  1. That's quite weird indeed. Does the display show anything when booting into fastboot mode (from off state hold power and volume down at the same time)?
  2. I agree with this but it was told to us before purchasing that the screen will be curved. These things are fixed in Lineage and SailFish, and should be fixed in the next OTA for stock. I'd recommend giving Lineage a try. For stock I can provide a fix in the form of a modified kernel but WARNING this requires a factory reset and breaks OTA (to get back on normal stock you need another factory reset): https://matland.be/pro1/kernel.zip See the readme.txt in the zip for install instructions. I believe the reason we don't have OTA update to fix these things yet is due to chaos related
  3. These are things I usually do :D. Have not regretted making an exception for the Pro1 though.
  4. It really is an SD835 though. Could be due to different software optimizations on the Samsung, or maybe a bug is slowing things down (the audio being a prime suspect here). Both tools are right, sorta. The 835 has 4 "performance" cores running at at 2.45GHz and another 4 "efficiency" cores running at 1.9GHz.
  5. "Pull Request", a convenient means of asking like "hey, take this particular change from my git repository and apply it to yours"
  6. I did have the impression before that some people only get it at boot whereas others get it at every unlock. Not sure if that is the reality.
  7. Hmm so far I am more convinced different firmware versions could be the difference, but not very sure...
  8. That'd make the fact it behaves differently for different people quite odd, unless different firmare versions.
  9. The google music thing that comes on the phone will do it if you give it an mp3 i believe. There are apps that will hold a wakelock by keeping a notification open like termux if you tell it to.
  10. I am mostly hoping for OTA soon so that people don't grow any weird habits by the time it comes :D.
  11. What if something holds a wakelock? For example music player that keeps going on lockscreen.
  12. There will be 8 keys to find. It happens because a register in the keyboard chip gets initialized incorrectly, I don't know exactly when android decides to re-initialize, but it does not care whether the keyboard is retracted or not. It'll depend on what apps are running, time of sleeping, and some mystery factors that I won't even try guessing at. I don't think the modifier keys can wake it, but not 100% confident, I solved the issue for myself so can't test xD. Sending keypresses artificially won't do the trick, the keyboard driver needs to receive an interrupt from the keybo
  13. The only thing I could imagine might make a difference is whether the device actually went to sleep or not, I'm fairly sure this is just one bug. Pressing a key that is not control/shift/fn before continueing could work around it but with added annoyance. There's no way around flashing a new boot image as far as I know because it requires a modified kernel. But I have to admit I don't know the details of how verified boot and disk encryption work on android, there could be ways around it that I don't know about.
  14. It's a very simple bug, they initialize a register in the keyboard chip wrongly. Fix exists but I suspect we will get OTA only when the corona thing calms down a bit. If there is a desperate need for multi-key support and having all the keys work on boot here are fastboot images to fix it (but WARNING this requires erasing userdata - aka a factory reset - and then another one when you want to go back to normal images that can actually receive OTA update, and it comes with bonus bug of fully locking out the phone when the touchscreen bug happens) https://matland.be/pro1/kernel.zip Alternat
  15. EMI are not just magnetic fields that'd indiscriminately affect anything, there's a frequency component to these things and effects can be quite random, like how old GSM phones would make nearby speakers give dutdutdut sounds when an SMS came in. If it happens wherever you are though Eske is probably right about it being a defect with the phone 😞.
  16. Does this happen regardless or where you go or only in one room/house? I've seen wandering lost souls EMI (electromagnetic interference) drive things like touchscreens mad before, albeit only in fairly extreme cases like firing a stun gun close to a device.
  17. These are all valid complaints yet most of them are not an issue for me anymore after getting used to them. I have not much problems handling the phone carefully to not press the side buttons and screen edges, am used to huge phones already, and I simply like the hinge mechanism as is. The issue with cheeks pressing the screen during calls is supposed to be prevented by the proximity sensor turning off the screen in calls, and at least for me it seems to try but I have to admit it has happened to me once or twice, but it did so for phones before that too, maybe it can be tweaked in software bu
  18. The next OTA should pull either your or my keyboard driver and fix this.
  19. I like opencamera, the shutter button doesn't yet work in it though (but should be a relatively easy fix in future OTA).
  20. I did not use it long enough to really judge this, but it seemed fine, as in it didn't seem to go down faster than stock.
  21. Definitely sounds like a bug, hopefully soon to be fixed :).
  22. I just re-measured and they are 5mm indeed. I had measured this earlier today and was fully confident but obviously I'm cross-eyed :-D.
  23. They say 5mm, the circle stickers we need are ~4mm. I was wrong! 5mm is correct.
