheap for me) and I'm still not blaming or swearing anyone =)1 point

When it comes to remote access to Windows, my favorite is Parsec. It is aimed at gaming, but that doesn't mean it can't be used for other purposes. I admit, I have not touched RDP based stuff in a good while, but unless they stepped up a ton, Parsec offers a way smoother and lower latency experience. In the local network it's very close to sitting in front of the screen itself. In my experience it's also a tad bit better in latency compared to similar technology, such as Steam Link. It does support hardware keyboard/mouse/gamepad input from the Android client, so it would be a good fit for1 point

There is a know "bug": Under desktop, long press a key will launch app shortcut (quick launch apps) but short type will go to google search. However every time Google search is launched this way, the cursor will return to the left after user typed the first letter. This is the bug from Google Search app, unfortunately we have nothing to do with it. What we have considered is to have search for drawer when type under desktop, instead of launching Google Search.1 point

A leather flip case kinda seems to me like the only way the screen could be protected very good, so that would be my vote. I really like cases that somewhat recess the screen but it seems pretty much an impossibility with a slide out keyboard, for nokia e7 this existed (but seems unrealistic to implement well with smaller bezels): https://www.fonearena.com/blog/37714/review-otterbox-case-for-nokia-e7.html1 point
