  1. I wouldn't be worried about missing 5G yet. 5G became available to Finland last year but there are couple issues with it: 1. Coverage is very limited (small dots inside few city centre in big cities) 2. Data plans for 5G are expensive (unlimited 50€/month (5G) vs 20€/month (4G)) 3. Most of the 5G phones are using chipsets where the 5G modem is not integrated to it so the battery consumption is high (about +20-30% compared to 4G) 4. Currently 5G is used only for download, not for upload. At least in Finland, operators have said that it still takes 5 years that 5G will b
  2. Lineage OS is dropping the support for its own root access, starting from LOS 17 (Android 10). Magisk is the way to go in future. LineageOS is dropping its own superuser implementation, making Magisk the de facto solution
  3. I believe that Steve got the device at the same time when the small batch was delivered. First post on Twitter with Pro1 on 6th of January. So I believe he played with it like a day or two and was able to learn how to use the hinge mechanism 😉. He said that "however, you do get used to the opening system".
  4. If F(x)tec is able to ship all pre-orders before Chinese New Year (holidays commonly between January 25th and February 8th) F(x)tec might be able to ship "normal" orders during March. It looks like that production and logistic issues are solved now so manufacturing and sending new units should be faster than previously. However, this is just an educated guess and I might be wrong.
  5. 180 days limit has nothing to do with F(x)tec. To my understanding, F(x)tec has not set any limit to ask for a refund. 180 days is just a common time limit that most of banks are using. For example, check this: https://www.op.fi/private-customers/daily-banking/cards/op-visa
  6. OnePlus will also add "Optimized Charging" feature: Software Feature Reveal: Optimized Charging
  7. That function might be possible with Button Mapper. It has an option to remap a specific button to toggle rotation. Actions that can be mapped to buttons or keys: Toggle rotation Buttons supported: Custom buttons: add other buttons (active, mute, etc) on your phone, headphones, gamepads, Android TV and other peripheral devices
  8. Yeah, somehow I missed the 4k and 3k ones... My bad.
  9. Pro1 is on 3rd place. 2nd place is not far away but votes has to be doubled to win the whole thing. 3 days to go!
  10. I believe you mean first full week of January? 😉
  11. Has anyone tested Bottom Quick Settings - Notification Customization and One-Handed Mode with Pro1? Pro1 is quite big phone so I am looking for some helpful apps to make usage little bit more easier. Even so I am mostly going to use it with two hands on landscape, sometimes I need to operate one handed.
  12. It does not matter. That is a different race. There are two competition which are "People’s Choice Award" and "Last Gadget Standing". The gadget that receives most votes online will win People’s Choice Award. Last Gadget Standing crown will go to one of the finalist (live event winner). https://lastgadgetstanding.com/2020-faq/
  13. Sony and Apple are using "Adaptive Charging" technology and it is working very well on my Xperia XZ1 Compact. The phone will learn your usage over time and estimate the time you wake up. Also, you can turn it off (permanently or single day) any time you want. It would be great feature for Pro1 also. 14. Chen said on Twitter that the small batch (I suppose) should arrive to F(x)tec office in the 1st week of January. So customers could expect to receive their unit next week. https://mobile.twitter.com/chenliangchen/status/1210519379827404800
  15. It was said on Twitter that Pro1 should work with Verizon and Sprint. https://mobile.twitter.com/chenliangchen/status/1109828299461660672 Technically that might be true but Verizon has not whitelisted Pro1. https://www.fxtec.com/networks-bands-pro1-support/
  16. Pro1 is now at 4th place. Still little bit over a week to vote.
  17. There is now a launcher that supports Android 10 native desktop mode. I really hope that Pro1 will get Android 10 update soon! Flow Desktop is the first launcher built for Android 10’s hidden Desktop Mode
  18. I have exact same situation. My profile doesn't show anything to me.
  19. Santa is here in Finland now. I just saw him!
  20. We have lost our 1st place. Xmas is good time to ask friends and family to vote Pro1. Happy Xmas fellas!
  21. I think the same. Snapdragon 835 is still at the same level with 730 or 730G on performance. CPU is little bit behind 730G but GPU is more powerful. Of course, it is not as power-efficient as newer 730G but very good anyway (10nm node). Also, Google Pixel 2 uses same chipset than Pro1 and Google has guaranteed to update Pixel 2 to Android R (or 11). Android updates are not tied to chipset manufacturer support anymore since Project Treble came in. There are other changes as well. The Linux Long-Term Support is now 6 years instead of 2 years. In my opinion, Snapdragon 835 was very good selection
  22. The guy from AndroidAuthority really doesn't seem to like QWERTY phones 😅. BlackBerry Priv review from the same person: https://www.phonescoop.com/articles/article.php?a=17093&p=6693 "I'm not sold on the keyboard. The quality is fine, but the keys are a bit flat to me, They have BlackBerry's signature scalloped shape, but each individual key's profile could be more defined. Travel and feedback are solid enough. I pulled out the BlackBerry Classic (late 2014) and can tell you I like that keyboard much better. The Priv's keyboard feels a bit cramped and offers no benefit to me over
  23. Newer chip would make the lifespan longer but I think that F(x)tec can do well enough with Snapdragon 835 also. Most manufactures doesn't even support their products over 2 years. Vulnerability patches can be implemented without the newest kernel in many situations. Even if F(x)tec is not able to support Pro1 many years, the community can help. For example, I have Nexus 5 (released 2013) running Android Pie 9.0 with latest security level. An example of what custom ROMs can do: Paranoid Android 7.3.1 Released with KRACK Vulnerability Patches, Anti-Shake mode in Camera, and more
