Pro¹ X – state of production and delivery
VaZso replied to Rob. S.'s topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
I thought similarly, so I was thinking of buying a Moto Z phone but still wanted to wait for Keyboard Mod... ...but when my N900 has started having flash problems (again as it was not my first N900), I had to buy a replacement phone... although I could manage to use my old N900 with the help of an SD card (it had a 256 MB main flash and 32 GB eMMC, the latter was the source of the problem), so the hardware was already slow enough (especially the limit of 256 MB RAM) which caused me to buy a replacement one... Still I did not want to buy a Z force, instead, I have bought a temporary phon -
I have a PinePhone (not Pro version) and also have keyboard accessory. Sometimes I have played with it but I do not have much free time for experimenting. However, the phone's display could be better (its resolution) and hardware is basically a bit slow... I think it may not be the CPU which had limit for me but also transfer speed of flash could be better. OS support is slowly improving but I could reach a state in two distributions where phone stopped booting by simple upgrades, however, maybe it was not a good idea using apt instead of GUI interface. The keyboard also loo

Right, and there are exactly two years between last vendor security patch level and current LineageOS security patch level...

I am only once. 🙂 That may explain the receipt of free headphones - I mean the very early place in the row, at least earlier than mine. 🙂 -

Wow, I thought nobody have received it. Anyway, are you a former Keyboard Mod backer? -

Anyway, until recently, they only had rough predictions on potential shipping times or even less... there were too many uncertainities. Now they are starting to share more information simply because the number of potential uncertainities are highly decreased, so this date is mch more accurate than any earlier dates... not because those dates were already elapsed, but because we see FCC certification went through, they state components are arrived, etc, so it seems it is up to the factory and logistics which will determine the actual shipping date of the phone. -
Can't believe it's finally happened. (Cracked Screen)
VaZso replied to MickH's topic in General Discussion
Maybe T-8000 for example. Ensure to glue it well (using a flexible glue). Display practically should not move in its shell as it may cause later problems with screen or touch panel. -

They have just released another official update here: -
Pro1, Ghost touches and other digitizer and display issues
VaZso replied to michal@hanu.la's topic in Support
There is a long thread about this issue causing "Ghost touches". Basically the root cause of the problem is the same (and also phone which have "Ghost touches" are having this blind line)... there are two ribbon cables coming from display at the bottom side (in portrait orientation). A very wide cable contains display signals and a narrow cable contains touch signals. There is a dedicated touch processor at the back of display but most likely the ribbon cable broke somewhere (either the cable or the glass to cable connection). I never heard removing and reinserting display cable wo -

Chen has posted some info about GMS pass and OTA provider change: -
It needs re-gluing and I would suggest to do it as soon as possible. Although at the other (bottom) side, there are ribbon cables and if it breaks, it can develop screen or touch-related problems. If you are not confident enough to do it yourself, there should be a repair shop around who may do it for you. For gluing, there are somewhat flexible glues like T-8000.

Also for me... anyway, Magisk has started to notify an update is available few months ago which lead for disabled notification for Magisk on my phone as I did not want to update to the "dumb" version. (Also, one of my friends did it and Safetynet has stopped working.) However, I am curious of the new solution but I will stick to LineageOS 18.1 till I don't see it is working...
-
Basically I can use banking apps which need to pass SafetyNet test using Magisk... However, there were changes around Magisk and I don't know what the current solution is instead of MagiskHide which also needed for these apps to work. As far as I know, current version of Magisk has that removed but old version still works on LineageOS 18.1 (Android 11), however, I doubt it will work on any later major Android version(s).

I would not say it is safe considering it is more than a year since it was updated... I have used stock OS because it was set up and it is a bit harder to do a major update on a daily driver without a proper way of backup/restore in case something went wrong... However, stock OS simply had a lot of problems and LineageOS works as good as possible, the only problems remained were built into kernel, so they are basically not LineageOS-related. Device is really fast, NFC payment is working, every functions work as they should...
-
They have stopped pushing updates for Pro1 a very long time ago. ...or is it about update system which also stops working? Anyway, LineageOS still provides an up-to-date Android environment, however, there are still bugs in kernel which could only be improved through manufacturer as having closed-source components and what is very sad to be left alone...

I think you may have a slight chance if you have a "contribution ID" low enough but I doubt if you have ordered later. -

I don't know why it forwards you to QX1000 but it works for me also using my phone. 🙂 I am speaking about this message: So there was a strange behaviour somewhere... -

I haven't checked all documents but you are right - it may be a mistake anyway but it does not really matter I think. 🙂 I wanted to check internal photos anyway... Definitively no. You may also check documents for Pro1 here and I see main PCB and USB board are definitively different. Anyway, it was the unit sent for FCC approval especially for Pro1-X, it should nothing to do with Pro1 (these are completely different units in this aspect). -

VaZso replied to Rob. S.'s topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
An FCC page has been also published yesterday of Pro1-X FCC approval - see here. Pro1's internal name is QX1000 (this is what also included in camera's EXIF info) and Pro1-X's internal name will be QX1050. There is a confidentiality request which tells internal and external photos, test setup photos and user manual will be available after 180 days. -
I just want a simple Android phone with a Physical Keyboard (PKB)
VaZso replied to ExplEngineer's topic in How Tos
I have a friend who collects phones and I held his E7 in my hands maybe one or two years ago and I had a feeling its hinge mechanism is very stable although it was his daily driver for several years and it was technically (and also mechanically) still fully functional (it should be in a similar state also now). Anyway, it's mechanism is very similar to Pro1's mechanism and also this was the cause we took a look of that phone by that time and also later we took two Pro1s and this E7 near each other for some comparison. As of Pro1, my phone still has a good hinge mechanism after years of us -

It is something like a joke... Basically old communicators used landscape keyboard and also N900 or killed N950 had the same orientation. (There were also some other phones like HTC Kaiser and so on.) However, there is a different approach what also Blackberry has designed, these devices have portrait keyboards. These two perspectives are belong to very different words and people who like landscape keyboards usually do not really like portrait keyboards and vice versa... that is why the direction is wrong. -
