  1. Hello random people in a forum not even working for the company I would love to test a product that is already on the market for a year. I would also advertise it. I do not think any more information about my advertising range are needed. I also won't state how I plan to do that. Please send me something to sign. Best regards, Username specifically created for that forum, because else it could bear any information at all

  2. Lineage OS 17.1 for Pro1 can be seen from the scheduler. https://www.lineageoslog.com/build/scheduler

  3. Correct. I can be bad at patience but I'm very glad that TDM and Nolen put in the contributions to make this possible even so. It really makes the software so much better for the hardware.

  4. I noticed that there was interesting information revealed in the Indiegogo page. Pro1 X Smartphone Functionality, Choice & Control First units were delivered to customers at the turn of October-November 2019 so I believe that "thousands of devices" covers every manufactured unit so far. Back in January 2020, it was estimated that F(x)tec had sold about 1000-1400 units while the highest serial number posted to the forum was #1011. Most of the devices were pre-ordered in 2019. Currently highest known serial number is #2155 so maybe another 1000+ devices are/will be sold in 2020?

  5. I was not trying to understate F(x)tec. I really like their work and I hope that they will continue business. Pro1 is my daily driver and I already backed Pro1-X. I was also a backer for Moto Mod keyboard. I was just trying to discuss how well F(x)tec has done in business manner? Is there room for growth? I have heard several times that there is demand for QWERTY phones but no product that you can buy. Now we have a great product but it is not for masses as long as you have to pre-order it via Indiegogo etc.

  6. Wow, it seems LineageOS 17.1 support is already official. 🙂

  7. You can always buy the device and write a review. Then try to get it published by promoting your work to tech sites. Maybe you can something for compensation? That is what I did.

  8. Yes, she confirmed that she had Android 9 on her phone when she bought it. I am very interested in 17.1, but rather wait for a few days/weeks for a stable release. Without TWRP, experiments seem dangerous 😁 Wow, it is incredible to see how well you care for our beloved Pro1. Thank you (and Nolen)! 😊

  9. There was an attempt to publish it on F-Droid but it was rejected because it uses Firebase. To be fair an F-Droid release would not give you much over the download variant which has a built-in check for update. You can also disable Firebase from the settings. I'm trying to get it on Playstore in an attempt to monetize to hopefully bring much needed features. F-Droid won't help me with monetizing.

  10. Well maybe if we could summarize the pros and cons of various ideas, including those completely abandoned (and why) , it will be easier to consume than six pages of suggestions and comments....

  11. Me too! Me too! I already have a Pro1 but of course that means I NEED a 1X for... testing purposes! I'll be walking around with BOTH PHONES OPEN so that people can see how awesome the blue casing is and how nice the screen rattles and the really nice keyboard! ... the keyboard really is nice though. Using reddit and other forums never has been as easy on the go!

  12. So I looked up that device and it has a SDM730 chip, which means that this issue apparently spans multiple qcom devices. But it did ship with Android 9, which we also use. I am guessing that her device has been upgraded to Android 10 and the issue is fixed there. So one thing to try, if you can, is upgrade to Lineage 17.1. Nolen has a build if you are interested. Or you can wait a few more days, he is just about ready to switch official builds.

  13. Any plans on an F-Droid version?

  14. I didn't remember that! Good to know. In a business manner - Pro1 is like the milestone for the company, they made new business contacts and from now they can negotiate new contracts with bigger quantities which are a bit more prioritized. Now it will be rolling like snowball, if they will be able to find new customers and we will be able to change the phone every 2-3 generations 🙄

  15. Well on the last "them" part. AFAIK the Moto Mod was a Chen only project. Adrian and Chen created F(x)tec together to create the Pro1.

  17. Now the big question is how do we make sure FxTec is taking those suggestions into account? @Erik @Waxberry

  18. Now that we do know Del can easily be moved to a secondary function of Backspace on Android I've updated my suggested layout there: For clarity those layouts are only showing the unmodified and shift modified layers. I've put Del as Shift + Backspace even though to be correct and since this is a device specific feature it should really be Fn+Backspace however those kind of details don't really matter at this stage and if implemented properly this could all be fine tuned using custom layouts.

  19. I just tested Fn+Backspace to do Del on Fx Qwerty and that works just fine. It should work the same with any other modifier. I see no reason why this should not be doable on the other operating systems either. That means we should really push to have FxTec remove the dedicated Del key. Note: confusingly in the Android API Backspace is actually called DEL and Del is called FORWARD_DEL.

  23. @VaZso, you're right, I had a SIM and a MicroSD in the tray at the same time which made it difficult to remove. I tried many (plastic) tools to remove the tray, but eventually only (metal) computer tweezers could successfully grab the tray.

  24. Maybe you are right, but a not really thoughtful usage of a metal thing (like a screwdriver) may cause this injury without internal damage I think. If you have too short nails and/or use a SIM + uSD card together then an opening tool may needed and a wrong material / wrong usage may lead to this...

  25. Hi All, Selling my QWERTY Pro1 in the US: https://www.ebay.com/itm/203163444398 It's almost new except for some minor damage to the outer edge of the SIM/MicroSD card tray. Successfully used the phone on Cricket/AT&T, and I'm including a Huawei P20 bumper that fits the rear part of the phone. 🙂

  26. I am sorry for being the annoying guy with my strong feelings here, but in my opinion any layout (1) without a right Ctrl key, (2) without a bottom left Ctrl, or (3) with the arrows block splitting the usual punctuation symbols are absolute no-go. (1) No one answered my question about how are supposed to be used the Ctrl+Alpha combinations without a right Ctrl when most those combinations imply the whole left-hand alpha block (QWERTASDFGZXCVB), but I believe it is a huge thing to consider. Those keys serve in text editing, file management, tab management, window management, terminal work,

  28. I can answer the AT&T question. Yes, it will operate fine on the AT&T network (I have used it on the Pro 1 with stock Android and Lineage).

  29. I reckon FxTec should send all of us on this thread a free Pro1 keyboard upgrade kit when this is all over 🤣

  30. Yes as I understand it they are experimenting with "dual boot", allowing us to have more than one system on the device at a time. And with 256GB, splitting it should not be a problem for the majority. I personally hope for the ability to have a primary Lineage partition, and then a small one with Stock Android for any picky apps, that will not run on Lineage. (And for debugging if something do not run as expected under Lineage)

  31. There are many considerations to stock/factory software. Here is a (probably not complete) list from someone who has been relatively close to the process in the past but not directly involved: * The software must be cryptographically signed. IdeaLTE has the private device key and, as far as I know, FxTec does not have a copy. So FxTec has no way of generating valid software unless they get that key from IdeaLTE. * The software must be loaded at the factory. This means FxTec would need to provide software in the format that IdeaLTE requires, which is probably not a b

  32. Apps may use different ways to detect if the phone has been modified afterwards. Some apps check root and others SafetyNet/bootloader status etc. I have also seen apps that refuse to work if developer settings are activated. Most of Finnish banking apps work just fine on custom ROMs (even rooted) but there is a bank called OsuusPankki (OP) which causes trouble. It has two popular apps called OP Mobiili and Pivo. Here is how they work on different phones/ROMs. Redmi Note 4: AOSP ROM (Android 11), GAPPS flashed separately Bootloader unlocked No root SafetyNet does NOT

  34. People should remember that F(x)tec is a really small company that has brought something unique to the market. They have tried their best and I have to give credit to them. Sure, F(x)tec could do things better. Pro1 is not a perfect device and it has its issues. But in the end of the day what other options do you have if you want smartphone with keyboard? There are some alternatives but no other company has a QWERTY slider available. (Astro Slide 5G is coming of course). If you can live without keyboard then you have plenty of choices and you can skip Pro1-X. If keyboard is s must then yo

  35. Remember that the two shifts and two ctrl pairs are one key each logically, they are wired. So you can not do the suggested swap on the right side of space

  36. I tried. 😄 Used Craftcloud, tried ABS with 40% infill, ordered two bumpers and two backs. The bumper went on, but falls off in my pocket. After a couple hours, it no longer stays on at all. The backs were both obviously warped. I broke one trying to straighten it, both were too short to attach even momentarily. Maybe PLA?
