  1. Oops! and wow! You can clearly see their patent attorneys were hard at work determining how closely they could copy the D4 without getting sued! It's like Motorola wasn't the only one who saw value in the platform at the time, and then abandoned it. :(
  2. It is possible (though would be disappointing) that the keyboard controller can only handle 1 input at a time. It is also possible that something in the driver can only handle 1 input at a time. I'd dig a little more into that if I had the hardware. :P
  3. Hence why I dream.....it seems most people think the ideal size for a phone is about 1" smaller than a TV.....
  4. For those of you who have used them on a mobile network, please tell everyone your experience so future buyers or recipients know what to expect! :)
  5. But the current is not a 5", it's a 6". I agree, go smaller—a 5" ruggedized with similar keyboard with a few customer-requested improvements, a flat screen, and the battery will take care of itself as the largest consumer of battery in most mobile devices is the screen. I would also imagine cooling will be adequate with 5" vs 6", but that would naturally depend on processor TDP at load. BUT I DREAM.
  6. Nice to see a fellow Droid 4 (ish, I know) fan! Motorola REALLY goofed when they stopped making those!
  7. I feel that having a one-stop shop for network compatibility information will be valuable. Please post as you attempt to use the Pro1 with the various networks, and the experience you have. I will maintain the top post as a list. For example, Verizon, couldn't activate—T-Mobile, buggy, no LTE—AT&T, working perfectly. Anything you wish to add beyond that will help clarify my summary and help others get their Clack connected. The absence of a carrier from this list doesn't mean it does or doesn't work; it just means I've not seen anyone say so. Let's get compatibility documented for the non-
  8. Known Networks: (updated 2/3/2020) 1&1 (DE): Must add APN manually to enable LTE data, no problems observed after adding APN from carrier web site (1 report) 3.dk (DK): Working with no problems observed (1 report) AldiMobile (Telstra) (AU): Working with fully-patched stock OS, cannot place calls with LineageOS or unpatched stock OS (1 report) AT&T (US): Working with no problems (2 reports) D2 (Vodafone) (DE): Working with no problems observed (1 report) Deutsche Telekom (D1) (DE): Basic functions working, no LTE (1 report) FreedomPop (AT&T) (US):
  9. They definitely ARE doing that, but I have SIM-switched before and can confirm the service follows the SIM. Whether that magically makes everything work or not with the Pro1 remains to be seen. At the latest, when I get mine. :)
  10. So the next elephant in the room becomes how does it work on Always Terrible and Troubling? :O
  11. And just so I don't get accused of this, I'm not saying that it's acceptable for an advertised feature to not work correctly, only that it's a feature I recommend disabling. EDIT: While I'm at it, I'll also say I'm sure this is all software, and a future update will correct it.
  12. To make it easier to unlock it. Maybe tree loppers are going to start becoming standard equipment for phone thieves..... I'm being silly, but I still see biometric ID as very risky and not advantageous. (Is it really THAT difficult or time-consuming to type in a PIN?)
  13. Do you really want to tempt people to steal your finger if they steal your phone????
  14. What size SIM does it use? I see no reason why using a mule device to get the SIM active and then sliding the SIM into *ahem* something else couldn't work.
  15. There's no time like the present to give yourself the present of a Pro1. :)
  16. Gandalf speaks the truth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U206PQSMMLc
  17. In all seriousness, I gave it a vote. Google's captcha system must think I'm from the third world though, since I apparently can't recognize cars. :O
  18. Having been at the Northern border of North Dakota and Montana, I can confirm there's something in that spot on the map that is labeled "Canada", and also living in Northern Michigan, we get quite a few people who claim to have been there, or be from there. They can't all be nuts......or can they?????
  19. Because it hasn't been on a typewriter since 1367? ROFL! Actually thorn was substituted with Y for awhile, hence the signs such as "Ye olde Inn". It was never meant to be pronounced 'ye,' but rather was just a vaguely visually similar substitute spelling since thorn was falling out of common usage. It was pronounced 'the' just as today; of course, many people today do not know the medaeval spelling rules, and some who do read it incorrectly on purpose for comedic effect, like that skit where a child was reading from a Bible with long s (which looks a lot like f) and butchering it.
  20. Sort of German; this is at least 20 years old, as I remember seeing it in the 90s. The joke is that since German lost, the German advocates were going to make everyone spell English with a thick German accent. :)
  21. You'll be able to upgrade the Pro1 to 10 once that version is available. You will not need to buy a different device. Software support is one of the huge advantages of the Pro1. You'll be able to run a custom ROM such as LineageOS (who is already developing for Pro1) and the factory firmware is receiving updates as well.
  22. The way Android is supposed to work....yeah, like Windoze with superfetch where it crams the RAM with junk you MIGHT need in case you do. LOL. I despise that "feature" in both environments. At any rate, long press back to kill foreground app is generally not something I use to circumvent preloading and backgrounding (although it'd be untruthful to say I never have) but more commonly something I use to clear a stuck app. It's quite useful in that regard.
  23. Old saying, anything worth having is worth paying more for.....or was it something else LOL.... Certainly I agree with your statement, but it is what it is. I'm certainly not going to let customs stand between me and the best new phone EVER! :)
  24. I have always considered them the second most evil, though thinking about it now, I can see how they could be worse. At any rate, they're both evil and both get no money at all from me in the last many years.
