Do you prefer waiting longer for a better SoC or less for inferior?
Hook replied to brunoais's topic in General Discussion
I don't look at many IGG projects, but having seen exactly the same thing on the Astro Slide project, I almost wonder if the behavior isn't built algorithmically into the IGG platform, maybe based on a few parameters the owner of the project sets. Shrug I don't consider it bad behavior, I consider it marketing. Though I suppose one could argue it's tomayto/tomahto π- 1 reply

I'd say they hit a major, unforseen supply chain disaster in mid January and scrambled to come up with a solution that allows them to move forward giving folks a still fantastic keyboard phone rather than walking away and saying "this is too much" as IGG would have allowed them. And it will still be a great keyboard phone. Thank you, FxTec.- 1 reply

Send your request to their email. [email protected] -
As always, the answers aren't here in a user forum, but I'm pretty confident that FxTec is going to do everything needed to transition the ports to the new SOC requirements. I think the Devs, who partially jumped into this because of their own interest in having a good keyboard phone available, will too. Maybe a few new prototypes will be passed around. I am sure this will get done given 7+ months to do it. However, if you want an answer, you will have to email FxTec.

Just curious, given the small scale of this development effort. Will this be portable to the Pro1x with a different SOC. or will it remain Pro 1 (SD 835) only?

The Astro Slide! (sliding keyboard phone competition from planetcom)
Hook replied to damion's topic in General Discussion
I have a fairly recent (2-3 year old) Thinkpad T570. The keyboard is splendid despite having a more chicklet appearance. They have a very nice, subtly scooped surface and a good amount of key travel (one review said it was 2.41 mm) with a soft click and good feedback. I've used Thinkpads for 25 years and the T570 seems pretty good to me. I can't find anything that confirms it is rubber dome, but I suspect it is. -
Sorry, forgot to ask, will the link in the op have the new version as before? I prefer to flash over ADB and may have to anyway when I get my Pro1 back from repairs. Could you change the date in the description of the link in the OP when you load a new one? Not a big deal, but would let people know it's the newest file when the file has the same name always.

Can't wait to try it when my Pro1 gets back from London (on it's way). More beers coming after payday Wed.

"Chargie", a battery life saver for non-rooted devices?
Hook replied to Rob. S.'s topic in General Discussion
If you are not rooted, Accu Battery is a useful app. It is not as good as Battery Charge Limit as it doesn't do the slowdown and stop, but you can set an alarm for a certain charge limit. Unfortunately, not great for charge while you sleep, but cheaper and less easy to lose than the Chargie. π -
Hoping FedEx to US does better.

Just got an email from FxTec that my Pro1 was repaired by replacing the display and is on it's way back to me. So, one month. Pretty good, especially given lockdown. Thank you, FxTec!

Pro1, Ghost touches and other digitizer and display issues
Hook replied to [email protected]'s topic in Support
Just to tie my story up, just got an email from FX that they have replaced my display and are shipping it back to me (FedEx to US). Only a month, I'm very happy! π I was worried with lockdown it would take longer. Thank you, FxTec. -
So you would rather get a blue phone than a black phone? Or you would like to pay more to upgrade memory? Because the Pro1x is not a "newer phone." They both have the same parts and specs and are manufactured as needed, not stockpiled in some warehouse, so the Pro1 isn't "outdated" compared to the Pro1X. Just saying. π

Tony, just so you know, this is a user to user forum. Will try and invoke @Erikto help, but messages here are not necessarily seen by the FxTec folks.

Someone else will have to answer. I've only done fastboot on Windows, but I'd be very surprised if you can't. Hopefully one of the Linux folks will be along.

Here are the instructions for restoring to stock. And here is an invite to the unoficial Discord for FxTec. A lot of good people there to talk to: https://discord.com/invite/pfUkxQ9

Well, you are entitled to your opinion, and, no doubt, your frustration, but Fxtec are neither crooks nor "horrible people," as their history has proved. Not great at communicating, yes. But the phone is fantastic, you will get it (I'm guessing from the same factory run as the Spring 1Xs), and it won't matter that it doesn't have the most cutting edge specs. If you want to see if it can be changed to a 1X (which would just mean the blue casing as the only difference) or upgraded to the version with more memory , ask them via email. Can't hurt.

Yes. You don't download OTAs as a file, you get them from the system updater. I've never used the updater, so not much help there. I would expect if you are on the 03 Nov version, the updater would update it. If you are on the December version, then nothing should happen until @tdmupdates.
-
Yes, the newest flashable version is from the link in the OP. The post hasn't been updated to change the date and the file doesn't include the date in the filename, but it is the latest version, newer than 13 Nov. It is from 06 December (I dated my copy when I downloaded it).

I'm sooo happy for you and sooo jealous. βΊοΈ

Honestly, it isn't that easy to brick your phone installing Lineage. What happened to PokeParadox didn't seem to be related to flashing other than by coincidence. Believe me, if flashing were dangerous, my Pro1 would be in London... Oh, wait, nm... π

I think you mean 2020. I think Chen and Eske were the only ones with a Pro 1 in May of 2019. π
