FlyingAntero always impresses me with his/her knowledge. Normal customers like me are already overwhelmed by the distinction between rooted and unrooted lineage.... I thought lineage was always rooted? I would like to know whether bank / payment apps will work with lineage... and this in the long term (Did nt tdm say he cannot guarantee this...)??

How do these android software customisation work? Is it not possible for Fxtec to change supplier for the android stock customization? Since IdeaLTE does not seem to deliver? Does google limit these options? It seems that the situation is so difficult that fx tec has to launch a phone with another operating system? And we are not even sure whether banking apps will work? I have another phone from another small company "Cyrus" (outdoor phones). It receives stock android software updates every month.

if I order today when will I receive the phone?
OKSun replied to FTN00b22's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
It is interesting to follow this discussion about manufacturing and the challenge for an SME. One reason I kept coming to this forum. Sad to see it loosing potential clients with such a good product. Has anyone any clue why fxtec could not reach general availability since the Chinese lock-down ended (May)? -

OKSun replied to FTN00b22's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
I think they delivered all orders of 2019, did they (except the QWERTZ ones)? -
Several users (including me) have been wondering whether general availability was still a goal / possible. Good to hear that!

I have the same question under stock android. I have used cyanoged couple of years ago with my droids and got used to this typing. I remember Slion saying "it is not possible to integrate sticky shift in stock android"??? I might have misunderstood. Would be good to clarify!

Yes and this is the disadvantage of the internal memory solution: some apps might not work anymore if you remove the SD card / you might mess up your phone settings when you remove the SD card. Then you need to reinstall apps and some settings. It happened to me. By the way, since a lot of users use the SD card as external storage, it might be an idea for the pro 2 to make it easier to remove (not in the SIM tray).
-
If I remember well, if you choose the internal storage option, you see only one drive on the laptop, the combined internal storage.

I think this is one of the threads on this (see below). My take away was: - it depends on how you use the phone (apps, etc) - lineage has more fixes - you risk to loose your banking apps if you root (for the sake of security, these apps do not like rooting), although there is a work around (but you need the skills). - Problems with the stock android are less widespread that at the beginning of 2020 (there were a few updates since then); there are a lot of workaround to the problems identified. For me, the phone works fine with stock android (except no sticky shift opti

For me USB cables were all the same with the exception of the type (USB 2, USB 3, USB c and the length of the cable). However it seems it is more complicated than that. I have been using various usb-c to usb-c cables with the pro1 with various results: the first one (delock) is charging at around 800mA but keeps breaking the connection when transmitting data the second one (samsung) is charging at around 500mA (from the same port of my docking station) but works perfectly for transmitting data. Is there something we need to look at when purchasing cables? some specific character

I have contacted fx support to purchase a second stock fx charger, but they do not have any available now. When I travel, I need sometimes to quickly charge my phone (fast charging). Do you know which other fast charger works with the pro1? If possible please add a link to the product. I have tried to use the fast charger of my galaxy note 8 but it seems it is not compatible withe the pro1 (the charging cycle was stopping every 30s). Thanks in advance.

Alternatives to snapdragon camera are posted on many locations in this forum: E.g. FlyingAntero said: Camera app For a better picture quality, you can try Gcam ports. Personally I prefer PocoPhone F1 port but the viewfinder is upside down if you select Night Sight. However, the picture is right way in the gallery afterwards. There is also BSG port (with fixed viewfinder) but it does not provide as great picture quality in very dark situations (noise level is bad). PocoPhone F1 port vs. stock camera app

OK. I found my answer. I needed to select the Swiss german layout.

My pro1 is a qwertz one and the settings for the built in physical keyboard of the phone is "Finqwerty, German physical DE QWERTZ." I am using sometimes my Pro1 with an external logitech keyboard and mouse (I mean in this post a real desktop keyboard not the nice built in physical keyboard of the phone). The external keyboard is a qwertz one, and work as such when I use it for my laptop. However when I use it for the phone, it acts as a QWERTY keyboard... I found out that I need to go to Settings System Language & input Physical keyboard Here it is a

Yes I was also wondering about this. From the current text of the website, I understand that they still intend to sell QWERTZ in the future, but it would be interesting to get confirmation. Or are they already collector items?

How intrusive are the curved screen accidental presses?
OKSun replied to Saguro's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
I was scared about that one too when I read the forum. As recommended by the community I used the app app edge null. I set border with portrait to 23 and border with landscape to 21. With that I had zero accidental touch on android stock from the beginning (and I do not use a case). I also activated the features to "detect edged swipes" which means you can still use the edges when you do a swipe move. I still manage to use the margin to scroll through contacts, applists. Not an issue for me. -
I acknowledge and respect the above experience. Just want to share that so far my experience has been more positive as I only set up the pro 1 recently: I benefited from the updated software, and from the tips of the community (Thread below). I am not a phone expert, but I could follow the advices which solve many of the problems listed above. Even using android stock, I am quite happy with the experience.

I guess you also tested different cables.

I do not have this problem after the update. My different chargers work and deliver different levels of mA consistently (stock Android). Hope it helps.

Pro1, Ghost touches and other digitizer and display issues
OKSun replied to michal@hanu.la's topic in Support
So am I... No problem yet, but i started using the device only later. So will see. It could be that we were part of the same batch as the ones of January, December (in terms of screen). Manufacturing had just been stopped due to Chinese New Year and then Corona lock down in China. -

OKSun replied to michal@hanu.la's topic in Support
Sorry to hear that. It seems you received your phone in May. So the problem seems to concern not only the screens of devices from December and January. Are you in the Qwertz batch? It seems interesting information as FxTec / their manufacturer can crosscheck with the various batches of screens they have received from supplier for production, -
in my case, the update seems to have really fixed the issue related to the "Wifi signal lost => phone crashing". In the past days, I have switched off my second wifi access point and connected directly to the router only (to test). Previously the phone would crash within 30 seconds due to loss of wifi signal. in the past days, not a single crash (as they promised). What surprises me is that now the wifi signal reception on the phone is constant, even in the most remote room (without the second wifi access point). It seems that the signal reception has improved (or is it the weathe

For info (as the above on fingerprint is a bit scary for potential customers): I did not have to re-enter my fingerprint after this update. It still works. I guess the reason is that I only recently set up the fingerprint (in the previous stock version) and I did not experience the early bugs of the first stocks (February-June).

Here are some alternative solutions (a bit more expensive, and more like a work around) But might be worth considering: My carrier offers the option of a second SIM with same number for a second phone. I tested and it did not really work for SMS and WhatsApp... Just for calls... So I ended up with another solution: call forwarding on a second number/phone (pre paid). There is an app that works great for SMS & whatsapp forwarding.
