I was lucky enough to be one of the first retail box customers.

Congrats!  You also appear to be the first US recipient. I'm curious, when did it arrive, and did you get a tracking number emailed to you first, or surprise delivery?

I also hadn't noticed the serial number means it's their phone #2! Only learned that from reading this forum. So I guess it's quite an extra special phone. Kind of like one of those artworks that are produced in a limited number, and the lowest numbers are the most prized.

Yup as a collectors item it will for sure have a higher value than the retail selling price you have put it up for, merely because of the serial number.

So you should consider the auction before someone is actually bidding on it, making it harder to cancel...

So it kind of sounds like not EVERYONE is going to get their phone by Christmas. 😥😔

Was there an incident at the factory? Could F(x)tec at the very least inform their customers when delays occur instead of leaving them in the dark until they start asking support individually?

@Raksura i agree it would be a great help

but giving consistint information is very hard to do for a startup, and to much is out of there control to give an estimate within a reasonable time frame. So i have been told numerous times.

They can post to social media on the official account though to encourage sale daily, but keeping already paid customers up to date is to much to reasonably expect it seems.

There seems to be a lack of interest or ability in providing this information, so one just has to wait and it will be a nice surprise when you receive the tracking/phone

A US retail order has shipped and arrived before "pre"-orders?

It was definitely a pre-order, since it has the pouch in the pictures. They mean that this is not one of the pre-release units, such as the one that EskeRahn has (I don't recall if he also got a post-release one).

This has been the whole problem with their terrible communication. Delays are understandable but just tell us!

The full paragraph I got from support read:

"We are currently still shipping our earlier Pro1 pre-orders. We know this was delayed longer than it should have been, and we are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Realistically, your tracking details will be sent to you anytime before the 20th of December, as we plan to have 1-day shipping before Christmas, so we will have all pre-orders complete in time for the Christmas holidays."

My own view? Every date they have given so far has been missed, or else was not correctly explained (like 'shipping on 29/10'). It seems get unlikely at this point that they'll meet their Christmas plan.

I feel like a sucker that I have "lent" them my money to be honest... if I knew that they are gonna treat us like some cockroaches who even dare to ask for delivery on (some unprecised) time I would have never sign up for this.

That could realistically be a generic message sent without them realizing that your phone is in the second batch, since, from what I've understood, all of the first batch has been sent  and "currently still shipping our earlier Pro1 pre-orders" would then apply to the second batch. I am still on the fence about this though, as rumors of delays I've seen contradict previous public statements from F(x)tec members have all been proven right so far.

Taking longer than expected to deliver a product that hadn't even been manufactured yet when you ordered it is hardly treating anyone like cockroaches. Delays happen, and so will the arrival of your Pro1. Waiting is tough, but the glorious arrival will be awesome!

Bit miffed about this myself.

If I'd been told in September that I shouldn't expect it before the Holidays, that's one thing. I wouldn't have high hopes.

But it's been '1-2 weeks away' for the past 60 days and possibly another 30. My dopamine circuits are fried.

Personally I would never bid on nor buy from an ebay seller with a reputation of just 6 (!) - and even those are as buyer only, and many months old. Your are not even covered by their buyers protection. And the very low serial number 000002 must be a staff item, that seems very odd to go on sale so quickly, so it all has a suspicious smell to it....

Amount of feedback has no bearing on buyer protection. eBay's policy on the buyer getting the item they paid for as described is very good. Further protection available if you use PayPal and even another layer still if you use a credit card.

I wouldn't be concerned about purchasing from there, but at the same time I'm concerned someone somehow jumped the line

It was specific to my second-batch order.

FYI asking for a refund will result in all sorts of proposals, including "prioritizing" your order. At that point I just wasn't comfortable letting them hold onto my money anymore.  Some of the shenanigans sound like cash flow issues. And given the small amount that was shipped and the deviation from the original estimate, I don't get how the factory hasn't built all the units so far. Like I get the shipping and logistics delays, but how hasn't the factory at least finished producing all the batches in the months that have passed?

The phone really seems to be stellar in quality. Not like the cosmo that apparently has a ton of software and hardware issues. So I will be first in line to get a pro1 once it's actually in stock. But it currently looks like this will take way more than christmas. The yield from the factory must be abysmal ( I guess the QA is also really good from what we've seen so this probably slows things down even more)

Note: My refund was processed without issues though. So all this is just speculation. I don't think it would be so easy to get a refund if the project was in imminent danger.

It stopped being about the delays and started being about the service they provide a looong time ago. Gosh, why is it so hard for the fanboys to understand that with a product we are buying also all the other services like customer service, on-time delivery, warranty repairs, reliable information and everything else? If I'd provide to my customers a service like that I would get fired within a month!

It's literally the worst service I've ever met. In real-life business-to-business relations this would be unacceptable. And yet, there still are voices saying over and over again "this is a start-up, they are new..." etc. So what? There is no excuse for not informing us, their customers who paid real money, about delays! It's literally just a matter of making a few phone calls and writing a short newsletter: "sorry guys, we have a delay because of XXXX, Your phones are at YYYY state, new ETA is ZZZZ".

Not to mention, that if they have problems they could ask their community for some help - there are lots of people with different connections and experiences here, maybe someone could help them with the problems they encounter? But no, it's better to pretend that everything is fine until another deadline is behind us and still not tell what is going on.
