After a solid month, I give up. I need to vent.
Craig replied to fxyo1's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
Before I looked at your picture, I was imagining you meant something more like this. -
Ya now you mention it its possible with keymapper too. But I was thinking something built in, ideally I dont want to have to run keymapper or tasker, be able to do everything just by editing files or settings etc (even with adb root shell is fine).

One more feature request - a way to lock from keyboard. I often leave my device sitting on my desk in landscape, and its awkward to reach around back to lock. If I could do from keyboard somehow, that'd be great. If its possible as a bookmark, meta/Fx+something would be great. Otherwise, left-slant-arrow plus something would be just as good.

Most humans do start with a tricycle before bicycle for that very reason, sometimes for years. And then some even switch up to four wheels for a while before going to 2.... -
I'm quite happy with how keyboard is functioning in LOS, it's certainly better than stock in some ways (ALPHA, meta, right-alt) but worse in others (stock has both slant arrows on same keycode, now LOS seems they have no keycodes at all). There are two things I want to customize to make it ideal for me, and I can't figure out how to do it. How do I assign the right slant arrow as key to behave as standard slash/questionmark key. I don't care if this requires root or an external app at this point, I just want it to work, this has been my number one complaint with Pro¹ since the

Since alt is supposed to be sticky, I guess you could still use it the way you want and see the popup keyboard.... but one would have to test it to be sure it works that way. The symbol keyboard from right alt should work exactly the same as the emoji keyboard on left alt, and neither one should pop up if you press another key before releasing respective alt key.
-
Is there a recommended procedure to go from one test build to another and keep gapps working? And is it necessary to flash the new recovery each time also? When I went test4-->test6 I tried to follow the step by step again, just skipped the new recovery and the factory reset, but did flash mindthegapps again. However still google apps crashed when ran, had to manually unininstall and reinstall everything I wanted to work (i.e. maps, gmail, hangouts, etc).... I assumed this is cuz I botched the upgrade somehow.... Perhaps @tdm you could update your webppage instructions to not

This should already be possible in keyboard layout if you want.... The emoji/symbol keyboards only comes up when you RELEASE the alt keys. They should still be able to be used as modifiers.... but you wouldn't see the popup then.

But, like you said later in your post, now exfat is open. It's in linux 5.4 kernel. We have 4.4. I believe it can be backported but I dunno about such magic, doubt we'll get it on stock. Unless it comes with like Android 11 or something.

This can easily be done by setting it to thumb keyboard instead of full keyboard, which I expect they'll fix in next OTA But, I dunno if this particular feature will play friendly with the longpress shortcuts they added to their launcher. Longpress accents would most likely still work other places outside launcher of course... (and the bookmarks I mentioned above are global, unrelated to launcher, can switch app to app that way) and you don't need them while using the launcher, just dunno if it could interfere.

So I said other cool features. How bout wake on keypress? Now it works for every key. And backlight too. You can move the status bar time back to the right in settings. You can select which orientations are permitted during auto-rotate. If you think your phone works better in portrait upside down, disable 0degrees and enable 180. If you dont want it to accidentally upside-down landscape and confuse you when you try to open the keyboard, then disable 270. Also by default, it displays LTE to indicate 4G connections. Someone complained about this in stock, I assume th

Thanks to tdm, mccreary, and everyone who has contributed to aosp, cyanogenmod, and lineage OS, as of test6 we now have keyboard shortcuts, referred to as Bookmarks. Since the lineage thread is getting long and too many topics, thought it might be worth starting a thread to share this info. The Fxtec logo key (Fx, now assigned as Meta) in combination with various keys will perform certain functions and with letters open certain types of apps. The first time you use it, it'll let you choose which app to set as default. Here's the App Bookmarks I've found to work: Add (Calculat

I just decided to review my original essential feature request list. As stock development appears stalled, I'm comparing Lineage test6. #1, check. #2, check. #3, check. #4 check. #5 check. Nice 🙂 (Plus keyboard shortcuts and symbols too, both on sym key and on longpress for accented letters). Let's hope stock does the same when the next OTA comes thru.

Maybe they sent yours to mosen 🙂

mine's fine..

All this talk about the later pre-orders not getting headphones reminds me even early preorders haven't gotten headphones, and we haven't heard anything from fxtec about em in a long time. As far as I recall noticing, only two people have reported receiving them, one guy from japan on twitter got them with his device, and mosen reported here on the forum got them sometime after his device. I'm not too concerned personally, but curious..... obviously more important for ppl to get there phones, but an update mentioning the headphones from fxtec might be nice...

I used a product called Dragon Grips. I bought a collection of stickers https://www.amazon.com/tablets-computer-sticker-nonskid-rectangles/dp/B07DD532WM and played tetris, but I think it could be done better by cutting a 5x7" sheet (which they also sell). I would have wrapped it around the corners more if I had thought about it when applying it, as that might have added a tiny bit of protection; I mainly did it for grip, but it does stick just fine around curved edges. I forgot not to cover the mic hole the first time so fixed that after the fact, would have done it better if I'd thought of

OP, your issues are real imo, but many will be fixed soon in software. And others worked around, but takes effort and patience. But ripping it in half? You coulda sold it. In fact you can probably still sell it, although now you wont get nearly as much as when it just had broken screen. -
Some apps are not well reviewed, whether written by a Russian or not (why does that matter?). For example I needed svn when I built something. Subversion had no reviews and no likes and was from 2014. I didnt expect it to work. It did. I made an openrepos account specifically to rate that app. And again on russians, one of the devs whose made some of the best apps, even before pro1, coderus, im pretty sure is russian. And now hes got pro1, for example he added pro1 support to his splashscreen app. I asked him to add keyboard support to his screenrecord app and i expect he will.

Works with current sfos just fine....

There is another appstore for community apps besides the Jolla-account-required-store. use browser to go to openrepos.net and install the storeman app(store). Some apps are dupes with jolla store, but if so the storeman version is same or newer. Be aware some apps there are old and dont work with current sfos or current external api calls. Its easy enough to publish an app, even I did it. But not all apps are updated/maintained. But also be aware sfos is linux and has gcc. You can build apps from source yourself.

is there any android/los feature to redial busy numbers? I realize today most mobile plans including call waiting and half of POTS subscribers are also paying extra for it, so it as not as important as it used to be, but I just ran into such a situation myself and didn't see a way to tell it to autoredial until it gets thru (and ring me).... or would this be part of the dialer app?
-
I agree. The only downside of it being a certain key is having to know which key, which is an issue with stock. Took me about a week to figure it out by accident. At least one reviewer mentioned no wake on keypress as an issue, as its not intuitive to think its only esc. But once one knows which key, it doesnt matter.

Sorry for my ridiculous rant earlier. Dont even remember posting it. But it explains the way I'm feeling today, and why it was so hard to get up this morning. 1.75L bottles are big. Nothing justifies what I said or the way I said it tho.
