  1. Here are my tips and tricks for F(x)tec Pro1 Configuring the keyboard layout Right after the initial setup the phone will ask you to set the keyboard layout. QWERTY users should remain unselected and QWERTZ users should select German so that layout will match the physical keyboard prints. However, if you want to modify some keys with pre-designed layouts you can try Fx Qwerty (for QWERTY) and FinQwerty (both QWERTY and QWERTZ) Adjusting the screen size Screen size is not optimal with default settings for landscape use so you might want to adjust it. 2. For me I think the hardware is the best part of the phone, the software isn't my favourite. For me getting a smooth running version of PostmarketOS with anbox and PHOSH working would be the dream.

  3. Right, FinQwerty is mandatory for proper using of international layouts. Interesting... it seems I use both of them as small. ...maybe that was why I was wondering one of the web pages I often visit loads in a mobile-like outfit (it is a Drupal system which moves sidebars to the bottom if resolution is below 1024 pixels). However, it seems logical resolution is still below this value. I have tried this application and it looks good, but I had problems with my keyboard when it was installed (slower appearing of characters and unintended repeat of characters). Maybe it is b

  4. Here are my pro tips: Go select the APN in the SIM settings menu if network data is not working. If still no network data you may have to create an APN manually. Customize yourself a smart bookcase as it will solve some of the basic issues people are complaining about: Unwanted input on the screen edge. Though that one was never much of an issue for me as I've used a curved display since Samsung S7 Edge. Too many attempts on Fingerprint reader. That one is really a pain without a case. Install Fx Service to test and use your smart case auto lock.

  5. I recently swapped the screen assembly of two broken Pro1s to get one working. To access the screws at the back of the display you need to remove those stickers covering them. Now I was wondering if replacing those stickers with slightly thicker rubber pads would help with rattling when the phone is closed. Then I found those guys that could produce something usable for that application: https://www.rhnuttall.co.uk/pads/rubber-pads/ Looks like they could produce 0.8mm thick neoprene rubber pads for this application. Just have to give them the proper diameter. Some one men

  7. I don't know for sure, but initial code inspection seems to indicate there is no debounce interval set for the power button. This would be trivial to add.

  14. I added some 0.5mm pads at various places, so 0.8mm inserted over the screws sounds right. I like the idea. 👍

  17. The notion that manufacturers would be interested in a long life of their products is, unfortunately, a misunderstanding 😉 That's probably because he meant Quick Charge, not Quality Control 🙂

  18. Yes, adb backup will backup your applications. It is not guaranteed to backup all applications, as there is an opt-out for apps. But typically this is only used by sensitive apps (eg. my 2fa app for work opts out). Yes, your internal storage is accessed via MTP/PTP. You should be able to see all your files when you connect to a PC. Things like all your camera photos, music files, and such.

  23. I had exactly the same symptoms until it was hardly usable. The ghost inputs where mostly located along the same vertical landscape pixel line. You can check that using some touch tester app. The latest version of Fx Service can disable the touch screen altogether. There is a shortcut to toggle the overlay that's disabling the touches, Ctrl + Fn + O.

  27. Just published release v0.9.2 adding an option to disable the touch screen for those of us experiencing ghost touch inputs. Just be careful with it as I don't know what happens if you reboot your device while this is on for instance. Please don't blame me if you need to reset your phone because of it 😁 I've updated the certificate so you will need to uninstall the previous version first.

  29. Just to update everyone - I have received a new screen through the post this morning. When I get a chance I will attempt to replace it and video it for reference.

  30. Ah I see, yeah I am in contact with support, will have to see were that leads. Temporary solution is to use an app I found called "Partial screen" it supports putting touch masks over the screen, but they are not transparent so now I have an 8 mm high ribbon over the screen where I cant see, would be better if it was just dead and not phantom touches.

  31. @hka I'm still waiting for delivery of the screen replacement, I've just chased this up with support. I am no longer experiencing the original issue of multiple registered touches - it has now evolved into simply being a dead part of the screen, approximately 8mm in height, so I am just working around that (useful to have a keyboard!)

  32. My phone has developed the same problem 😞 Was it easy to replace the screen?

  33. So I've now had an email from support which is basically insinuating that the engineers don't believe the video and that some software has been applied to cause the touches from the edge to not respond. This is pretty insulting and not a good look. I will be refitting the replacement display and taking a video of the device to show the light bleed too as that is apparently what is required to convince F(x)tec that the display is faulty. @Erik @Waxberry As a backer for your IndieGoGo campaign and therefore a loyal follower of your company up to this point, I think you need to address

  35. OK so I've replaced the screen - thanks @pistikem for the references. I did film it but not sure it's worth uploading as the guides above are of much better quality. Unfortunately, it appears the screen I've been sent has problems. While it's solved my initial issue, I've now got two "dead" zones running down each edge of the display, left and right. The reason I use the quotations is that it registers touch if I drag out from the middle of the display, but doesn't register a direct touch or dragging in from the edge of the display, which is most peculiar. I replaced it again with th
