If you've taken your Pro1 apart before you will have noticed it's mostly held together with screws hidden behind small circular stickers: And while it's possible to take these off without damaging, if you are me you entirely destroy them in the removal process :D. Also I do like to get creative, so I made a solution: They're made from thick laminated vinyl (made by Orafol), and obviously quite different than the original stickers but they do the job well I think. I could not achieve the same roundness as the original since this would cost too much for smaller quantitites (to cut th

There is also AICP: I do not know whether it solves the problem you're encountering.
-
I "solve" this by having multiple browser windows each having their own theme/subject.

Treble does really make a lot of things much easier @EskeRahn, it doesn't allow magic though. I've ran an Android 10 GSI from here on my Pro1 for a while and it worked well with the exception of not knowing when the keyboard is open or not, but I didn't check whether VoLTE works and VoWiFi isn't even something I can get as far as I know.

The Astro Slide! (sliding keyboard phone competition from planetcom)
netman replied to damion's topic in General Discussion
you may say we are sliding away -
It's shocking that you do not have the first one yet, maybe something went wrong? I would try contacting them via the contact form rather than e-mail, maybe their spam filters are blocking you. Also tagging @Erik here sometimes helps he is the hero when email support fails 😅❤️

I really believe that everyone will get their phone and things will speed up over time, even though fxtec has struggled to get things done in a timely manner so far. Bringing a phone to market as a startup is no easy feat. Your concerns are legit though, I'd only advice taking the dive if you are willing to wait.
-
It's certainly the phone yeah, worth a try. Since it's unable to connect to the device at all on the windows machine I suspect most likely some silly USB issue to be causing that.

There is! Bus 002 Device 002, the Qualcomm Gobi Wireless Modem nonsense is a phone in EDL mode.
-
There are a lot of them out there, there's bound to be some failures. The only thing that seems somewhat common are display/touch issues. I wouldn't get too worried :).
-
Reflashing via EDL mode is the thing to try right, you won't even need an EDL cable because it is in EDL state. Either the bootloader is somehow corrupted (failed update or broken flash memory presumably). That factory restore tool should be able to do it.

Grasping for straws here, but does the caps-lock button affect the caps-lock LED?
-
I had the same behavior with the stock camera app, clearing data/cache for it in settings->apps fixed that (it seems permanently). My best guess is that an updated version of the app can't cope with the data from the original version that comes on the phone. Also my friends never complained of video quality, but they're used to me using a potato cam so I'm not sure that means anything xD.

OS Comparison? Which should I order for the Pro1 X?
netman replied to dhilgart's topic in General Discussion
I'd say LOS is probably your best bet, things are nicer without google services simply - no demanding your google account, no questions about how you liked the supermarket you just passed by, etc. Also it's probably more polished and stable than the stock rom at this point. Also keep in mind as long as you can use a computer, it isn't to hard to switch if you don't like the choice ordered and the only real difference ends up being the engraving :). -
have you tried holding the powerbutton for a long time, like basically forever? (30sec or so irl)
-
Hehehe it's not me that you want then, i'm terrible with small stuff like phones ending up doing stuff like breaking 2 screens to get 1 replaced 😅 Shipping from and to the states would cost a fair bit too.
-
Where-ish you at and what'd you want for it? I do love the ole n900, I'm sure many people here do.
-
It does sound like you could use some spare screens with such habits 😅. I haven't always treated my phones nicely but much like my n900 back when, I'm very careful and gentle with my Pro1 because I like it a lot.
-
I had mine fly off a desk and slam face down on my floor because my foot was apparently around the USB cable, somehow no damage. I also witnessed @mosen drop his Pro1 nearly a meter down onto pavement gaining a minor scratch on the screen, my heart skipped a beat tho.
-
The hardware is (nearly) the same, we will all benefit from porting efforts :).
-
I shoulda been more clear about that in the video probably, I may addendum in the description if i can figure out how to word it non-confusingly.

Hmm i always though there is a plate on top of the bottom half that can be removed by screws, on which there's a flexible PCB glued and then a mat with keycaps, meaning you would have to detach adhesive if you wanted to replace the keymat or the keyboard PCB separately but not for accessing say the battery etc. I haven't taken it apart though, but i'm going from pictures like here https://matland.be/pro1disassembly.pdf. Where 9, 10 and 11 would not be necessary for accessing most things (including battery) since the importance of that is just to reach the bottom 2 screws in step 12 which are u

I finally got around to doing a video review:

Which browser are you using on your Pro1?
netman replied to Slion's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
I did, I prefer firefox because it allows keeping up with subscriptions and other such features easier. Newpipe is nice though :).
