  1. There are two places in the code that handle fingerprint data. The vendor code is responsible for storing the actual fingerprint data corresponding to your finger and assigning it an identifier (ID). This particular FP vendor stores its data under /persist which has caused other issues. The vendor code tells the Android framework its list of ID values on request. Android stores the ID values and some other bits of information in another place (under /data). It is possible (I would say likely) that the issue is in the vendor code. It probably isn't actually deleting your finger

  3. @EskeRahn and @Slion, I tested my phone with magnet and I was able to lock via the hall-probe sensor. I used Keyboard/Button Mapper and Screen Off and Lock apps. Mapper detect when I remove the magnet but I don't know which action could wake up the screen.

  4. Same here. I've been *very* impressed with the battery life on the Pro1 with the stock rom.

  5. separating the TPU housing from the Snakehive leather is pretty easy and straightforward : detach it slowly, help with your finger tip, so you don't rupture the thin leather sheet. you may first want to remove that thin black foil attached to the inner side of the TPU case. that way you see what you do underneath the TPU when detaching it from the leather. tape : i bought double-sided sticky carpet tape but ultimately refrained from using it as i was afraid i can't separate it later from the leather. glue : i went with the glue solution which worked flawlessly. i guess they have a

  6. I'm curious, how's your battery life with Android 10 GSI? (Asking because I'm quite impressed with the battery life on the Pro1 so far).

  7. I did not use it long enough to really judge this, but it seemed fine, as in it didn't seem to go down faster than stock.

  9. I appreciate people posting these updates as either I've fallen off the email list or people who have received their phones no longer get updates. Lol. I may have my phone, but I'm still interested in what is happening and want to see everyone get their phones.

  10. I did not do a port, I installed a GSI which you can easily download. Because of googles Project Treble thing and the pro1 stock rom being fairly compatible with it, as long as you have their vendor and boot image, other versions of android mostly work by just flashing the system image. At the time I installed it I wasn't aware there are instructions for it but it was reasonable straightforward and went without a hiccup 🙂, if you want to try it I recommend following this guide though https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/wiki/F(x)tec-Pro1

  11. I came across something odd with my Pro 1 (which is, by the way, an absolutely fantastic device). I noticed what other users noticed as well: the fingerprint reader is not optimally placed, to put it mildly. After having sent some random messages to random people in my contact list, because I had accidentally unlocked the phone with my right thumb in my pocket, I decided to remove all fingerprints I recorded. So at this point my list of fingerprints was empty. I decided to only add my right index finger. Strangely, next to that index finger, the device now also unlocks with my thumb,

  14. Experimented with a slightly different approach that might be helpful for those that do not like any of the other techniques. Simply applyied a tiny strip of high friction tape at the back edge, with this it is so easy that you can even lift up using your nose(!) ...Yes I actually tried it...

  15. I took a slow motion video of opening the Pro1. You don't need to pay attention to the technique I used because I had to use my other hand to shooting the video.

  16. Works flawlessly so far. Thanks for the tip. It also made me realise it should be able to properly lock the phone programmatically leading to this:

  17. Been hacking on the lights HAL this morning (shhh, don't tell my wife). I think I've got the logic figured out so that the keyboard backlight always keeps the proper state (which is, on only when both the screen is on and the slider is out).

  26. clacker? edit: realized that if the Pro¹ hinge mechanism ended up becoming known as the clacker, people might mix it up....
    1 point
  27. Well it uses hinges instead of sliders, so a keyboard hinger? Though people might think it's a completely folding one like the Cosmo Communicator then.

  28. @shani You will get used to the mechanism it in a short time and hopefully you will change your mind. If you have ever used Nokia N97 (Mini) E7 N950 you will probably this is a "feature" instead of a design flaw. I think the only this that can be mis-leading is calling it a "slider" with the fact that it uses a lift-turn hinge. "Slider" would mis-lead user to think it slides like Droid 4 and can push from middle of the screen. (Instead of lifting / pushing the edge) Maybe we could invent a new word calling this?

  29. All the others would include n97, e7, n950... In my opinion they made the best possible choice.

  30. For me, it's only the second worst thing about it. I'm baffled they didn't include slash key. To me I can't understand how it made it to production without this. It was mentioned many times years ago, and sure enough, we get it, and no slash key. If I had to chose between easy open or slash key, I'd keep the difficult opening and have that key. However, I think there is some significant variation in units, but this is personal opinion, I haven't handled more than one. Some people like me and you and various reviewers report how difficult and awkward it is to open, and then someone h

  31. I don't see the design flaw, mine opens effortlessly To me it's just fine for daily use. Takes milliseconds longer than my Droid 4 which is inconsequential to me. Not once have I felt like it was going to fly, or be thrown, out of my hands. It's like we have two different devices! I hate to say it, but I think there is something wrong with your phone. Or maybe mine is the outlier? What bothers me the most is the shifted keyboard. Even the QWERTZ isn't a solution because there are too many keys so one will always need to use an unnatural reach a

  32. I'm baffled too. In your reference to older keyboard phones you clearly have never used one of the many many Nokias with the same mechanism principle, or you would know that a tilted slider is opened differently than a straight slider. AND that many people had issues with those the first few times too. YES it is not intuitive to open, and YES f(x)tec could have done a more clear job telling that to people. But that you haven't mastered to open it yet does not make it a "design flaw". With that attitude a bike is a "design flaw" having only two wheels, and thus not easy and intui

  33. F(x)tec confirmed during IFA that Pro1 will be updated to Android 10. I think that it was also mentioned on Twitter also. https://www.trustedreviews.com/reviews/fx-tec-pro-1 "FX Tec has done very little with the software here, instead sticking to a very clean version of Android 9 Pie (with Android 10 coming later)." https://www.mobiflip.de/fxtec-pro1-android-smartphone-mit-hardwaretastatur-im-hands-on/ Translated: "F(x)tec is still covered when it comes to upgrading to Android 10. They are in contact with Qualcomm." This was initial promise but they confirmed that they
