If you return something not because it's defective but because you are unhappy with it as it is supposed to be, stores may charge you a restocking fee if it has been opened. I don't know if this is a practice limited to the US or not.

Nice musical choice. π

Is this with any sound chosen or just the default sound? If all sounds, check volume rocker and also check you didn't accidentally trigger the Do Not Disturb quick tile in the pull down notification shade (I've done that before).

How many keyboard enthusiasts here have a background in IT?

Nope, you don't get rid of me that easy. π -
Thanks. Not being very technical, I never knew the explanation. Just knew it solved a lot of problems. As I said, my go to first move when things are wonky. π

I'm afraid that's worrying. The Sandisk labeling on that card is for a line that only goes up to 32 Gb. Neither Sandisk, nor Amazon show any Sandisk card commercially available with more than 1TB and they are over $200. Fry's doesn't seem to have many Sandisk cards currently. Here is Sandisk's current listings with their label formts(No 2 TB SDXC cards): https://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22697/~/microsd%2Fmicrosdhc%2Fmicrosdxc-card-support-information-page I'd really love to be wrong, but I wouldn't trust this card. If everything on it is backed up elsewhere, mi

So I'm assuming you Contacts app also is your phone app? Is it selected still in Settings -> Apps & Notifications -> Default apps?
-
No. It literally does the same thing a battery pull would do. Doesn't touch your apps. I don't know exactly why it solves problems, but I know in the old days pulling a battery from a phone (like blackberries) would also solve wonkiness often.
-
It doesn't wipe your phone, just helps clean garbage out.
-
I know this sounds silly but try two things. First, go into settings -> apps and clear chache on the phone app. Then do a simulated battery pull. This is done by holding the power button. Keep holding it (ignore the pop-up shutdown menu) until the Pro1 spontaneously restarts. This is my go to whenever I get inexplicable wonky behavior. It works for lot of cases. Don't know if it will solve yours, but unless yours is a messed up proximity sensor, it's all I've got. π

I guess I don't use my Pro1 in portrait enough to understand the problem this is addressing. I use my Pro1 in landscape 95% of the time. I'll snap out the keyboard even to type "OK" π I have my display size set to "smallest" in settings and I get a goo deal of screen real estate, in either landscape or portrait, but certainly landscape. I mostly do all my settings for landscape. I don't really care a whole lot about hoe things look in portrait. The very few apps I use that insist on portrait orientation (generally, if I find one, I look for replacements), I just split screen. Never real

Just got my Pro1 bacjk from repair. Superb. Not a ghost touch anywhere. Immediately installed the update of AICP and aside from a rookie mistake and a hiccup in the connection to my computer for a moment, everything went smoothly. I love this ROM!!! @tdmThank you! Thank you also FxTec for the great repair.
-
Just saying, AICP is up to date, based on Android 10, and does Magisk as an easy flash like addonsu. Developed by tdm as well. Latest zip here (ignore that the date in the description has not been edited, the link will get you the latest zip from Feb, Has Jan security patch). https://community.fxtec.com/topic/3191-aicp-q-discussion/ Flashable Magisk zip here (I'm still using 21.3): https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/ Very similar to Lineage 17.1 but with more features. The point is, although you use Magisk, it is simply flashing a single zip in recovery, no

Do you prefer waiting longer for a better SoC or less for inferior?
Hook replied to brunoais's topic in General Discussion
For me, the key is updateability. For niche devices made by small companies that means an unlockable bootloader and at least Lineage being available (and probably means having a Qualcom chip), because no small company making niche devices are going to keep Android up to date. either in terms of version nor security patches. IDEA corp's contract support is not great-- they are a big company with many big clients. But FxTec's relationships with the development community, even if you have to wait forever to get your device, is invaluable. I won't deny that I thought of getting a Titan as- 1 reply

I don't look at many IGG projects, but having seen exactly the same thing on the Astro Slide project, I almost wonder if the behavior isn't built algorithmically into the IGG platform, maybe based on a few parameters the owner of the project sets. Shrug I don't consider it bad behavior, I consider it marketing. Though I suppose one could argue it's tomayto/tomahto π- 1 reply

I'd say they hit a major, unforseen supply chain disaster in mid January and scrambled to come up with a solution that allows them to move forward giving folks a still fantastic keyboard phone rather than walking away and saying "this is too much" as IGG would have allowed them. And it will still be a great keyboard phone. Thank you, FxTec.- 1 reply

As always, the answers aren't here in a user forum, but I'm pretty confident that FxTec is going to do everything needed to transition the ports to the new SOC requirements. I think the Devs, who partially jumped into this because of their own interest in having a good keyboard phone available, will too. Maybe a few new prototypes will be passed around. I am sure this will get done given 7+ months to do it. However, if you want an answer, you will have to email FxTec.

Just curious, given the small scale of this development effort. Will this be portable to the Pro1x with a different SOC. or will it remain Pro 1 (SD 835) only?

The Astro Slide! (sliding keyboard phone competition from planetcom)

I have a fairly recent (2-3 year old) Thinkpad T570. The keyboard is splendid despite having a more chicklet appearance. They have a very nice, subtly scooped surface and a good amount of key travel (one review said it was 2.41 mm) with a soft click and good feedback. I've used Thinkpads for 25 years and the T570 seems pretty good to me. I can't find anything that confirms it is rubber dome, but I suspect it is. -
Sorry, forgot to ask, will the link in the op have the new version as before? I prefer to flash over ADB and may have to anyway when I get my Pro1 back from repairs. Could you change the date in the description of the link in the OP when you load a new one? Not a big deal, but would let people know it's the newest file when the file has the same name always.
