  1. I'd probably attend in San Francisco Bay Area. Ideally San Jose, but anywhere in the area.
  2. Officially we've still got a couple days until Summer, first day is Friday June 21st. So I'm hoping the change from July to Summer means they're about to ship :;
  3. There definately are sometimes apps that don't work on rooted phone. Pokemon Go was one I ran into couple years ago...early versions worked fine, then there was some versions with easy workarounds (rename su binary) then stopped working and by then I didn't care about it enough, but I think there were further workarounds for a while. I also believe things like tap-to-pay may not work on rooted phones, something about safetynet.
  4. Very cool. I agree it looks quite slow switching between landscape portrait. And I know from experience with PQ I'll often be browsing something in portrait one-handed then get to a field I need to type something and thus slide out the keyboard, enter what I need, then switch back to portrait... Would have been good to know about this in advance, they allow in-studio audience, and I live relatively close...
  5. I had the same thought. I even went so far as to check price of plane ticket (US$850) but can't justify that just to see a phone I'll be getting a month later (not to mention london is expensive, so plane ticket isn't the only cost). But, I'll still try to think of some other reason to go... If I was at my previous job I'd probably be able to to figure out a business reason to go to get my company to fly me there (or at least somewhere in western europe and get to london on my own).... but not with my current occupation.
  6. Ok, fair enough. But there's two of them. And Sym should be AltGr anyway. But another one on the right would be nice if keyboard can be rearranged. The right one can be made slash/questionmark. Then shift can be used like normal and no need to use AltGr/arrowkey for standard US layout (other than custom modifiers, etc) as all labeled keys will be accessible with shift like US keyboard. I just want shift to behave normal and to have a dedicated slash/questionmark key. So when it's a letter, shift makes capitol, if a number/symbol then shift makes it do whatever else is displayed on
  7. If you renamed them fn and alt, you'd just be duplicating keys that are already there, at least at the keyboard I'm looking at on the fxtec home page. There is already an F- key which I assume you can use as a modifier for everything except # keys. And there's already an ALT-key, which other than pulling up emoji when pressed by itself, can be used as a modifer for all the other keys. And the SYM-key that you can use as a modifier for national-letters/symbols/etc as described in the post before mine. Do you really need a fourth modifier key?!? If it wasn't there, then there would
  8. There is already a function key which I assume you can use as a modifier for everything except # keys. 9. Sounds like you found a good use of that SYM key. I strongly think you should get rid of those two diaganol arrow buttons . They don't seem to serve any purpose. Shift functions of numbers and symbols should be accomplished with the Shift key like a real keyboard. Replace the one on the right with a slash/questiohmark dedicated key like a real keyboard. That F-key is an additional modifier that perhaps could be user customized too unless there's another purpose. F-key with the numbers should function as F1/F2 etc like a keyboard.
  10. I'd never had a fingerprint sensor until moto z2 force (which I bought when keyboard mod was supposedly ready to ship) and am now used to using it to unlock the phone, and for the three android buttons after unlock, and find that useful. But to do that on the side of the phone seems like it might be awkward so seems to me unlikely it'd be as useful on the pro1. Not sure how the pixel works, but on the moto z, after unlocking with fingerprint, tapping the fingerprint sensor is home button, swiping right is recent apps, swiping left is 'back. My previous phone (Photon Q) those three butto
  11. I'm curious about price in PRC too (or HK for that matter), if it's significantly cheaper w/o whatever taxes/duty/shipping/etc are involved to get it overseas. Where is the final assembly/packaging? If it happens to be in Shenzhen or Chengdu, any chance for will-call?
  12. I, like others, have plenty of ac to usb-a adapters I've collected over the years, starting at 300mA . And plenty of usb-a to micro-usb cables. But what I don't have much of is usb c cables or turbo-chargers. So I'd actually appreciate one coming with the phone. But if it didn't come with one, that'd be fine too, and the reasons make sense, to make it completely international and easy to package. Maybe just include a good quality usb-c to usb-a cable so at least people have something to get started with incase they have nothing already, and I'd imagine most people will appreciate
  13. Yes, excellent. Will headphones be required to be attached for radio to work, or just for improved reception? I seem to recall some device I had that requred them as no other form of antenna.
  14. Still would love an answer to this question. I guess I'll buy it anyway even without, but not having fm radio would be really annoying. It's very useful to be able to listen to music w/o using data.
  15. I find this to be a really useful feature of my Moto Z too. Although another easy way to turn on the light w/o unlcoking the phone would be fine too, holding a couple buttons together or whatever, if they were easy enough to find blindly.
  16. I received an email with a confirmation code, and was able to place a pre-order with it. FYI On Wed, Mar 20, 2019 at 3:18 PM <[email protected]> wrote: Hello! Thanks for your patience and support on bringing back the slider keyboard on the phone! As we announced on Indiegogo Update #35, here is your voucher code for purchasing F(x)tec Pro1: <CODE WAS HERE> You can place the order from www.fxtec.com and apply the code for discount. Any order with voucher code applied will have priority of shipping. If you have any questions, please contact [email protected]
  17. Out of curiosity I checked under account, and funny thing is it let's change your real first and last name, but not your username. Looks like you can even change your email address. Maybe try to change your email address on the account you don't want, then create a new account with the username you want, maybe it won't see it as a duplicate. If that doesn't work, I see there's a 'delete account' on the menu on the left. So my suggestion is delete your account and re-register, I don't think there are any 'moderators' or anything in this forum to help you..
  18. I haven't seen anyone discuss this. It just seems odd to me to have the screen at an angle. I've tried holding my PQ a little flatter to see how it feels and it feels weird to me. Of course, until I actually try it, I won't know. But I certainly don't intend to put my phone down on a flat surface to use it, I hold it in front of me facing me, but with this pro1 I'm gunna have to hold it differently. Probably a non issue. Wait til I hold one and see. Which makes me wonder, will these be in any retail stores, or direct order only?
  19. I'm curious if it will be "official" Sailfish. Based on my limited understanding, devices that have official Sailfish can run Android apps, and devices with unofficial community ports of Sailfish (i.e. Motorola Photon Q) cannot. So I'm curious if Sailfish, when installed on Pro1 (I certainly wouldn't expect it to come pre-installed), will support the alien whatever for android apps. And as the last poster asked, I wonder if running multiple OS's would be possible (sailfish, stock, and lineage all on same device, with grub type bootmenu etc)
  20. Does it have FM radio chip? Does it have HD FM radio? Does it have IR transmitter? I couldn't find this info elsewhere, sorry if I missed it.
  21. It will be between one hundred and one thousand US Dollars. That is all that can be revealed at this time.
  22. I certainly don't want a phone too big to fit in my pocket comfortably or it's completely useless. I like my PQ too but wouldn't mind the screen a little bigger. No bigger than the Moto Z tho, ideally smaller than Z, although understandably thicker due to keyboard.
  23. Motorola Photon Q. To my knowledge, it's the highest spec landscape slider there is... I like the keyboard, Always been happy with it being conformable and usable. I like that Motorola allows unlocking bootloader. I like the ability to run cynaogenmod and lineageos, especially on such an old phone. I'm fairly happy with the size. I liked the hdmi port, I hooked it up to hotel TVs to watch video when traveling. I'm not happy Moto never even released Kitkat even tho they'd promised it previously. I'm not happy that it required hardware mod to use sim card (to use outside us sprin
