  1. That Droid 4 was seeing an E7 or N950 when N900 wasn't home...
  2. Pro1 is far more powerful in almost all ways, the style of keyboard is just different, Pro1 is for thumbs where cosmo is for fingerpoking really... There's also the Unihertz Titan phone if anyone cares for it, HUGE and waterproof copycat of blackberry passport basically.
  3. "Good news! We have now assigned the stock for your Pro1 order." :-D. It's happening guys! I'm shaky from excitement, so happy.
  4. A big thanks to the F(x)tec folks from Europe also for making good phones a reality again :). And a thanks to the customs people who will from now on let the pallets of phones trough no questions asked 😂. And on a more general note I feel quite thankful and lucky that I can afford to buy one myself and hope that everyone who wants one can. And thanks to y'all for making this forum nice :).
  5. Haha none at all i think, then "normal" folks can't buy it and get the stuff they expect. I think it's good they make it have GMS android, we can just take out the google stuff or flash lineage 🙂. It's amazing to me they have unlocked bootloader from the box tho, good stuff.
  6. I know it but I was being dense and it has to be said so that onlookers will not be confused and remove any and all currently encrypted data.
  7. Well the encryption will be gone, just also the encrypted data :D. Decryption translates to transforming the encrypted data into a not encrypted form.
  8. The bad policy is that they have a habit of freezing any account that pulls in a significant amount of money and being very difficult about unfreezing it. It's hardly usable unless you are either so big you have the leverage to not be screwed over by paypal, or so small that they do not care.
  9. I have send a message asking if he has other ways to be contacted, will keep you updated 🙂.
  10. They accepted it for a while if I recall, but it is not surprising that did not last very long. Paypals policies really make it impossible for them to be a viable payment option, even in the future i believe. They are only good if you are ebay.
  11. Windows versions are somewhat arbitrary unless we will argue that XP is a number... This used to be the common way to count back when, but nowadays it seems more popular to just count as per eskes interpretation of the number (which I am sure is correct, there'd be no reason to have an old version). Wikipedia covered this topic here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_versioning#Incrementing_sequences
  12. pretty normal for software versioning though major.minor versions, major number only changing when serious overhaul of the code completed
  13. i'm sure it won't be very long until they push and update and google pay, netflix, hdmi, etc work perfect 🙂 they know of the issues
  14. The problem ends when they send updated firmware soon :).
  15. Extra wild guess: importing cryptographic software in the US, tricky beeswax, they consider it a weapon.
  16. There is not too many choices outside Google's updater, Adups and making your own I think (and before certificatio Google's updater is not an option, homebrew solution is not an easy thing). Adups is haunted by it's past but I trust Waxberry knows his stuff 100%, as evidenced by the phone as a whole :). Nevertheless it's good people asked, so that if people question it they find answers. As a sidenote, the allegations against Adups in that pdf I linked are relatively easy to verify. If people are still concerned by the time I have my phone I'm willing to investigate :-).
  17. The kernel has to not be encrypted since it has the filesystem drivers and will be doing the decryption. The /data partition is what gets encrypted as far as I can tell from this: https://source.android.com/security/encryption/full-disk I suppose the rest of the OS is also not part of /data and not encrypted as there has to be some way to enter the password/pattern for decrypting, it'd only need a few things but it makes more sense to just selectively encrypt only the user data. At this point I am guessing though.
  18. It has to be said that the affected phones (that I can find mention of) mostly targetted markets where there are no such laws like GDPR and whatever privacy laws the US has (as far as I know).
  19. You can also fairly easily find that it is no longer as dramatic as described in that pdf on the web, and what Waxberry says about paying for no tracking also makes sense. Adups certainly has a bad reputation though.
  20. I believe the reason for panic is here explained https://www.blackhat.com/docs/us-17/wednesday/us-17-Johnson-All-Your-SMS-&-Contacts-Belong-To-Adups-&-Others.pdf
